Telangana: NIA charge sheet 5 in Nizamabad PFI terror training case

    [ad_1]

New Delhi; The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary charge sheet before a special court in Hyderabad against five accused in the Nizamabad PFI case pertaining to criminal conspiracy hatched by PFI members to recruit and radicalise youth and organise training camps to put them through arms training for carrying out acts of terror and violence to make India an Islamic state by 2047.

“The accused are trained Popular Front of India (PFI) cadres who were found involved in provoking and radicalising impressionable Muslim youth, recruiting them into the PFI fold and imparting weapons training in specifically organised training camps. The aim was to carry out violent terrorist activities, in furtherance of the conspiracy to establish Islamic rule in the country by 2047,” the NIA said in its chargesheet.

The NIA chargesheet Shaik Raheem alias Abdul Raheem, Shaik Vahaid Ali alias Abdul Wahed Ali, Jafrulla Khan Pathan, Shaik Riyaz Ahmed and Abdul Waris under the relevant sections of IPC and UA(P)A.

In December 2022, the NIA had filed its first chargesheet against 11 accused in the case after taking over the investigation from Telangana police in August 2022.

“These PFI cadres misinterpreted religious texts and proclaimed that violent form of jihad is necessary to end the sufferings of Muslims in India. Once recruited into the PFI fold, the Muslim youth were sent to the training camps organised by the accused PFI cadres where they were trained in the use of lethal weapons to kill their ‘targets’ by attacking their vital body parts such as throat, stomach and head,” the NIA alleged.

The PFI and its many affiliates were declared as an ‘unlawful association’ by the Ministry of Home Affairs in September 2022 after its involvement in violent activities came to light during investigations carried out by various state police units and national agencies.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary charge sheet in connection with alleged communal clashes in the Ekbalpore-Mominpur area of Kolkata in October last year, officials said.

The agency has charged Zeeshan Akbar, a resident of Kolkata, under IPC sections related to 120-B (criminal conspiracy), rioting, unlawful assembly among others.

The supplementary charge sheet was filed in a Kolkata court on Tuesday.

“It was found during investigation that Md Zeeshan Akbar, along with other co-accused, had hatched a criminal conspiracy and had mobilised an ‘unlawful assembly’ with the intention to attack dwelling houses/shops of Hindu community at Gali No. 8, Bhukailash Road, Kolkata by using crude bombs, petrol bombs, wooden sticks, brickbats, stones etc,” the NIA spokesperson said in a statement.

It said a mob also allegedly disrupted the electricity supply in the area and prevented police personnel from entering the area to control the riots.

“The mob also assaulted police personnel…,” the NIA said.

Two communities clashed in Mominpur-Ekbalpur on October 8-9 last year, following which police arrested 41 people and clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC in the area, officials said.

Supplementary charge sheet filed against Oreva Group MD in Morbi bridge collapse case

    [ad_1]

Morbi: A supplementary charge sheet has been filed in a court here against Oreva Group MD Jaysukh Patel in the case related to the last year’s Morbi suspension bridge collapse which claimed 135 lives.

Police filed the supplementary charge sheet in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate M J Khan on Thursday, Patel’s lawyer Haresh Mehta said.

Following which, Patel’s case was committed (transferred) to the sessions court on Friday for trial against him and nine other accused, he added.

“The matter will be now heard in the court of principal district and sessions judge P C Joshi from March 17,” advocate Mehta said.

A special investigation team had on January 27 filed a charge sheet against the nine accused arrested earlier in the case. Patel was then shown as a fugitive. He later surrendered before a court and was arrested by the police on January 31.

He and others were booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 336 (act which endangers human life), 337 (causing hurt to any person by doing any rash or negligent act) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by doing rash or negligent act).

Patel’s plea for interim bail was recently rejected by a court.

The British-era suspension bridge on the Machchhu river in Morbi town collapsed on October 30, 2022, killing 135 persons and injuring 56 others.

Oreva group had taken up the responsibility of operating and maintaining the bridge.

Watch: Safari vehicle topples after 2 rhinos charge toward it

    [ad_1]

A terrifying video of a jeep flipping over after two rhinos charged at it was recently shared on Twitter. The video has now sparked a discussion among netizens about wildlife safari guidelines.

IFS officer Akash Deep Badhawan shared the video on Twitter with a thought-provoking caption.

“I think it’s about time guidelines for safety and rescue in adventure sports are implemented in wildlife safaris across the country. Safaris are becoming more of adventure sports now! Jaldapara today!” he wrote.

The video begins with two safari vehicles parked alongside a road. Within seconds, two rhinos charge at the vehicles, possibly as a result of getting too close to the animals. The cars then begin to reverse, and one of the jeeps topples over. The animals vanish into the jungle at the end of the video.

In response to a Twitter user’s inquiry about the safety of the passengers in the overturned jeep, Badhawan stated, ‘They’re safe.’

  • Civilian killing: NIA files supplementary charge sheet against Maoist cadre in Bihar

Civilian killing: NIA files supplementary charge sheet against Maoist cadre in Bihar

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The NIA on Saturday filed a third supplementary charge sheet against a Maoist cadre who was involved in the killing of a civilian after a “kangaroo court” dubbed him as a police informer in Bihar’s Aurangabad district in 2018, an agency official said on Saturday.

Naresh Singh Bhokta was abducted on November 2 and taken to a “jan adalat or kangaroo court” where the top leadership of the CPI(Maoist) issued instructions to their cadres to kill him after declaring him as a police informer. His body was found near Badhai Bigha village in the Madanpur police station area the same day.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the investigation into the case on June 24 last year. The case was initially registered at Madanpur police station in Aurangabad district in Bihar.

Earlier, the state police filed separate charge sheets against seven accused on January 26 and December 28 in 2019 and November 30 in 2021.

A spokesperson of the NIA identified the accused charge-sheeted on Saturday as Ajay Singh Bhokta, a resident of Kanaudi village in Madanpur, and said, “investigations have revealed that he, along with other CPI(Maoist) cadres, was actively involved in the abduction and murder of the civilian”.

“Ajay is an armed cadre of CPI(Maoist) and he was arrested in the instant case on September 1 last year upon production warrant. Charge sheet has been filed against him in the NIA Court, Patna under various sections of IPC, Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” the spokesperson said.

The official said the weapons used in the incident have been seized and their forensic examination has been completed.

Three vehicles used by the CPI(Maoist) cadres in the incident have also been seized, the spokesperson said.

“During its investigations, NIA has also been able to unearth the involvement of top CPI(Maoist) commanders, including a politburo member, in the conspiracy for this brutal murder, which was done to create terror in the society while propagating the false and fallacious ideology of people’s war against the State,” the spokesperson said.
