  • Centre uses companies like LIC to help Adani, other businessmen: KCR

Centre uses companies like LIC to help Adani, other businessmen: KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) stated on Sunday in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Parliamentary Party that the situation in the country is deteriorating day by day due to the unfortunate policies adopted by the Union Government. As such, KCR directed the party MPs to expose the Centre in the Parliament Budget session.

CM KCR said that the mistakes committed by the Centre should be brought to the attention of the country
by acting strategically and raise the voice on the state people’s issues as well as the country during the Parliament session. He further said that CM KCR has made it clear that the BRS should join other parties which come together and expose the centre in both houses of Parliament.

BRS Parliamentary Party meeting was held at Pragati Bhavan on Sunday under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. The meeting lasted for more than four hours and several issues were discussed. The meeting expressed concern that the negligent and perilous policies followed by the Center is causing immense damage to India.

“The Centre is giving arbitrarily the hard earned people’s money to their corporate friends. The central government is showing special affection towards its friendly corporate forces and waived off loans worth lakhs of crores of rupees. In public sector companies like LIC, shares are being transferred to big businessmen like Adani aimlessly,” said KCR.

The CM further said that the country is watching the hollowness of the companies which are losing lakhs of crores of rupees on a daily basis as the value of their shares plunged suddenly.

“It is clear that their profits are not all wealth. The Centre is making irreparable loss by privatising all the country’s assets to contribute such financial irregularities. Both the houses of Parliament should raise their voices against the dangerous economic policies followed by the central government which is helping the private sector to gain profits and people bear the brunt of losses,” he added.

Discussing Telangana’s governor and the situation of other states KCR said, “It is undemocratic the Center is using the Governors as their henchmen to weaken the states. The BRS MPs should strongly oppose the evil policies of using the system of governors, who are supposed to be negotiators between the central states while performing their constitutional duties, for their own political interests in the Parliament. The governors are deliberately delaying the decisions taken by the state cabinet, the legislative assembly and the legislative council as well,” he said.

KCR also commented on the prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas and other essential goods which are increasing abnormally.

“The Center is not serious on the common man’s life which is burdened day by day by rising prices. CM KCR directed the MPs the sufferings and hardships of the common people across the country should be brought to the attention of the people of the country through both houses of the Parliament,” he added.

The CM also made it clear that the Central government is not serious about the promises made to Telangana under the AP reorganization act, and the MPs should raise their voice in this regard. CM KCR said the MPs should raise their voices in the Parliament for many rights that Telangana deserves.

Ready to face early polls if BJP-led Centre dissolves LS: BRS’ KTR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Alleging that the NDA government at the Centre shows step-motherly treatment towards Telangana, ruling BRS leader K T Rama Rao claimed his party is ready for early elections to the Parliament and the state assembly if the BJP dissolves the Lok Sabha, showing its willingness for polls ahead of schedule.

The BJP-led government has not announced any new institution or funds to Telangana and not even delivered on the promises made to the state in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, he alleged.

The NDA government waived off loans for its “corporate friends”, he alleged. “…especially those in BJP in the state, they talk big. If they have guts, let them dissolve Parliament. Then, we can go for early polls together,” he told reporters in Nizamabad on Saturday.

“They say ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vishwas’. But, their actions are ‘sab kuch bakwas’ (all rubbish). The value of rupee is moving towards the ‘pathalam’ (abyss), the debt is mounting towards the sky. Such is the situation prevailing in the country today,” he said.

The BRS and BJP have been engaged in political one-upmanship ahead of Assembly polls to be held towards this year-end.

2,967 tigers in India across 53 tiger reserves: Centre tells SC

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Centre on Friday told the Supreme Court that there are 2,967 tigers in the country spread across 53 tiger reserves, according to a 2018 report.

The apex court was hearing a petition filed by Advocate Anupam Tripathi in 2017 seeking to save endangered tigers whose numbers are dwindling across the country.

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati told a bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna that a lot of work has been done for the conservation of tigers and increasing their population.

The top court took note of the submission and adjourned the matter till March as Tripathi was not present.

“Heard ASG Aishwarya Bhati. As per the 2018 census, India has 2,967 tigers spread out in 53 tiger reserves. This number constitutes 70 per cent of the global number and figures point to the growth of the tigers. In the interest of justice, to give an opportunity to the petitioner, list on March 3,” the bench said.

The top court in 2017 had issued notice to the Ministry of Environment, the National Board for Wildlife and the National Tiger Conservation Authority on the plea which had also sought relocation of people living near tiger reserves.

The petition had said tigers were being killed either by poisoning by locals or the authorities, shooting by forest guards or by poaching.

  • Owaisi urges Centre to ban movie on Godse

Owaisi urges Centre to ban movie on Godse

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded a ban on the upcoming movie on Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse.

The Hyderabad MP asked the Union government if it will ban the movie on Godse like it banned the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Stating that nobody in India can be greater than Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B R. Ambedkar, Owaisi said this country can never allow portrayal of a terrorist as a hero.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president was addressing a public meeting in the old city of Hyderabad on Sunday night.

He demanded the Centre to ban the movie and ensure that it is not released in any theatre.

Owaisi was apparently referring to the movie ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh’ of Rajkumar Santoshi, scheduled for release on January 26.

Recalling that in 2013 a film on Bhindranwale was also banned by the government, he asked why a film on Godse can’t be banned.

“Why do you have so much love for Godse. How long will you continue to chant the name of Gandhi but love Godse in your heart?” he asked.

Terming Godse as the biggest terrorist of independent India, Owaisi wanted to know the opinion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the assassin of Gandhiji.

Referring to the ban on BBC documentary in India, he asked if the Prime Minister would also ban the movie on Godse.

The Hyderabad MP also asked the RSS to speak about Godse. He pointed out that Godse and Savarkar had a close relationship. He alleged that the ruling party was trying to portray the murderer of Gandhiji as a hero.

The AIMIM chief also slammed the union government for its attempts to interfere in the judiciary.

Stating that the judiciary is independent under the Indian Constitution, he alleged that the Modi government wants to appoint judges who agree with its ideology.

He said the government recommended a BJP Mahila Morcha leader in Tamil Nadu who had declared herself a ‘chowkidar’ on her Twitter account, for the post of judge.

  • Centre open to views on new education policy: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Centre open to views on new education policy: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

    [ad_1]

Coimbatore: The National Education Policy (NEP) is not a document containing few pages but has lot of new features for the benefit of students, said Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan here on Saturday.

Though education is in the concurrent list of the States, the Centre expects Tamil Nadu to accept NEP, he said.

The Union government is open to ideas and new methods when it comes to NEP, Pradhan said while addressing the 34th convocation of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women in the city.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphatically said that all should learn mother tongue and the NEP will help to learn, read and write in mother tongue in foundational years, he said and added that the government has asked the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to publish books in all Indian languages from this academic year onwards.

The holistic development of the children will be better if they study in mother tongue and India’s education focuses on employability, empowerment and enlightenment, he said.

Stating that technology was new disrupter, the Union Minister said millions of people use mobile phones. “Internet and smart phones are basic requirements and we were dependent on foreign technologies like android or ios. However, IIT Madras has developed technology for the indigenous 5G a few days ago,” he pointed out.

Referring to COVID-19 vaccines, Pradhan said, “Indians have taken the vaccine, but no one in the world got certificate within a few seconds after taking it like our country. It is such type of technology we are developing in India.”

Highlighting about women empowerment, the Union Minister said, “Tamil Nadu is much more ahead of rest of the country and the State has highest number of working women in the country. India is the mother of democracy and Tamil Nadu the epicenter.”
During India’s G20 Presidency this year, “I expect discussion and deliberation takes place about it in the university,” he said.

Later, replying to a question on decreased budget allocation for NEP, the Union Minister said that it was a wrong information. “The government and Finance Ministry were extending full support to the new education policy and in the next budget more funds will be allocated,” he said.
