    SRINAGAR: A Cordon & Search Operation (CASO) which was launched in the Padshahi Bagh area of Srinagar outskirts has concluded peacefully on Monday late afternoon.

    Local sources said that joint forces cordoned off Naikpora area of Padshahi Bagh and conducted door-to-door searches.

    “A large number of troops and cops arrived in dozens of vehicles and cordoned off our locality. They went from house to house and conducted searches and checked the identity cards of locals. Even drones were pressed into service during the search operation,” said a local.

    The cordon was lifted after over 3 hours of the search operation, he added.

    Police sources also confirmed saying that information about the suspicious movement had been received from the area. They said no arrests were made during the search operation. [KNT]

    Massive CASO Launched, Top Officers On-Site

    SRINAGAR: Security forces have launched extensive Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) in various villages of Mendhar sub-division, with senior officers of both the army and police present at the spot.

    The forces have launched this massive CASO after a deadly attack by militants on an army vehicle in Bhata Dhurian, Poonch in which five army personnel lost their lives, with critical injuries to another personnel.

    The army in an official statement termed it as a militant attack. It said the vehicle caught fire and five army personnel lost their lives while one personnel is injured.

    An official said that both army and police have launched a search operation in the area. “Heavy deployment of forces has been made and many villages including Bhata Dhurian, Nar forest, Sanjiote, and Kotan have been cordoned and intense searches are going on,” he said.

    Senior army and police officers are also camping at site monitoring the operation that has been launched to track the attackers, the official added. (KNO)

    Baramulla, Mar 07: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two TRF militant associates along with ammunition from Tangmarg village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The case under the Arms and UA(P) Act has also been registered.

    A police spokesperson told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that during the cordon and search operation (CASO) at Monchkhud Kunzer village of Tangmarg in Baramulla, two suspects were arrested who during interrogation revealed that they are working for Lashkar offshoot TRF.

    “Two AK 47 Magazines, 15 AK 47 rounds were recovered from their possession, besides 20 blank posters of TRF were also seized”, he said.

    The official identified the arrested overground workers (OGW’s) as Khurshid Ahmad Khan son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Reyaz Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Mohi ud Din Khan – both the residents of Zandpal area of Kunzer.

    “The arrestees had obtained the ammunition in a bid to carry out the attacks in Tangmarg areas”, officials added.

    Meanwhile, a case under sections of Arms and UA (P) Act stands registered in Police station Kunzer, while further investigation has been set into the motion—(KNO)
