Amaravati: A police officer in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalle district, who was found using a car seized in a ganja smuggling case, has been transferred.

Deputy Superintendent of Police B. Sunil has been shifted to the police headquarters.

The action was taken after a senior IPS officer from the office of Director General of Police submitted a report after an inquiry.

Sunil was found using a car seized in July last year in a ganja (cannabis) smuggling case. This came to light last week when the car, in which the DSP was travelling along with his family members, met with an accident in Visakhapatnam.

The car was seized when some persons smuggling ganja had escaped leaving behind the vehicle. It was kept at Anakapalle rural police station.

The number plate of the seized vehicle was changed with another number plate and it was allegedly being used by the police officer for personal purposes for the last four months.

The Superintendent of Police had also received other complaints against the DSP. Aftera probe by a senior officer, he was transferred.

Men found charred in car: Owaisi targets Cong and BJP, meets bereaved families

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday alleged that “delay” by the Rajasthan government in acting on the missing complaint lodged by the family members of the two men in the Bharatpur case allowed the accused to flee the state.

Owaisi also met the families of Junaid (35) and Nasir (25) whose charred bodies were found in a car in Haryana after the two men from Bharatpur district of Rajasthan were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes. The Hyderabad MP also alleged that such incidents occur because “BJP supports and shelters such organisations due to which police do not take immediate action against them”.

The Rajasthan Police had on Friday arrested one of the five persons linked to the Bajrang Dal named in the FIR lodged at Gopalgarh police station.

“Had the Rajasthan government taken immediate action on the missing complaint related to Junaid and Nasir, then they (abductors) would have not been able to cross the Rajasthan border,” Owaisi who is on a two-day tour of the state told reporters in Alwar district.

He said it was a painful incident.

“If the BJP keeps sheltering such radicals then it is not right for the country. These incidents occur, only and only, because the BJP helps such organisations, gives them strength and shelters them due to which police and administration do not take immediate action,” Owaisi alleged. He said that it is not a matter of Muslims, but of all those people who believe in rule of law and the Constitution.

“Nobody has the right to take the law into their hands otherwise where will be the need for police, administration and courts,” he said.

Later in the day, Owaisi met the grieving family members of Junaid in Ghatmeeka village to express condolences.

“Junaid had six children and his elder brother, who is mentally challenged, had seven children. He had the responsibility of all the children. One murder has orphaned 13 children. It is a matter of regret that police of Haryana and Rajasthan have given free hand to these goons, terrorists and criminals,” he told reporters in Ghatmeeka village.

Haryana and Rajasthan police should arrest such gangs and put them in jail, he said and also targeted the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also addressed a public meeting in Kaman town as a part of his party’s campaign for Assembly elections. Owaisi said that he is overwhelmed by the support of the people of Bharatpur. He said that his party will fight the assembly elections with full strength and emerge victorious.

Junaid had a criminal record of cattle smuggling and five cases were registered against him at different police stations, a police officer said.

The last rites of the two, who were related to each other, were conducted on Friday after authorities announced financial assistance of Rs 20.5 lakh to each of the affected families.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday demanded a CBI probe into the matter and alleged that the Bajrang Dal’s name was being dragged into the case due to “political bias”.

Bajrang Dal is the youth wing of the VHP.

On the victims’ families alleging the Bajrang Dal’s role in the killings, the Rajasthan BJP said it is not justified to malign an organisation before the investigation is completed.

“Whether the accused have links with the Bajrang Dal or are cow vigilantes, it is a matter of investigation. It is not justified to malign any organisation. It will be better if the police take action against those who are guilty,” state BJP spokesperson Ramlal Sharma told reporters on Friday.

AP: Anakapalli DSP caught using car seized in a Ganja smuggling case

    [ad_1]

Anakapalli Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B. Sunil was reportedly found using a car, which was seized in a Ganja smuggling case, for his personal use.

The incident came to light when the officer travelling in the car along with members of his family met with an accident in Visakhapatnam.

The videos of the DSP on the four-wheeler soon went viral on Sunday followed by several TDP leaders from Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam districts criticising the police officer for his action.

The car was seized by the Kasimkota police in July last year after the peddlers sped away leaving the car in the Mandal in the Anakapalle district.

Later, the accused asked the police to hand over the car to his mother.

However, his mother had left for Rajasthan by the time the police shifted the car to Anakapalle rural police station.

Since then, the police have been reportedly using the seized car as no case was registered nor complaint launched by any.

Also, the number plate of the car was reportedly changed and given to the DSP to go to a hospital in Visakhapatnam to meet one of his family members, who was undergoing treatment.

Police have sought the details and initiated a probe into the matter.

UP: Drunk container driver drags car for 3 km, passengers escape

    [ad_1]

Meerut: In yet another hit-and-drag case, a 22-wheel container truck hit a car in Meerut and then dragged it for about 3 kilometres as bystanders looked on in shock.

Visuals of the hatchback being pushed by the truck are now viral on social media.

Fortunately, all the four occupants of the car jumped out in time and escaped any serious injury.

According to local residents, the car was dragged for about 3 kilometres. They shouted out to the truck driver, asking him to stop, but the heavy vehicle drove on and only came to a halt after police gave chase and intercepted it.

The driver, who was reportedly drunk, has been taken into custody.

The incident reportedly followed an altercation between the car occupants and the truck driver.

Earlier, a day ago, a speeding truck hit a horse-driven cart used in weddings — carrying five people in Meerut. Three people, including two brothers, were killed in the incident and the remaining two suffered injuries, police said.

The truck driver is on the run.

The Meerut truck drag has yet again brought rash driving under the spotlight and raised serious questions on enforcement of traffic rules in a country which reports nearly 2 lakh accident deaths annually.

  • J&K: Car showroom bulldozed amid tight security arrangement

J&K: Car showroom bulldozed amid tight security arrangement

    [ad_1]

Jammu: Authorities on Saturday demolished a car showroom during an anti-encroachment drive to retrieve state land here, a week after abandoning the exercise in the face of stone-pelting by a group of agitated locals.

The showroom of M G Hector at Malik market along Narwal bypass was demolished by the revenue department under stringent security arrangements, officials said.

They said police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in strength in the locality and adjoining Bhatindi, Sunjwan and Channi before the bulldozers were moved in the morning to bring down the building.

The bypass from Bhatindi to the Sunjwan Army garrison was also closed for vehicular traffic, while security forces were seen patrolling the interior localities to maintain law and order.

On February 4, the area witnessed stone-pelting when the joint teams of revenue and police officials started razing the building, forcing them to abandon the process.

Several persons were arrested following the clashes which had left a policeman injured.

Even as major political parties including the National Conference, the Congress and the PDP have voiced their concerns against the drive and demanded an immediate end to it, the authorities have so far retrieved more than 10 lakh kanals of land across Jammu and Kashmir after the Commissioner Secretary, Revenue department, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri directed all deputy commissioners to ensure 100 percent removal of encroachments from the state land including Roshni and Kahcharai (grazing) on January 7.
