Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidates are finalised at the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) office to prevent the victory of SP nominees.
“The BSP has strayed from the path of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and its founder Kanshi Ram. The BSP has colluded with the BJP and works as the B-team of the ruling party. In the previous assembly elections, the BJP office finalised the BSP candidates. The BSP candidates were fielded not for victory, but to prevent the SP candidates from winning,” he said.
“All the raids by CBI, ED and income tax department are being carried out on opposition leaders with political intentions.”
The SP chief claimed the raids were being executed to discredit the opposition parties because they were standing firm against the ruling BJP.
“But the public is aware and understands all the raids are motivated by the approaching Lok Sabha polls,” he said.
Akhilesh Yadav said raids on a perfumer in Kannauj had unleashed the propaganda that money was found with the trader who had made the “Samajwadi perfume”.
“But when the truth surfaced, it was exposed that the trader was associated with the BJP. The BJP gets investigation agencies to do such raids before elections and those found tainted by the CBI, ED, and income tax department, join the BJP and enter a safe zone. Raids are no longer carried out at their places,” he said.
Akhilesh Yadav also attacked the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh asking it whether it will take “bulldozer” action against an IPS officer whose old video of the officer demanding money from a businessman emerged on social media on Sunday.

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has released the first list of candidates for upcoming assembly polls in Karnataka.
As per the announcement, Lateef Khan Amir Khan Pathan is going to contest from Belagavi North-11 whereas, Durgappa Kashappa Bijawad and Allabaksh Mehboob Sab Bijapur are candidates from Hubli-Dhadwad-East-72 and Basavana Bhagewadi-28 respectively.
AIMIM to contest in Rajasthan too
Earlier, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi announced that his party will contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan and Karnataka.
Addressing the 65th formation day celebrations of AIMIM at its headquarters in Darussalam, he also exuded confidence that the party will increase its strength in Telangana in the elections scheduled later this year.
Owaisi asked his party cadres to gear up for the Telangana Assembly elections. “The poll bugle for the Telangana Assembly elections has been sounded,” he said.
Karnataka, Rajasthan and Telangana Assembly polls
While Karnataka is scheduled to go for assembly elections before May 2023, the polls in Rajasthan and Telangana will be held before the end of the current year.
The elections in Karnataka will elect 224 MLAs whereas, polls in Telangana and Rajasthan will elect 119 and 200 MLAs respectively.
In Karnataka, BJP is struggling to retain power and making all efforts to reform the government after the polls.
On the other hand, the party is leaving no stone unturned to win a majority of seats in the Karnataka and Telangana Assembly elections.
In Telangana, TRS-friendly party AIMIM may also consider an option to increase their seat share in the upcoming polls in the state. Currently, it has seven MLAs in the state assembly.
Host Shannon Bream pressed Pompeo, saying that his description of who he didn’t want in the White House sounded a lot like Trump, his former boss.
“It’s not about former President Trump. It’s not about President Biden. It’s about the American people and getting this right,” Pompeo answered, before telling Bream he was not “dodging” her question.
He also said he would decide whether to run or not in “the next couple months.”
Pompeo is one of a number of prominent Republicans seen as potential challengers to the former president for the 2024 GOP nomination.
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy have entered the race, and others, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, are considered possible entrants. Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said Sunday he would not be entering the race.
Pompeo, who also spoke about current international crises and the origins of Covid-19, did say he thought he could do better as president than recent holders of the nation’s highest office when it comes to fiscal policy and government debt.
“I think,” he said, “a President Pompeo or any conservative president will do better than not only we did during the four years of the Trump administration, but Barack Obama, George Bush. The list is long, Shannon, of folks who come to Washington on one theory and aren’t prepared to stand up and explain to the American people how we’re actually going to get that right.”
