BJP protests crores spent on renovation of Kejriwal’s ‘palatial bungalow’, AAP plans counter

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The BJP and AAP continued to spar over renovation of Delhi Chief Minister’s official residence on Thursday, with the leaders of saffron outfit staging a protest with a replica of a mansion alleging crores of rupees were spent on the “palatial bungalow”.

Kejriwal, reacting for the first time over the issue, shared a video on his tweeter handle saying “Delhi public’s answer to the BJP….What does Delhi public say on the row over Rs 45 crore spent on Kejriwal’s bungalow.”

The AAP will stage a massive protest on Friday against the ‘country’s ruler’ for “wastage” of taxpayers money, senior party leader Raghav Chadha said.

Leading the protest by Delhi BJP near Delhi Chief Minister’s residence, Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said “the fate of Mahmmood Ghaznavi and Muhammad Ghori who looted Delhi, awaits Kejriwal one day at the hands of the people of Delhi.”

The BJP has been assailing the AAP and Kejriwal over Rs 45 crore spent on renovation of Chief Minister’s residence at 6, Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines area.

The BJP protesters started a march from Chandagi Ram AKhara, where a replica of a mansion was kept symbolising renovated “bungalow” of the Chief Minister and a party worker sitting in front of it wearing a mask of Kejriwal.

Addressing the protesters, Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari alleged Kejriwal has covered his house with curtains of Rs 1.5 crore but his “double faced character” has been exposed in front of the people of Delhi.

Former Union minister Harsh Vardhan said that the BJP will continue its struggle until the people of Delhi are freed from a “dishonest and corrupt” Chief Minister.

Hitting at the BJP, Chadha took swipe at the Prime Minister without naming anyone.

A new chapter has been added to the story of “King” and the AAP will stage a massive protest against the “luxurious lifestyle” on the hard earned money of the people, Chadha said.

“When this king travels the world at the expense of the taxpayers, he does so in a private aircraft that costs the citizens of the country Rs 8400 crore. When this king travelled the world at the cost of taxpayers in the last couple of months, it cost his government Rs 1500 crore,” he said.

When a generic repair work was to be done in the official residence of this king, this was only done with the purpose of beautification of the space, it cost the government exchequer Rs 90 crore, Chadha alleged.

Rahul Gandhi vacates official bungalow, says ‘Price for speaking truth’

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said he was paying the price for speaking the truth and vowed to continue to raise people’s issues as he vacated his official bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi and shifted to his mother Sonia Gandhi’s residence on Saturday.

Gandhi, who was disqualified from Lok Sabha last month following his conviction in a defamation case, was asked to vacate the 12, Tughlaq Lane bungalow by April 22.

“I have paid the price for speaking the truth, I am ready to pay any price,” he said, adding he would continue to raise issues of price rise and corruption with double the force.

Saturday morning, Gandhi moved out all his belongings from the bungalow where he had been staying for almost two decades.

Gandhi, his mother Sonia Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the bungalow in the morning. He handed over keys of the vacated house to officials of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

He also shook hands with CPWD officials and thanked them.

Talking to reporters while leaving the bungalow, he said, “I have no problem even if it has been snatched away from me. This house was given to me by the people of India. I will stay with the former Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) at 10, Janpath for some time and then find some other way.” Asked that he could have requested for more time to vacate the bungalow, Gandhi said, “I do not want to stay in this house.” Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said her brother was very courageous and “not scared of anyone and he will continue his struggle”.

All this is happening because he spoke the truth about this government, she said.

The Congress said the government may “evict” Gandhi from a house but he occupies a place in the hearts and homes of crores of Indians.

The party also launched a “MeraGharAapkaGhar” campaign on social media with party leaders offering their homes to Gandhi.

The Congress said on its official Twitter handle in Hindi that “this country is the home of Rahul Gandhi. Rahul who resides in the hearts of people.” “Rahul’s relation with the public is unbreakable. Some see in him their son, some brother, some their leader…. Rahul belongs to everyone and everyone belongs to Rahul. This is the reason why today the country is saying- Rahul ji, my house-your house,” the Congress said, using the hashtag “#MeraGharAapkaGhar”.

AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said, “They may evict you from a house, but you will always have a place in all our homes and hearts, Rahul ji. We know that such episodes won’t deter you from raising the voice of the people and speaking truth to power.” Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said Rahul Gandhi is neither worried about the post nor about the government house. “He did not compromise on his principles even after risking everything,” he said.

He also took a swipe at former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who continues to be at his official residence allotted to him as the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, saying Rahul Gandhi is not a “Ghulam”.

Another Congress spokesperson, Supriya Shrinate, said, “A house is not made of four walls and a cement roof. Home is a feeling – of peace, of love. And when crores of people open the doors of their hearts and homes for you, then it is even better.” “Rahul ji vacated his official residence today – his goal and destination is much higher than a house, much higher. No one can scare or silence this satyagrahi of truth because he is ready to pay any cost. #MeraGharAapkaGhar A small proof of this country’s love for you Rahul ji,” Shrinate said on Twitter.

“Today Rahul Gandhi vacates his home at Tughlaq Lane in response to the LokSabha Secretariat’s order. The Court gave him 30 days to appeal and the HC or SC could still reinstate him, but his exemplary gesture to move out shows his respect for the rules,” said party MP Shashi Tharoor in a tweet.

Gandhi, the former Congress chief, was disqualified from Parliament after a Surat court convicted and awarded a two-year sentence to him in a defamation case over his Modi surname remarks made in Kolar in Karnataka in 2019.

He moved a sessions court against the magistrate’s order but his plea was rejected. A relief on his conviction and disqualification could have paved the way for him to retain his official bungalow, allotted to him as a Wayanad MP.

Gandhi will now move the high court against the sessions court order.

  • Conman Kiran Patel’s wife held for illegally occupying senior citizen’s bungalow

Conman Kiran Patel’s wife held for illegally occupying senior citizen’s bungalow

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police on Tuesday said it has arrested conman Kiran Patel’s wife Malini Patel for allegedly trying to illegally take over the bungalow of a senior citizen Jagdish Chavda (63).

In the FIR both Kiran Patel and Malini have been named as accused.

Kiran Patel is accused of impersonating as a PMO official in Jammu and Kashmir. He was arrested and is in judicial custody.

A case of cheating was filed against Malini based on the allegations of the victim. In this case both Kiran Patel and his wife Malini have been named as accused.

The bungalow which they tried to occupy is located in a posh area of Ahmedabad. Kiran Patel had threatened the bungalow owner that he had links with the PMO.

Chavda lodged a complaint with the local police and finally a FIR was registered. He said in his complaint that Kiran Patel contacted him in the first week of February and told him that he was a property dealer.

Kiran Patel tried to convince the victim that if the bungalow is renovated they might get a good price. Chavda fell into their trap and agreed to their suggestion. Later, Malini and some interior designers met him. The accused took Rs 35 lakh initially from Chavda. Due to the renovation work, Chavda had to shift.

Later Chavda came to know that Kiran Patel and Malini had changed the name plate and had been living in the house claiming to be the owners. They didn’t even renovate the house.

Now the police has made the first arrest in the matter.

Disqualified as MP, Rahul Gandhi asked to vacate official bungalow by April 22

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was on Monday served a notice to vacate the government bungalow allotted to him by April 22 following his disqualification as a member of Lok Sabha after his conviction in a defamation case last week, official sources said.

The Housing Committee of the Lok Sabha took the decision following which the secretariat of the House served the notice on the former Congress president, a Z-plus protectee who has been living in the 12, Tughlaq Lane bungalow since 2005.

The development is likely to further escalate the political fight between the BJP and the Congress and its allies who have targeted the government over the issue.

A local court in Gujarat had convicted Gandhi in a criminal defamation case on March 23 and sentenced him to two years in jail. The two-year jail term triggered his disqualification as Lok Sabha member from the date of the verdict. Gandhi was granted bail to allow him to appeal to a higher court in a month.

A senior official said an MP has to vacate the official bungalow within one month of losing his membership.

Sources said Gandhi can write to the Housing Committee seeking an extension, and the panel can take a decision depending on the validity of the reasons cited by him.

The committee has 11 members drawn from different parties and is headed BJP MP C R Patil.

The notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat was marked to various departments, including the Directorate of Estates and the New Delhi Municipal Council, for necessary actions.

Congress member Manickam Tagore, who is a member of the committee, hit out at the government over the decision and linked it to Gandhi’s trenchant criticism of its policies.

When Gandhi spoke against a few corporate groups getting all benefits under this government, his security was given to the CRPF from the SPG and when he spoke on February 7 about “Adani & Modi friendship” he was disqualified as an MP, Tagore alleged.

“When RG spoke on March 25 the about Mo-Adani… 27th March they want to take the house also. Wah Narender baba. What else can you take from him now? Rahul Gandhi speaks truth and he is fighting for India against the wealth being gifted to Adani and make him super rich,” he tweeted.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla hit back, saying a government-allotted bungalow is not one’s personal property

Sisodia’s family given 5 days to vacate official bungalow

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia’s family has been given five days to vacate the official bungalow as his Mathura Road residence has been allotted to the newly-sworn in Delhi Minister, Atishi.

The Public Works Department (PWD) in an order said: “The Competent Authority is pleased to offer the Bungalow No. AB-17, Mathura Road, to Atishi, Minister in the Delhi government.”

The PWD order asked the occupants to vacate it on or before March 21.

According to the order, the directions were issued in line with provisions of the Delhi Administration Allotment of Government Residences (General Pool) Rules, 1977 that govern such allotments against “the invocation of penal provisions under the rules” if not vacated.

“Where the allottee is already in occupation of any house earlier allotted, the allottee will have to vacate the house within 15 days after taking the possession of the new house allotted in lieu of the previous house. The allottee shall also be required to submit a Clearance Certificate from the DDO concerned for recovery of license fee/ water charges relating to the accommodation earlier allotted,” the order read.

Talking about the order, AAP MP Sanjay Singh said: “Atishi is a minister and the bungalow has been allotted in her name, what is wrong with it? Manish Sisodia is our brother, his family is our family, we will take care of him. The BJP is treating Sisodia like a terrorist… the party should not play games.”

Meanwhile, BJP’s IT in-charge Amit Malviya said: “Kejriwal had promised to look after Manish Sisodia and his family. But he was removed as minister almost immediately, while Satyendar Jain was retained as minister for nine months when he was in jail. Now, Sisodia has been asked to vacate the bungalow so that it can be allotted to Atishi.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is no more owner of his bungalow in Mumbai

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: All is not well in Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s personal life. The actor is in a legal tussle with his wife Aaliya Siddiqui and it seems that indifferences between the couple is rearing its ugly head again after Aaliya and her children were barred from entering Nawazuddin’s house.

The actor’s estranged wife had shared a video on Thursday on Instagram in which she claimed that Nawazuddin Siddiqui had barred her and her children from entering his house. Reacting to the allegations of her wife, the actor, through his spokesperson, has issued a clarification on the matter.

Actor’s spokesperson has said that Nawazuddin Siddiqui has “already registered the property in his ammi, Mehrunisa Siddiqui’s name”. He said that the decision to not allow Aaliya to enter the house was made by Mehrunisa’s caretaker. The spokesperson added that the house belongs to Mehrunisa and not Nawazuddin.

“Nawaz is devoid of any decision-making power on anyone’s entrance in the property. But the caretaker of Ammi has said that only kids are allowed in the property and only Aaliya is not allowed as the property belongs to Ammi now,” the spokesperson further added speaking to media.

According to the spokesperson’s statement, Aaliya’s claim that she and the kids were barred from entering the house by Nawazuddin is baseless and false as the kids are welcome in the house anytime. The spokesperson also informed that Nawazuddin has brought a flat for Aaliya in Mumbai that she has given for rent.

Watch Aaliya’s video in which she accused Nawazuddin for throwing her and their children out of the bungalow.

Nawazuddin too was stopped from entering the house earlier, when he came to meet her ailing wife. Watch video
