BRS to contest all 175 constituencies in upcoming AP assembly polls

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh (AP) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) state president Thota Chandrasekhar on Wednesday said that the party will contest from all the 175 constituencies during the next Assembly elections in the state.

He said issues pertaining to farmers, youth and women were on the party’s agenda and argued that the nation was in critical condition, with farmers and youth suffering from lack of opportunities.

Chandrasekhar said that after BRS comes to power “the Telangana development model will be implemented in Andhra Pradesh for the latter’s swift growth.” He participated in a demonstration in Vijayawada earlier this week with the BRS cadre, and on Wednesday he decorated the Vangaveeti Ranga statue on Bandar Road.

Addressing to reporters on the occasion, Chandrasekhar claimed that the BRS was picking up steam in national politics and that this development was also being seen in Andhra Pradesh. He denounced the BJP-led federal government, saying it had done Andhra Pradesh grievous injustice by not carrying out the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He made note of the fact that the people of Andhra Pradesh were abandoned and lacked even a state.

“If voted to power, the BRS will build the State capital within three to four years. We will also complete construction of the Polavaram project, establish Kadapa Steel Plant, Vizag railway zone, Duggarajapatnam port and implement other projects assured under AP Reorganisation Act,” he added.

He said that the Congress was no longer a power to be reckoned with and was unable to challenge the BJP. As a result, the BRS created the slogan “Ab ki Baar, Kisan Sarkar,” providing the voice to the poor that was sorely lacking.

NCW summons BRS MLC for derogatory remark against Governor

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Telangana legislator Padi Kaushik Reddy to appear before it on February 21 in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

Taking suo motu notice of the foul language used by Kaushik Reddy, a Member of Legislative Council (MLC), the commission asked him to appear before it in person.

The women’s panel stated in an official communication that the remark is dangerous and demeaning to her dignity.

The commission also made it clear in its notice dated February 14 that if he fails to appear, the commission would take necessary action.

Kaushik Reddy had allegedly made derogatory remarks against the Governor for not giving assent to the Bills sent to her for approval by the state government. He used foul language while commenting that the Governor was deliberately sitting on the Bills.

Akula Srivani, a BJP corporator in Greater Hyderabad, had lodged a police complaint against the MLC on January 28. She urged the Saroornagar police to take action against Kaushik Reddy for using abusive, vulgar and unparliamentary language against the Governor.

On January 26, the video clip of Kaushik Reddy using the abusive word in Telugu went viral on social media.

He had made the remark amid a rift between Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The differences between the BRS government and the Governor had first cropped up in 2021 when she did not approve the Cabinet’s recommendation to nominate Kaushik Reddy to the Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota in social service category.

When the Governor delayed clearing the file, the BRS government sent Kaushik Reddy to the Upper House under the Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) quota.

Telangana: Sharmila arrested for inappropriate remarks against BRS MLA

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Police on Sunday arrested YSR Telangana Party president Y.S. Sharmila for making inappropriate remarks against a legislator of ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested by the police in Mahabubabad town during her ongoing padayatra.

Police arrested her from her night halt camp and took her to Hyderabad to prevent any law and order problems in the town.

She had made some objectionable remarks against B. Shankar Naik, the MLA from Mahabubabad during a public meeting in the town on Saturday evening.

A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 504A (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and section 3 (1) R of Scheduled Castes Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against Sharmila at Mahabubabad town police station on a complaint by a local BRS leader.

Sharmila had alleged that the MLA was involved in corruption and land encroachments and had made certain comments against him.

BRS workers also staged a protest over the YSRTP leader’s ‘inappropriate remarks’ on the MLA in the district.

After a break of more than two months, Sharmila had resumed her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra early this month.

She resumed the padayatra from the place where it was stopped in November last year.

The BRS workers had allegedly set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles in Warangal district on November 28. Later, police arrested Sharmila as she refused to call off the padayatra in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila was later shifted to Hyderabad. The next day, she was arrested again amid high drama while leading a protest march towards the chief minister’s official residence. She was driving a car damaged in the attack and wanted to stage a protest in front of the chief minister’s residence. The police, however, stopped her enroute. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

The padayatra, however, could not resume as the police had not given the permission.

The YSRTP approached Telangana High Court, which asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

Telangana BJP alleges arrest of its social media activist; says Hindutva scaring BRS

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday alleged the arrest of its social media activist, Parandham, and demanded his immediate release.

“Hindutva atmosphere is sending chills down spine of BRS ! They’re trying to intimidate us with police cases. Parandham,

@BJP4Telangana social media activist was arrested by police. We demand his immediate release. Those who fight for Hindu dharma are termed as communal in TS,” he tweeted.

Sanjay said that he will keeping speaking about his religion. “Why shouldn’t I speak about Hindu Dharma ? I will speak about my religion. We need to fight for protecting Hinduism & work for establishing Rama Rajya with passion, commitment & honesty. Else people can’t survive & women will be left unprotected in kingdom of Razakars,” he further said.

The reason for the alleged arrest is yet to be known.

“Police ignore those who insult #Hinduism but will arrest those who work for protecting it. War has started. We will go to any extent to protect our BJP Karyakartas and social media activists. We’re ready to head to DGP Office or Pragathi Bhavan if necessary. Jai Sri Ram !,” he further said.

Sanjay on Saturday morning gave a call to the people of the state to set up statues of Maratha king Shivaji across all villages and towns in the state.

“Chatrapathi Shivaji worked hard to establish Hindu rule. His blood boiled when Mughals urinated on Shivlings as a child. Once he grew up, he warred with the Mughals and threw them out,” Sanjay remarked at a Shivaji statue launch event in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Sanjay further called for uniting the Hindu society by taking inspiration from Shivaji. “If Shivaji’s statues are not set up, there is a danger of the Hindu society being made fun of. I urge you all to not do time pass politics,” he said addressing the saffron party’s cadre.

The state BJP chief also said that the Hindu faith is not anti any other faith. “But it has become a fashion for some to insult Hinduism. It’s unfair to not respond when some people do that. Lord Ayyappa and Saraswati were insulted and a basic protest was also not put up,” he said.

Sanjay was referring to Bairi Naresh’s remarks on Hindu Gods that led to a huge controversy in the state.

Telangana: Explosives seized in Nizamabad in another plot to kill BRS MLA

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Police in Telangana’s Nizamabad district seized explosive materials from a house in what is suspected to be another conspiracy to kill a legislator of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

As many as 95 gelatin sticks and 10 detonators were seized from the house of a woman Bonta Suguna, who was earlier arrested for plotting to murder A. Jeevan Reddy, a member of the Telangana Assembly from Armoor constituency in Nizamabad district.

The explosives were seized from Suguna’s house at Kanteshwar Housing Board colony on the outskirts of Nizamabad town.

The Police arrested Suguna (41). P. Prasad Goud (43) has been named as the second accused in the case. He is currently in jail in another case.

On August 8, 2022, Prasad Goud was arrested when he barged into the house of the legislator in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills and allegedly pointed a gun at him.

On seeing the accused, Jeevan Reddy shouted to alert his staff and the accused fled from there.

He was later arrested by the police, who also seized a country-made gun, an air pistol and a button knife from him.

Four others, including Suguna, were later arrested for allegedly helping Prasad Goud to execute his plan to kill the MLA.

According to police, Prasad Goud bore a grudge against the Armoor MLA as he believed that he was responsible for the suspension of his wife as the sarpanch of Kalladi village in Makloor mandal.

Police investigations had revealed that Suguna informed Prasad that a country-made gun was available with Munna Kumar of Bihar for Rs 60,000. On Prasad’s direction, she later transferred the amount to Munna Kumar.

The accused were later released on bail. Following reliable information that the accused were again plotting to murder the MLA, the police searched the house of Suguna and seized the explosives. She told police that Prasad Goud had sent gelatin sticks and detonators to her house on January 9.

Telangana Congress in charge rules out alliance with BRS

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Congress incharge for Telangana, Manikrao Thakre on Tuesday ruled out any alliance with the state’s ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Hours after Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s remarks created a storm in the party, the central leader made the clarification on his arrival in Hyderabad.

At the airport lounge, Venkat Reddy, AICC secretaries Nadeem Javeed, Bose Raju, Venugopal and others called on Thakare. Venkat Reddy is understood to have clarified his remarks.

Later talking to reporters, Thakare said that Congress will get majority on its own and it will not require alliance with anybody.

“I have not seen what Venkat Reddy said. I will react after going through what he said,” the Congress incharge said. He made it clear that the Congress is committed to the statement made by party leader Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Telangana, ruling out an alliance with BRS.

Earlier in the day, Venkat Reddy, Congress MP from Bhuvanagiri constituency, triggered a storm in the party with his prediction that Telangana Assembly elections will throw a hung house. He made the forecast that no party will secure 60 seats in the 119-member Assembly.

The MP also stated that since Congress is a secular party, the BRS will have to enter into an alliance with it after the elections.

Venkat Reddy’s remarks evoked strong reaction from several leaders in the party. They reiterated that Congress will not have any alliance with the BRS. Condemning the MP’s remarks, Addanki Dayakar, Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders also exuded confidence that Congress will secure a majority on its own.

They criticised Venkat Reddy for creating confusion among party ranks with his comments about alliances.

However, Venkat Reddy denied that his remarks were against the party’s stand. He alleged that some people were creating unnecessary controversy. He said on the basis of surveys in social media, he made a forecast that there will be a hung Assembly.
