Broadcast bloodbath: Tucker Carlson, Don Lemon are out in major media shake-up

    [ad_1]

Carlson’s last program was Friday. “Fox News Tonight” will air at 8 p.m. EST — previously the slot for “Tucker Carlson Tonight” — starting Monday as an “interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”

Lemon was fiery in his response to being ousted, stating on Twitter that he was “stunned” that he had been terminated by the network.

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play,” he wrote.

Though, CNN, in a tweet said Lemon’s statement is “inaccurate” and that he was “offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

The exits come ahead of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, slated for Saturday. The annual event, attended for decades by presidents from both parties, celebrates the First Amendment and honors journalists. The headliner usually takes the stage to deliver the traditional WHCA dinner roast. This year’s headliner, Roy Wood Jr., said he already threw out his script following the exits of Lemon and Carlson.

Both anchors have faced their fair share of controversy in recent months leading up to their departures on Monday.

Lemon, who had worked at CNN for 17 years, said on-air in February that presidential hopeful Nikki Haley “isn’t in her prime” and that a woman is “in her prime in her 20s, 30s, 40s.” He later apologized for the comments on Twitter and didn’t appear on “CNN This Morning” the next day.

Earlier this month, Variety published a report claiming that Lemon made other offensive comments about women on air in the past and alleged inappropriate behavior toward female colleagues at CNN.

News of Carlson’s departure came the week after Fox News settled Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit for $787.5 million. Carlson, along with hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, privately mocked regular guests such as Donald Trump’s attorneys, Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, while continuing to promote conspiracy theories to their audience.

Last month, the White House joined in widespread condemnation of Carlson, singling him out for his misleading portrayal of the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The revelations were made public as part of the lawsuit by Dominion.

Former “Tucker Carlson Tonight” producer Abby Grossberg is also suing the network after stating that she was unlawfully fired as an act of retaliation.

Carlson first joined Fox News as a contributor in 2009, and in 2017, Carlson took over the network’s 8 p.m. hour after Bill O’Reilly was forced out. Carlson was one of the most-watched hosts on the cable news network, with an average audience of 3.2 million viewers.

On Monday morning, Fox News had still been previewing Carlson’s show, teasing an interview with presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy that would air Monday night.

Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner addressed Tucker Carlson’s departure Monday by stating, “We have some news from within our Fox family. Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have mutually agreed to part ways.”

Politicians as well as former and current TV hosts were quick to react to the news of the exits.

Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, who left the network in 2017, said the news was “Good for Tucker.”

“Trust me, he doesn’t need them,” Kelly said in a tweet.

Fox host Sean Hannity posted to Twitter, “*LATER LEMON!*” but did not address Carlson’s departure.

“Good News: “The dumbest man on television,’ Don Lemon, has finally been fired from Fake News CNN,” former President Donald Trump said on Truth Social. “My only question is, WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG?” Trump posted on Truth Social.

And in a tweet, Russian-backed English-language news outlet RT News appeared to offer Carlson a job.

“Hey @TuckerCarlson, you can always question more with @RT_com,” RT News wrote.

  • Because Amici is not broadcast today: the reason, February 27, 2023, Channel 5

Because Amici is not broadcast today: the reason, February 27, 2023, Channel 5

Why isn’t Amici broadcast on Canale 5 today, 27 February 2023? The traditional afternoon appointment with Maria De Filippi’s talent show is not broadcast because the funeral of Maurizio Costanzo, who died on Friday at the age of 84, is being held today. The great journalist was Maria’s husband and this is why Amici is not on the air, as indeed has happened in recent days for all Maria De Filippi’s programs. Mediaset has overturned its schedules in recent days. In recent days, other programs such as Men and Women (not even today) and You’ve Got Mail have not been aired.

We cannot say with certainty when Maria De Filippi’s programs will be back on the air with the episodes already recorded. Certainly this afternoon Canale 5 will first show Beautiful and to follow from 2 pm the special Ciao Maurizio, with the live coverage of Costanzo’s funeral. Hosting, from Verissimo’s studio, will be Silvia Toffanin, to follow live the solemn funeral of Maurizio Costanzo, which will take place at the Church of the Artists in Piazza del Popolo in Rome starting at 3 pm. The connection with the special will be for 2 pm. The special will be connected from Rome by correspondents Dario Maltese and Susanna Galeazzi and guests in the studio in Milan by Cesara Buonamici and Katia Ricciarelli.

    Streaming and TV

We have seen why Amici di Maria De Filippi is not on air today, but where to see it on live TV and live streaming? The show, as mentioned, is broadcast free-to-air (free of charge) every day with daytime at 4.10 pm on Canale 5 (button five of the digital terrestrial remote control) and Sundays from around 2 pm, but for today it doesn’t go on wave for the funeral of Constantius. It will also be possible to follow it in live streaming through the platforms Mediaset Play and Witty TV.

Why Men and Women is not broadcast today: the reason. February 27, 2023, Channel 5

Why isn’t Men and Women today, Monday 27 February 2023, broadcast on Canale 5? Today’s episode of Maria De Filippi’s program is not aired to leave room for the live coverage of the funeral of Maurizio Costanzo, the great journalist and husband of Maria, who died on Friday at the age of 84. Canale 5 will follow Costanzo’s funeral live starting at 2 pm, with a special by Verissimo in collaboration with Tg5 entitled “Ciao Maurizio”.

That’s why Men and Women doesn’t air. Hosting, from Verissimo’s studio, there will be Silvia Toffanin, to follow live the solemn funeral of Maurizio Costanzo, which will take place at the Church of the Artists in Piazza del Popolo in Rome starting at 3 pm. The connection with the special will be for 2 pm.

The special will have the correspondents Dario Maltese and Susanna Galeazzi connected from Rome and guests in the studio in Milan Cesara Buonamici and Katia Ricciarelli. Appointment therefore on Canale 5 today, February 27, 2023, to follow the funeral of Maurizio Costanzo. “Ciao Maurizio” will document minute by minute the last farewell to Maurizio Costanzo, one of the most important figures in Italian journalism, culture and television who passed away at the age of 84 on 24 February.

    When he returns

We have seen why Men and Women are not on the air today, but when does the program hosted by Maria De Filippi return? In these days of mourning, all the programs of the presenter are obviously suspended, even if they are episodes that have already been recorded. A form of respect chosen by Mediaset which has distorted its programming to pay homage to a great man who has revolutionized television.

It is not yet known exactly when Men and Women and Maria De Filippi’s other programs such as C’è posta per te will be back on the air. Yesterday the Sunday appointment with Amici was not even aired. On the other hand, Maria is living through difficult days and in these days we have seen her very tried at her husband’s funeral home.

    History

Men and women is an Italian television program, conceived and hosted by Maria De Filippi, broadcast on Canale 5 since 16 September 1996. The television program was born in September 1996 as an “adult” version of De Filippi’s previous talk show Amici. While within that program youth problems and issues were discussed in a television context that gave space to the opinions of boys, Men and Women was initially conceived as a place where a couple could tell their story to discuss it with public. Starting from January 2001 the program, while maintaining the same title, took on a completely different format, becoming a program for meetings aimed at giving the possibility of establishing new sentimental relationships. In the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons, the transmission, in its classic version, was also open to homosexual people, while in the 2021/2022 season it welcomes the first transgender tronista.

    Streaming and TV

We have seen why today – February 27 – Men and Women is not on air, but where to see it on live TV and live streaming? The episodes are broadcast from Monday to Friday on Canale 5 at 2.45 pm. Not just tv. It will also be possible to follow it in live streaming on the app Mediaset Play or Witty TV.

Meta introduces broadcast channels on Instagram

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Meta has introduced new broadcast channels on Instagram, which is a one-to-many messaging tool that will allow creators to engage directly with their followers at scale.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement on the social networking platform with his own “Meta Channel.”

“Creators can also use voice notes to share their latest updates and behind-the-scenes moments, and even create polls to crowdsource fan feedback,” the company said in a blogpost on Thursday.

However, only creators can send messages in the broadcast channels and followers can react to content and vote in polls.

The company further mentioned that more features will be added to these channels in the coming months, such as the ability to bring another creator into the channel to discuss upcoming collaborations, crowdsource questions for an “ask me anything” and much more.

Once a creator gets access to broadcast channels and sends the first message from their Instagram inbox, their followers will receive a one-time notification to join the channel,” it added.

Moreover, followers can leave or mute these channels at any time and can also control their notifications from creators.

Creators can also encourage their followers to join by using the “join channel” sticker in Stories.

“We’re currently testing broadcast channels with a handful of creators in the US and plan to expand in the coming months,” Meta said.

“We’ll be testing broadcast channels in Messenger and on Facebook in the coming months,” it added.

  • Sky Sports to broadcast ICC tournaments in UK and Ireland till 2031

Sky Sports to broadcast ICC tournaments in UK and Ireland till 2031

    [ad_1]

Dubai: Sky Sports will broadcast all International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments in the UK and Ireland until the end of 2031 after signing a new eight-year deal with cricket’s world governing body.

For the first time, there will be a direct contractual relationship between the ICC and Sky Sports.

“We are delighted to partner with Sky Sports until 2031 as the home of ICC cricket in the UK and Ireland. For the first time the partnership will be a direct relationship with Sky Sports which gives us some exciting opportunities for innovative collaborations. I am confident this partnership can support our long-term ambition to attract more players and more fans to the game,” said Geoff Allardice, ICC Chief Executive, in an official statement on Friday.

Starting from 2024, the partnership will see Sky and its streaming platform NOW hold the ICC Broadcast and Digital rights for all men’s and women’s events at the pinnacle of the sport including the ICC Cricket World Cups and ICC T20 World Cups through to the end of 2031.

During the course of the partnership, there will be both a major international men’s and women’s event every year as well as a World Test Championship Final every two years.

The new deal reaffirms Sky as the long-term home of cricket in the UK and Ireland, broadcasting 28 international events between 2024 and 2031 across men’s, women’s and u19 cricket. This also includes three confirmed events on UK soil, the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2030.

“With more people watching cricket at the highest-level after England men’s and women’s successes in 2017, 2019 and 2022, our award-winning coverage strives to give cricket fans the complete experience, with all the action both on and off the pitch.

This new direct partnership with the ICC means that Sky Sports viewers in the UK & Ireland will continue to enjoy every ball, run, wicket and catch from every international tournament for many years to come, and we’re all hugely excited to see what’s in store,” said Jonathan Licht, Sky Sports MD.

ICC events have had registered record viewing in the UK in recent years. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 recorded the highest average audience for a cricket tournament in the UK to date and drew the highest ever UK TV peak for cricket of 8.8m viewers as Sky shared the rights to the Final with Channel 4.

England’s victory over Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final last year at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia was the highest viewed T20 match in the UK ever following a similar partnership with the terrestrial broadcaster.

Last year in August, Disney Star had bagged rights to broadcast all ICC men’s and women’s events in India on a four-year deal from 2024 to 2027. Less than 48 hours later, it announced that they had licensed the TV broadcasting rights of the Men’s and Under-19 events to Zee.
