BJP, RSS have ‘dangerous intention’ of bringing one-party rule to country: Gehlot

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said the BJP and the RSS have the “dangerous intention” of bringing one-party rule to the country, and cited Russia and China as examples.

Addressing farmers at a Kisan Sabha in Bikaner’s Jasrasar, he said BJP leaders keep talking about a “Congress-free” India.

“What is the meaning of BJP leaders talking about Congress-free India. What it means — a one-party rule. It is very dangerous intention of the RSS as well of the BJP. If the country does not understand this in time the coming generations will suffer and elections will be held like in Russia and China,” he said.

Under the one-party rule, elections will be fake and only one party will come to power again and again, he said.

It will also mean an end to the practice of politicians going to the poorest of the poor, to the Dalits, farmers and elders to seek their votes to become MLAs, MPs and Sarpanches, the Congress leader said.

China is a one-party system. Russia is not, but one party now dominates its parliament.

Gehlot said the agenda of the central government is taking a “dangerous turn” and the country needs to understand that.

The meeting was also addressed by AICC in-charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, PCC president Govind Singh Dotasra, former leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi and others.

Gehlot said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should break his silence over the issues related to the Adani group being raised by the Congress party.

He said PM Modi should also clarify his relationship with industrialist Gautam Adani.

Earlier, Gehlot inspected a ‘Mahangai Rahat Shivir’ being run by his government and interacted with the beneficiaries of various schemes of the state government.

  • Will Skelton credits Eddie Jones with ‘bringing life back’ to Australian rugby

Will Skelton credits Eddie Jones with ‘bringing life back’ to Australian rugby

    [ad_1]

La Rochelle’s second-row Will Skelton believes Eddie Jones has “brought some life back” to Australian rugby since rejoining the Wallabies in January as head coach.

Skelton’s most urgent appointment on a rugby field is against Exeter on Sunday, but the 30-year-old also hopes to feature in Australia’s World Cup plans this autumn.

Jones was dismissed as England head coach last December but, with nothing in his Rugby Football Union contract blocking him from working for a rival nation at the World Cup, he was swiftly hired by Rugby Australia as Dave Rennie was let go. Jones last held the post in 2005, having led his country to the 2003 World Cup final on home soil when they were defeated by England in extra time.

“When you look at the media, he’s definitely brought some life back into Aussie rugby,” Skelton said of Jones’s impact. “As a player it’s refreshing to have a new coach come in and bring in his style, his way of playing, which the boys have to buy into.”

Jones’s successful efforts to lure the 19-year-old Sydney Roosters back Joseph Suaalii into a code switch have also generated headlines in Australia. “The Suaalii signing is massive for the game,” Skelton said. “It’s putting rugby back in the papers back home.”

Skelton revealed he has recently lost sleep in order to attend Wallabies team activities online. “[We had] a few Zoom calls last week for the foreign players,” he said. “We had to tune in in the middle of the night and did a few meetings with the team … it was good to be a part of.”

Skelton has played in three of the past four Champions Cup finals, and is one of only six players to win the tournament with two different clubs. He won it with Saracens in 2019, lost the final with La Rochelle against Toulouse in 2021, and played a key role in their triumph against Leinster last May.

With an exodus of Exeter players looming, the New Zealand-born lock believes Rob Baxter’s men will be all the more motivated on Sunday. “The core of their group has been together a long time, they have won trophies together, it is quite a tight-knit group,” Skelton said. “If any team had that many changes, it would definitely be their last dance. Exeter are a great team and they will definitely bring it this weekend.”

  • MP minister Narottam Mishra plays anchor role in bringing back Katni mayor to BJP

MP minister Narottam Mishra plays anchor role in bringing back Katni mayor to BJP

    [ad_1]

Bhopal: At the function where Katni’s mayor (independent) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday, senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra was seen playing the anchor’s role, which was indicative of a new task assigned to him ahead of the Assembly elections.

Sources told IANS that during the State Working Committee meeting, which concluded last week at the party’s headquarters in Bhopal, Mishra was unofficially assigned the task to bring back the rebels into the BJP. Mishra was also given the role of strengthening the BJP cadres especially in regions where the party had lost in the 2018 Assembly elections.

Katni’s mayor (Independent) Preeti Suri along with three independent municipal councillors joined the BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state BJP president V. D. Sharma on Monday. When Suri and the three councillors entered the BJP’s conference hall, they were guided by Narottam Mishra and Katni’s BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak.

The strong political friendship between Mishra and Pathak has been a matter of discussion in the state unit of the BJP, especially since the duo had played a prominent role in delivering a setback to the Congress government in March 2020. The presence of both Mishra and Pathak during the Katni mayor’s joining was a clear indication that the duo played a role in bringing back Suri to the party.

“Mishra’s presence during the independent mayor’s joining is clear evidence that he has started working on the task assigned to him. It is the first step, more such developments will happen soon. Several parties’ rebels will be joining the BJP soon,” said a source in the party.

Suri, who won the mayoral seat as an independent candidate from Katni in July last year, is an ex-BJP leader. She was suspended from the party for six years due to anti-party activities a few years back. “Even though she (Preeti Suri) was out of the BJP for the last few years, but her heart was always with the party. We welcome her rejoining the party,” Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

With this, the BJP will now have 10 mayors out of the total 16 in Madhya Pradesh. In the mayoral elections held in July last year, the ruling BJP had won seven against the Congress’ five mayoral posts. One mayoral seat (Singrauli) was won by the debutant AAP.
