    Hyderabad: A head constable named D Venkat Reddy of Miyapur police station was caught red-handed by the sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a person on instructions of sub-inspector Yadagiri Rao.

    A person T Ashok Kumar had approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau and filed a complaint against the policemen for demanding the bribe amount to settle a case. Prior to it, the head constable had demanded and accepted Rs. 30,000 from Ashok Kumar and his friend Leela Prabhu.

    The ACB sleuths on Tuesday caught Venkat Reddy when he accepted the bribe amount. The fingers of the hand of Venkat Reddy tested positive in the chemical test. Venkat Reddy and Yadagiri Rao were arrested and will be produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases.

    Hyderabad: The officials of the Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday caught the Assistant Engineer working at the office of the Deputy Executive Engineer of the Telangana State Education Women and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSEWIDC) Vikarabad red-handed when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a person for doing official work.

    The Officer, Mohammed Irfan, demanded the bribe amount from M Prabhu for making entries in the record book with respect to works executed under the ‘Mana Vooru Mana Badi’ scheme.

    The tainted amount was recovered from the possession of the officer and his fingers of right hand tested positive results in a chemical test.

    Earlier, the officer allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 51,000 from the complainant.

    The accused officer is arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases Hyderabad.

    Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a sub-registrar of Peddapalli and her office subordinate when they demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 60,000 from a person for ‘registering the sale deed’.

    The sub-registrar Devagari Nirmala, 37, and Suddala Srinivas, 43, office subordinate at SRO Peddapally office had demanded a bribe from Pudari Srinivas, a resident of Konthamwada Peddapally for doing official work, the ACB officials stated.

    On a complaint, the ACB sleuths of the Karimnagar unit laid a trap and caught them red-handed.

    SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday suspended two cops after a video of them taking bribe from a driver in Ramban district went viral on social media.

    In a statement, a police spokesperson said that a video was doing rounds on various social media platforms wherein a traffic cop deployed at Ramban Bazar to Trishol Morh was seen  indulging in an unprofessional conduct by accepting money from a driver at Naka Trishol Morh.

    The statement reads that taking a serious view of the incident, selection grade constable Mohammed Latief and his in charge ASI Bini Kumar were placed under suspension with immediate effect.

    It reads further a departmental enquiry has been initiated against the duo. (KNO)

    Ramban, Apr 10: Jammu Kashmir Police Monday suspended two cops including an officer for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a driver in Ramband district of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Two cops were suspended after a video went viral on social media showing policemen taking bribe from a driver.

    Police said that a video was doing rounds on various social media platforms wherein a traffic Police cop deployed at Ramban Bazar to Trishol Morh is allegedly seen indulging in unprofessional conduct by accepting money from a Driver at Naka Trishol Morh.

    Police as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said that it is taken serious note of the incident and placed Selection Grade Constable
    Mohammed Latief and his Incharge ASI Bini Kumar under suspension with immediate effect.

    Police have also initiated a Departmental Enquiry against the accused cops. [KNT]

    Srinagar: Central Bureau of Investigation conducted a search operation at the premises top official after it arrested Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) for demanding and accepting huge sum of money as a bribe in Jammu and Kashmir.

    CBI said that it arrested a CHO while receiving a Rs 10 lakh bribe to resolve departmental issues, including a favourable posting and promotion of a junior colleague, officials said Saturday.

    The role of a senior officer in the Jammu and Kashmir government, is also under the scanner of the CBI, they said. The shocking demand of a bribe by a senior officer to be considered for posting and promotion prompted an official to approach the Central Bureau of Investigation with a complaint, they said.

    ”A case was registered on complaint against the accused and others on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for the complainant’s posting and to resolve his departmental issues including promotion,” a CBI spokesperson said. After doing necessary verification and groundwork, the CBI laid an ambush and arrested the CHO Sarabjit Singh and middleman Gohar Ahmed Dar red-handed during an alleged bribe exchange, officials said.

    ”Searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused and the premises of the Special Secretary(Horticulture). During the searches, cash of Rs 3.5 lakh and other documents including movable/immovable property were recovered,” the spokesperson said.

    Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday claimed to have trapped a Gardner of Floriculture department while demanding and accepting bribe in summer capital Srinagar.

    Quoting an official KDC reported that on receipt of the complaint, an FIR was registered, under section 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in Police Station ACB central Kashmir and investigation was taken up.

    Accordingly a trap team was constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught a Gardner of floriculture department at Badamwari while accepting a bribe of rupees 2,000 on the spot in presence of independent witnesses, he said.

    The Gardner was taken to a police station in Srinagar and further investigation into the matter is going on.

    SRINAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB)  on Monday trapped and arrested Gram Rozgar Sevak , Block  Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam, for demanding bribe of Rs 7,000.

    A complaint was received by Anti-corruption Bureau against Gram Rozgar Sevak Ajaz Ahmad Mir S/o Nazeer Ahmad Mir R/o Boh Noorabad, Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam, for demanding bribe of ₹7,000 for processing  and forwarding the demand of labour money with regards to project namely Bhuhi Naag at Reshipora.

    Since the contents of the complaint disclose demand of bribe by alleged accused public servant namely Ajaz Ahmad Mir and subsequently the Pre-trap verification was conducted which required prompt action.

    Accordingly, Case FIR No. 03/2023 was registered at P/S ACB Anantnag and investigation started.

    It added that after registration of the case, a trap team was constituted. The team caught Ajaz Ahmad Mir S/o Nazeer Ahmad Mir R/o Boh Noorabad, Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam red handed for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 7,000. He was immediately arrested on spot after completing necessary legal formalities.

    Further investigation is going on.

    Bribe for tender case: Karnataka BJP MLA sent to 10-day judicial custody

    Bengaluru: The Special Court for People’s Representatives in Bengaluru on Saturday sent Karnataka BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa to 10-day judicial custody in connection with the bribe for tender case.

    Justice Jayath Kumar issued the order after the Lokayukta sleuths produced the accused before the court.

    Virupakshappa, who is the prime accused in the case, was arrested on March 27 and produced before the court the next day. The entire episode has caused embarrassment to the party ahead of the May 10 Assembly elections.

    Virupakshappa’s son Prashath Madal, a government official, was caught red-handed while receiving Rs 40 lakh bribe for allotment of procurement order of raw materials for the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), a public sector unit.

    The accused MLA was the Chairman of KSDL and his son was allegedly receiving bribes on behalf of his father.

    The authorities had seized Rs 8.12 crore in cash, 1.6 kg gold from the residences of the accused BJP MLA and his son, who was arrested.
