    8-yr-old boy murdered in Hyderabad, family suspect human sacrifice

    Hyderabad: An eight-year-old boy was brutally murdered in Hyderabad in what his family has suspected to be a case of human sacrifice. But the police said they have no evidence of it.

    The body of Abdul Wahid was found in a drain in Moosapet early Friday.

    The boy went missing on Thursday from his house in Allauddin Koti area of Sanath Nagar and his family had lodged a complaint with the police.

    Police have arrested Imran, a transgender, and four others for the murder. The victim’s family ransacked his house and claimed to have found indications of a human sacrifice.

    However, the police said the boy was murdered over a financial dispute between Imran and the boy’s father Waseem Khan, who runs a business of readymade garments.

    After the boy went missing on Thursday evening, his father had lodged a complaint with the police. Based on CCTV footage in the area, police arrested Imran, who confessed to killing the boy and throwing the body in a drain.

    According to the victim’s family, Imran had asked the boy to fetch ORS. When the boy, who was fasting, went to Imran’s house to give the ORS packet, the latter caught hold of him.

    The accused strangled him to death by forcibly dipping his head in the bucket filled with water. After confirming the child had died, Imran, with the help of an auto-rickshaw driver, stuffed the body in the water bucket and a bag and threw it in the drain.

    The murder led to high tension in the area.

    Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinivas Rao said dispute over financial matters led to the murder. He, however, said if the victim’s family suspects it to be a case of human sacrifice, they will probe the case from that angle as well.

    Minister for animal husbandry T. Srinivas Yadav visited the areas.

    He clarified that it was not a case of human sacrifice but assured the victim’s family that culprits will not be spared.

    He said a fast track court will be constituted to ensure speedy trial and punishment.

    Pezzola’s turn on the stand is a climactic moment for the trial, and potentially the last before the four-month-long trial goes to the jury. Prosecutors have portrayed the Proud Boys as a sinister force on Jan. 6, plotting to do whatever they could to disrupt the transfer of power from Trump — who they viewed as an ally — to President Joe Biden. Trump’s call for a “wild” protest in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6 was the moment the group’s leaders decided to take measures to help Trump disrupt the incoming Biden presidency, prosecutors have alleged.

    The group also took a sharp turn against police in mid-December 2020, when four members of the Proud Boys were stabbed outside a bar following a pro-Trump event and the alleged perpetrator was not apprehended, prosecutors contended.

    The case relied heavily on thousands of Telegram messages sent among members of the group describing their intentions and coordinating rallies and protests related to the election results. They also showed ample video of the group’s movements in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6. The government’s key witness in the case, Proud Boy leader Jeremy Bertino, testified that he knew the group’s goal was to derail the transfer of power, even though there were no explicit plans relayed to the group’s broader membership.

    The defense has contended that the group’s role has been inflated, that they’re more akin to a drinking club whose members use a lot of hyperbole and overheated language that they didn’t intend to back up.

    Pezzola’s testimony — expected to last at least deep into Wednesday — continued in that vein. He said he viewed the Proud Boys as a forum for camaraderie and brotherhood, not a force for violence. He said that on Jan. 6, he never had any inkling of a plan or conspiracy to stop Congress from convening to count electoral votes.

    He acknowledged trespassing and crossing police lines at least twice. And he admitted that he shattered “one pane of glass” of the Senate window. But after that, he said, he “wandered around lost with no idea where I was going, took some pictures.”

    SRINAGAR: A 12-year-old boy was injurer after being allegedly stabbed by another late on Monday night following an altercation between the two in Teliyan area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

    An official said that Umar Rashid Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar of Arampora was allegedly stabbed by one Muneeb Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir after altercation between the two.

    Muzaffarnagar: A special court here on Saturday convicted a man of sodomising an eight-year-old Dalit boy about seven years ago and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 30,000, said a court official.

    District Government Advocate Rajeev Sharma told PTI-Bhasha on Saturday that the Special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act Court sentenced a man named Khalid for the crime he committed in July 2016 when the boy had been out for toilet.

    Khalid was booked at the complaint of the boy’s father, Sharma said.

    A minor Muslim boy was allegedly kidnapped and forced to raise ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ slogans in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

    According to reports, three minors abducted the 11-year-old boy and took him to a pond, luring him with toys. They then forced him to chant ‘Jai Siya Ram’, ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ and ‘Hindustan Zindabad’.

    In a video, recorded by the accused that surfaced and has been shared widely shared on social media, the naked Muslim boy can be seen repeating “Jai Shri Mahakal” and “Jai Shri Ram” after the perpetrators as they thrash him with a belt.

    As they force him to say Hindustan Zindabad, he states, “We live in Hindustan we will say Hindustan Zindabad only!”

    A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against them in response to a complaint filed by the boy’s parents. They have been accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 323 (causing harm), 294 (obscene act in a public place), and 365 (kidnapping for unlawful imprisonment).

    The police released the three youngsters based on the surety of the parents and will also be counselled.

    According to the Indore police, the youngster and those accused of the crime used to live in the same neighbourhood, and their parents are workers.

    The police have requested for the video not be circulated since the boys are minors.
