Nightlife, businesses in Hyderabad to get boost following govt’s 24/7 open permit

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The nightlife and businesses in Hyderabad to get a bigger boost following the Telangana government’s decision to allow shops and establishments in the state to operate 24/7. The move is being seen as a win-win for consumers, businesses, and the government.

The decision to allow 24/7 operations will not only benefit consumers who will now have the freedom to shop and dine at any time of the day or night but also businesses that will now have the opportunity to generate more revenue. Moreover, this move will bolster tourism in the state and create more job opportunities for job seekers. It will also lead to more collection of tax for the government.

    Relaxation in other Indian states

While Telangana is not the first state to allow shops and establishments to operate 24/7, the relaxation of the rules is still being welcomed by the people of Hyderabad as it is likely to promote nightlife and businesses in the city.

    MS Education Academy

Maharashtra announced similar relaxation in 2017, and Karnataka gave this relaxation for three years from January 2021. The relaxation also exists in Tamil Nadu, where it was first announced in 2019 and later extended to three more years in June 2022.

As per the Telangana Labour Department Order, “The Telangana government, hereby, issues guidelines for granting exemption from Section 7 (opening and closing hours) of the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act 1988 to all shops and establishments as defined in Section 2 (21) of the Telangana Shops & Establishments Act 1988 for operating 24×7 in the State.” The shops and establishments can avail this option by paying an annual fee of Rs 10,000.

Decision to give boost to nightlife, businesses in Hyderabad

With the decision, shops, and establishments, including malls and restaurants, can remain open round the clock seven days of a week. This move has been widely appreciated on social media, with many netizens taking to Twitter to express their views. While most of them expressed their view in favour of the decision, some expressed their apprehensions.

The decision is expected to give a major boost to Hyderabad’s nightlife and businesses. With the city now being able to operate round the clock, it is expected to attract more tourists and generate more revenue.

It is a move that is being welcomed by businesses and consumers alike and is expected to have a positive impact on the economy of the state.

Apple India retail store to boost overall ecosystem experience for users: Experts

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Apples own brick-and-mortar store in India will further strengthen the overall experience of being in an Apple ecosystem for its fans in the country, experts said on Wednesday.

With its own branded retail store — the first one being opened in Mumbai this month — Apple will be able to control end-to-end user experience which will further take its brand image to another level.

“We have seen many stories around the world about consumers sharing positive purchase experiences from the Apple branded stores and India will be no different,” Counterpoint Research Director Tarun Pathak told IANS.

    MS Education Academy

Apple has finally lifted the curtains off its much-awaited own branded retail store at Jio World Drive Mall in Mumbai, officially marking the upcoming opening of Apple BKC.

Inspired by the iconic ‘Kaali Peeli’ taxi art unique to Mumbai, the Apple BKC creative includes colourful interpretations of the decals combined with many Apple products and services that will be available for our customers to discover.

According to Counterpoint data, Mumbai contributed 10 per cent of iPhone sales and the second largest for Apple, after Delhi, in 2022.

Over the past couple of years, Apple’s India strategy has been coming along well, including increased domestic manufacturing, aggressive marketing and affordability initiatives, and the success of the Apple India Online store.

“Offline retail continues to be critical for all consumer tech companies in a large, diverse market like India. Indian Consumers love to touch, feel and explore the products, before making their purchase considerations,” Prabhu Ram, Head, Industry Intelligence Group, CMR, told IANS.

Interestingly, the premium smartphone segment in India has been growing in double digits.

“The Apple-owned flagship retail stores come with favorable tailwinds, and are a critical lynchpin in Apple’s bid to win the India market. Apple’s retail stores globally set a standard in terms of consumer experience, staff knowledge and expertise, and the service standards, beyond products,” Ram noted.

Apple will launch a retail store in New Delhi at a later date.

Apple sold 2 million iPhones in India in the holiday quarter (Q4) of 2022, registering 18 per cent growth (quarter-on-quarter) for its flagship device.

The India market share of iPhones reached 5.5 per cent for 2022, an 11 per cent growth (year-on-year).

  • DU planning to give professors 5-year extension post retirement to boost research culture

DU planning to give professors 5-year extension post retirement to boost research culture

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Delhi University is paving the way to give professors and senior professors an extension of five years following retirement to promote research culture and re-employ research oriented academicians, a senior varsity official said on Tuesday.

At present, the retirement age of the faculty is 65 years and no extension was given to teachers.

The university has prepared a set of guidelines for the re-employment of “research-oriented academicians”.

    MS Education Academy

The official, however, stated that the guidelines will only apply to professors teaching at the varsity departments, centres, schools, and institutions, and are not applicable to colleges of the university.

The re-employed professors will hold the positions on a contract basis, he said.

The 14-point guidelines, prepared by a committee, will be presented during the upcoming meeting of the Executive Council (the highest decision-making body of the university) on April 10 for approval.

“The retirement age of academicians at the university is 65 years. However, the university wishes to bring provisions to give an extension of five years for professors. We are hopeful that the guidelines will be approved in the next meeting. This step will help in promoting a research culture and for the re-employment of research-oriented academicians,” the official said.

According to the guidelines, the application for the same should be submitted before the date of superannuation of the teacher. The application will be then placed before the screening committee for further processes.

The screening committee will have a chairperson nominated by the vice chancellor. Besides the chairperson, the panel will also have chairperson of the research council; Dean of Research; Dean of the faculty concerned; Dean of Academic Affairs; Head of the Department concerned, and Joint Registrar, as members.

The re-employed professor will not hold any administrative position and the financial power will be limited to him, the guidelines stated.

“The re-employment of a professor/senior professor shall be subject to the University’s clearance with respect to her/his conduct as a teacher, her/his disciplinary record as well as financial prudence,” the guidelines read.

“No teacher shall continue to remain in such re-employment after attaining the age of 70 years. The re-employed professor/senior professor shall be given an office in the department and if required shall share the laboratory with another faculty,” they added.

The re-employment will also be subject to the university’s clearance concerning his conduct as a teacher, his disciplinary record as well as financial prudence, mentioned the guidelines.

Meanwhile, a section of teachers has opposed these guidelines, saying it would give rise to favouritism culture.

“Moreover, they (the university) are trying to build a hierarchy system within the university guideline that would not be applicable for college teachers,” Rajesh Jha, a former Delhi University Executive Council member, said.

Govt to boost electronics manufacturing to Rs 24 lakh cr, create 10 lakh jobs

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: The Narendra Modi government’s target is to increase electronics manufacturing capability to Rs 24 lakh crore by 2025-26, which will also help create over 10 lakh jobs, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said on Friday.

Addressing a gathering of students here as part of the ‘New India for Young India Initiative’, the minister said that young Indians are driving the country’s progress in India’s ‘Techade’.

“There are more than 90,000 startups, including 110 unicorns, in which Young Indians are playing a big part. They have achieved their success due to their hard work and efforts and not because of any connections or famous last name, ” he told a packed audience.

Chandrasekhar had an interactive session with students in which, he answered their queries ranging from skilling, R&D and innovation ecosystem, entrepreneurship opportunities and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ recent meeting with him.

On a query about the Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) crisis and Indian government’s role to mitigate the woes of the startups, the minister said, the country’s banking system is much more resilient and stronger in comparison to any other country’s banking system.

“The startups should, therefore, opt for Indian banks as their preferred banking partners,” he added.

The minister had earlier said that over a billion dollar worth of capital “attributable to Indian startups” was stuck in deposits at SVB when it collapsed.

Chandrasekhar also informed that over $250 million have been transferred from SVB to GIFT City banks in the last few days.

  • China makes surprise rate cut to boost liquidity in banking system

China makes surprise rate cut to boost liquidity in banking system

    [ad_1]

Hong Kong: China’s central bank has made a surprise cut to the amount of money that banks must keep in reserve, in an effort to keep money flowing through the financial system and prop up the economy, media reports said.

The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) said it would cut the reserve requirement ratio (RRR) for almost all banks by 0.25 percentage points, effective March 27, CNN reported.

“(We must) make a good combination of macro policies, better serve the real economy, and maintain reasonable and sufficient liquidity in the banking system,” the PBOC said in a statement.

The late Friday move came as a surprise and follows a week of turmoil in global financial markets triggered by the failure of some regional US banks.

As recently as Wednesday, analysts from Goldman Sachs said they were expecting the PBOC to keep interest rates and the RRR “unchanged” through the first half of 2023, CNN reported.

The central bank had already injected hundreds of billions of yuan into the banking system since January, mainly through a medium-term lending facility, the analysts said.

The rapid collapse of the two US banks and troubles at Credit Suisse have stoked fears about the health of the global banking sector.

Regulators on both sides of the Atlantic have taken emergency measures since Sunday to provide liquidity support to troubled lenders and shore up the confidence in the banking system. On Thursday, a group of America’s largest banks stepped in to rescue First Republic Bank with a $30 billion lifeline, CNN reported.

Earlier this month, Yi Gang, Governor of the PBOC, hinted at a news conference that monetary policy this year will be largely stable.

“The current level of real interest rates is relatively appropriate,” he said.

Germany, Japan pledge to boost cooperation on economic security

    [ad_1]

    japan germany 77803

Germany and Japan agreed on Saturday to strengthen cooperation on economic security in the aftermath of tensions over global supply chains and the economic impact of the war in Ukraine.

In the first high-ministerial government consultations held between the two countries, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reached out to Tokyo to seek to reduce Germany’s dependence on China for imports of raw materials.

“The current challenges of our time make it clear: It is important to expand cooperation with close partners and acquire new partners. We want to reduce dependencies and increase the resilience of our economies.” the German chancellor said in a tweet.

Scholz and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said they believe the agreement will allow both countries to diversify value chains in order to be able to reduce economic risks.

In a joint statement, the two countries said they will work on establishing “a legal framework for bilateral defense and security cooperation activities,” including ways to protect critical infrastructures, trade routes and to secure future supply of sustainable energy.

Germany’s decision to prioritize consultations with Japan came after the Asian country put forward an economic security bill last year aimed at securing the uptake of technology and bolstering critical supply chains.

Japan is Germany’s second-largest trading partner in Asia after China, with a bilateral trade volume of €45.7 billion mainly based on the import and export of machinery, vehicles, electronics and chemical products.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and the G7 meeting in Hiroshima scheduled for May.
