Sopore, Mar 15 (GNS): Amid growing resentment and widespread protests by the JKSSB aspirants over latter’s purported hiring of ‘blacklisted’ APTECH company for conducting written examinations for recruitment to various posts, Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) patron Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday questioned as to why the authorities are allowing blacklisted agencies to conduct exams in Jammu and Kashmir?

Speaking to media on the sidelines of a function in Sopore village, Azad, as per GNS, alleged that all the recruitment agencies in Jammu and Kashmir choose to conduct exams through the companies which otherwise have already been rejected and blacklisted by many states. “The trend to hire such companies has resulted in the postponement of exams many times in the last 5 years, something that hasn’t happened in the last 75 years.”

“At a time when thousands of youth are facing trouble in getting jobs, it is beyond one’s understanding as to why the authorities are hiring these blacklisted companies and end up putting the careers of youth on stake” Azad said adding ironically why such blacklisted agencies are being allowed in J&K only.

“The government should properly investigate such agencies for the sake of the careers of youth”, he said.

Pertinently, several political leaders, cutting across the party lines have backed the protests by job aspirants and have sought disallowance of the APTECH Company to hold any exams in Jammu and Kashmir. (GNS)

  • Aptech No Longer Blacklisted: JKSSB Chairman

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: As the protests over hiring of a previously blacklisted company for conducting recruitment examinations gained momentum, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) chairman Rajesh Sharma on Friday assured the aspirants that there will be no compromise on transparency and merit.

Calling the protests a malicious campaign to disrupt boards functioning, JKSSB chairman urged the aspirants to continue preparing for their exams and not to pay heed to the rumour mongers.

“Board is very well aware of your concerns and we ensure you that there will be no compromise on transparency and merit. Focus on your studies and ignore these useless protests,” Sharma said while addressing a press conference at Jammu.

He further said that the Aptech company is not blacklisted as of date, though it was blacklisted in 2019 for three years and that term expired in 2022, adding, “In accordance to the rules provided in General Financial Rules 2017 of GoI to deal with blacklisting the Aptech company has served its term,” Rajesh Sharma said.

Adding further, Rajesh Sharma said that the agency is already conducting various important exams in other states of the country.

“This agency is not permanently blacklisted for conducting exam. There is a difference between blacklisting and banning. These protests seem to be motivated to derail the functioning of the Board and deviate the hardworking candidates,” SSB chairman said.

Assuring the aspirants that justice will be ensured and youth’s ability and merit will be respected, Sharma said, “Strict action will be taken against all those elements who are trying to harm the future of deserving aspirants,”

He further added, “The matter of Aptech is still sub-judice and court will have a final say in this. The issue will be settled by law and not by sloganeering.”

Maintaining that the board has taken major steps to ensure transparency and fairness in exams Sharma said, “ Installation of jammers and cameras in all exam centres, observers from General Administration Department and district administration to look after the exam centres , magistrates, presence of police, third party audit all has been taken care of.”

SRINAGAR: Scores of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) job aspirants gathered in press enclave on Wednesday to protest against the purported grant of contract to APTECH Ltd. for conduct of various exams in the UT.

The protesting aspirants asked LG administration to look into the matter of frequent paper leaks and scam occurring in Kashmir.

“All blacklisted companies should be banned in Jammu and Kashmir, until action not is taken against these blacklisted companies, no student will sit for any competitive exams,” the protestors opined.

The protesters pointed out that APTECH Ltd. has been involved in numerous scams in other parts of the country including in Rajasthan, Leh, Ambala, and others. “Many national papers have also highlighted these scams, nothing significant is being done to allay the apprehensions of the job aspirants” they said.

The protesters demanded that the Lieutenant Governor administration should rise to the occasion and take necessary measures for the larger benefit of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

JKNC Condemns Govt’s Appointment Of Blacklisted APTECH For JKSSB Exams

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar on Monday slammed the government on selection and the award of contracts to ‘tainted’ and blacklisted APTECH Company for conducting the upcoming Jammu Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) exams.

Echoing the public rage over the decision, Imran, as per the news agency GNS, said “The Company has been penalized by the Supreme Court and is on the blocklists of various states including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. In J&K also the company was accused of blatant irregularities and violations of the law in altering the tender’s terms and conditions. Why is such a company being selected which has consistently failed to provide transparency and accountability in conducting such an exercise? This question begs to be answered. The board instead of addressing the genuine concerns and fear of the educated, skilled local youth seems hell-bent on destroying their future. Such an undue decision doesn’t inspire the confidence of aspirants in such public examinations.”

In the first place, the company shouldn’t have been allowed to compete in the tendering process. “Commercial interest should never outweigh the public interest. As is happening in this case. There is every likelihood of biases, favoritism, and unfairness in the said process. I hope the incumbent LG administration will refrain from letting the company conduct public examinations which require a high degree of secrecy/fairness as the future of aspirants would depend upon such examinations.”

There is a major scam at work, he said, “Despite J&K high court’s questioning the awarding of the contract to APTECH, the assigning of the contract to the same company doesn’t stand any reason. I also request the honorable high court to take Suo moto cognizance of the issues in the public interest.” (GNS)

Trump-allied group wants J6 committee staffers blacklisted

    [ad_1]

“It is important to remember that even if one of these former J6 investigators is not listed as a lobbyist on this specific account, the billings brought in by the clients listed below benefit all staff at the J6 investigator’s new firm,” he added.

It remains to be seen how effective the gambit will be, as the letter was sent only this past Wednesday. K Street firms have a major presence on Capitol Hill and their hires include figures on all sides of the political spectrum. But the group’s play illustrates the intense desire that exists among some conservatives to exact political retribution for those staffers who helped unearth extraordinary evidence of Donald Trump’s bid to subvert the 2020 election.

Jones confirmed the authenticity of the memo in an email to POLITICO. He railed against the January 6 committee’s use of investigative power, claiming that the committee and the F.B.I. forced some to “spend tens — sometimes hundreds — of thousands of dollars defending themselves from an overreaching and weaponized government.” He argued that conservatives should not be taking meetings with these lobbyists’ clients.

“My email was just a short list of people and companies they should stop working with,” he said.

“Until conservatives are willing to fight back against the swamp — in this case cutting off the lifeblood of lobbyist access — the swamp will never be drained,” he contended.

Among those listed on the memo include Casey Lucier, former investigative counsel for the committee, who was hired at McGuireWoods, a firm that represents Hertz Global, Perdue Foods, Sinclair Broadcast Group, and others. Other names listed were Kevin Elliker, another former investigative counsel, who was hired by Hunton Andrews Kurth. That firm represents Koch Companies Public Sector, NCTA – The Internet & Television Association, and Southern Company Services. Former committee staffers Marcus Childress, Heather Connelly, and Michelle Kallen had all been hired by Jenner & Block, the email noted, which represents T-Mobile and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

In his message, Jones also noted that the memo’s recipients were free to send over additional names.

Led by Jones, an alumnus of Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Tex.) presidential campaign, and Matt Buckham, a veteran of the Trump White House, the American Accountability Foundation has taken on controversial tactics to undermine Biden’s nominees. The New Yorker reported links between the American Accountability Foundation and the Conservative Partnership Institute, which has been affiliated with former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and attorney Cleta Mitchell. Notably, Meadows’ attorney George Terwilliger works for McGuireWoods, one of firms listed in the memo.
