New Delhi: Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Monday granted transit custody of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in connection with a cross-border smuggling case.

The agency wants to question Bishnoi about any possible ties to Pakistan because it believes there is a chance that his associates are involved in cross-border smuggling of drugs and weapons.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had already zeroed in on Bishnoi for his possible links to anti-Indian elements in Pakistan.

Bishnoi was also involved in cross-border drugs trafficking and a Nigerian woman was working for him, claimed the Gujarat ATS, which now wants to interrogate the gangster in connection with the Al-Tayyasa boat matter in which 38.994 kg heroin worth Rs 194.97 crore was recovered from the Mitha Port in Gujarat.

“Six Pakistani nationals who were on board the boat were held. Later, it was learnt that the consignment was sent for Bishnoi by Pakistan-based handlers under the supervision of a Nigerian woman. Calls were made from Punjab jail. While two of the accused have been interrogated, we want to quiz Bishnoi for which his production warrant is being sought,” a source said earlier.

“I got a threat message and I have informed the police. I won’t be scared. Similar attempts were made to carry an attack on me but what did the police do, what did the state’s home minister do?” he said.

Later, a man in Pune was detained by the police in this regard.

Mumbai Police said that the detainee used Lawrence Bishnoi’s name and his connection with the gangster will be probed.

“The accused person who was detained in Pune related to a threat message to Sanjay Raut used the name of Lawrence Bishnoi. He will also be interrogated related to the threat message to actor Salman Khan. The accused’s connection with the Bishnoi gang will also be probed,” Mumbai Police said.

Earlier, a threat was also received by Bollywood actor Salman Khan stating that he will “end up like Sidhu Moosewala”. The accused, Dhakad Ram who is a resident of Luni in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, was arrested and handed over to Mumbai Police.

“In the case registered in Bandra police station of threats to kill Salman Khan via email, the Mumbai police team and Luni police team in joint action caught Dhakad Ram, a resident of Luni in Jodhpur district,” Luni Police Station Officer, Jodhpur Ishwar Chand Pareek had told ANI earlier.

Last week, Mumbai Police booked jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar and Rohit Garg for allegedly sending threatening emails to actor Salman Khan’s office. Bandra Police registered a case under sections 506(2),120(b) and 34 of IPC.

Salman Khan was provided with Y+ category security by the Mumbai Police. The Maharashtra government took this step after the actor received a threat letter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang earlier.

Chandigarh: Two minor girls influenced by Lawrence Bishnoi on social media ran away from their homes in Delhi, reached Bathinda and clicked selfies outside the jail where the gangster is lodged, officials said on Friday.

The girls came by train and reached the central jail in Bathinda on Wednesday, a police official said.

The jail authorities informed the police when they found the duo clicking selfies.

Investigations revealed that the girls were influenced by Bishnoi on social media, the official said.

“Their parents were called. The girls were counselled and handed over to their parents,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (Bathinda) Gurpreet Singh said.

The girls lied to their parents, who hail from Jharkhand, and travelled to Bathinda, the police said.

Bishnoi is one of the accused in the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Mansa district last May.

Goldy Brar, a member of Bishnoi’s gang, had claimed responsibility for the murder.

  • NIA raids over 70 locations linked to Bishnoi, Bawana, other gangsters

NIA raids over 70 locations linked to Bishnoi, Bawana, other gangsters

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted raids across the country at more than 70 locations belonging to gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Neeraj Bawana and their aides.

The raids were conducted in Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.

An official said that in a major crackdown on gangsters, working in tandem with terrorist groups and drug smugglers based in foreign countries including Pakistan and Canada, the NIA conducted raids at 76 locations across eight states and seized a large cache of arms and ammunition and cash of Rs 2.5 crore.

The NIA officials said that the raids were conducted on the basis of the three separate FIRs lodged by them.

“Three cases have been registered by the NIA since August 2022 and several people, including some Kabbadi players were identified and booked for their alleged involvement in terror and other criminal activities, including targeted hits and extortion from leading businessmen and professionals,” an official said.

The investigation has revealed that conspiracies for several such crimes, including the sensational killing of Maharashtra builder, Sanjay Biyani, and Sandeep Nangal Ambia, an international Kabbadi player, were being hatched in jails of different states and were being executed by an organised network of operatives based abroad, the official added.

The official said the NIA conducted raids in connection with the matter for the fifth time.

The official said that raids were focused on arms suppliers and Hawala operators working with these gangs.

“We have recovered 9 illegal weapons, including pistols, revolvers and rifles, and Rs 1.5 crore in cash. Incriminating materials, including documents, hard drives and mobile phones, were also seized,” the official said.

The official said that searches were conducted at the premises of Lakhvir Singh of Gidderbaha at Muktsar, Naresh at Abohar, Surender a.k.a. Cheeku at Narnaul in Haryana, Kaushal Choudhary and Amit Dagar at Gurugram and Sunil Rathi at Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.

The official said that apart from them, some Hawala operators, kabaddi players, weapon suppliers, gun houses, businessmen and their alleged financers, were also raided.

“The investigation has established that many criminals, who were leading gangsters in India, had later fled to Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia and Australia. But they were in touch with criminals lodged in different jails in India. These groups were carrying out targeted killings and raising funds for their nefarious activities through smuggling of drugs and weapons, hawala and extortion,” the NIA said.
