Bihar’s Covid vaccination to continue without Centre’s aid: Nitish

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that his government will purchase vaccines to continue the Covid vaccination drive in the state, even if it does not get the Centre’s support.

The state government is fully alert to meet the challenges of Covid-19, Kumar said while chairing a meeting of senior officials to review the coronavirus situation.

“Bihar is conducting the highest number of Covid tests in the country. The country’s average is above six lakh tests per 10 lakh population. For Bihar, it is eight lakh samples per 10 lakh population.

    MS Education Academy

“As the stock of Covid vaccines has finished in the state and the central government has so far not provided fresh stock, we will continue the vaccination drive in the state by purchasing vaccines from our own coffer,” he said.

The Covid-19 active cases have more than doubled in a week in Bihar.

With 36 more people testing positive for the virus since Sunday, the number of active cases increased to 146, according to the Union Health Ministry’s latest figure.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Kumar instructed the health department to remain alert and make all arrangements at hospitals for the treatment of patients.

“Covid cases are increasing again, mainly in Patna and four to five other districts. However, the situation is under control. In places like hospitals, wearing of masks is being reinforced,” the chief minister said.

Amid a spike in coronavirus cases, mock drills to take stock of hospital preparedness were held in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science in Patna during the day.

  • Nitish praises BJP MLC Shahnawaz Hussain in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur

Nitish praises BJP MLC Shahnawaz Hussain in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has praised senior BJP leader and MLC Shahnawaz Hussain during the inauguration of an ethanol plant in Muzaffarpur.

While addressing a gathering during the inauguration on Thursday, Kumar said that he is happy that Hussain came for this event.

Such a statement by the Bihar Chief Minister has come at a time when political barbs were underway between the JD-U and BJP in Bihar.

    MS Education Academy

“It is great courage shown by him to attend the event of the state government. It is a big thing. At present, none of the BJP leaders would dare to do this and attend a programme of the Bihar government. I am very pleased to see him here. He is my old friend and also shared the cabinet in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government,” Kumar said.

“We are making efforts to establish industries in Bihar. We have also demanded a grant from the Centre for the production of ethanol. I want to ask him to convey our demand to the Centre. If the Centre would give us any grant, it would be a great help for Bihar and if it would not do the same, our government is doing it as per our capacity,” the Chief Minister added.

“If the Centre would help us in the ethanol sector, I will give full credit to him (Shahnawaz Hussain). I don’t understand why his party is not promoting him and not giving him space in the Central cabinet,” Kumar said.

The Chief Minister along with his cabinet Ministers visited Muzaffarpur’s Motipur Industrial Area and inaugurated the ethanol plant on Thursday.

When Hussain was the Industry Minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet during the NDA government, he made great efforts to bring industries in Bihar, Kumar added.

Due to hard work of Hussain, ethanol plant, Pepsi bottling plant and many other industries came to Bihar.

  • Bihar’s people will straighten those who want to hang people upside down: Tejashwi

Bihar’s people will straighten those who want to hang people upside down: Tejashwi

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his statement of hanging people, behind the recent violence “upside down”.

“The people of Bihar will make straight those who are claiming to hang people upside down.

“Some people come from Gujarat and make statements here. This is the land of Mahatma Buddha. Gandhi became Mahatma Gandhi in Bihar, it is a land of Karpoori Thakur, Lalu Prasad, and Nitish Kumar and it will not tolerate any rioter. The leaders of BJP conspired during the holy month (Ramzan) but now we would not let anyone go scot free. The state government is looking after the matter very seriously,” Yadav said.

    MS Education Academy

“On the day of Ram Navami, the march was held at 118 places. It was peacefully completed at all the places except in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif. The people of BJP tried to flare up the riots at these two places. Earlier, they had tried to create a fight between Bihar and Tamil Nadu but failed. Now, they were involved in riots. I want to tell them that those who were involved in riots will not go scot free,” he added.

“We may be in power or not, peace and social harmony will remain in Bihar. They had freaked out after the massive rally of Purnea. The people of Bihar are smart and they understand it very well,” the RJD leader said.

“I want to appeal to the people of Bihar to not to come under the influence of BJP and rioters. They are misleading the people from the real issues. Amit Shah should tell us whether the Centre would give special status to Bihar or not,” he added.
