Modi in Hyderabad: Vande Bharat, AIIMS & public meet key events on PM’s visit

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The BJP’s preparations for Telangana Assembly elections scheduled later this year are likely to get a boost with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad on April 8 during which he is expected to address a public meeting and launch various development projects.

The BJP leaders expect that PM Modi’s visit will boost their morale in the runup to the Assembly elections. The party expects that he will set the tone for the party’s poll campaign.

The Prime Minister is expected to launch an attack on Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for its various acts of omissions and commissions.

PM Modi is likely to target BRS and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao over corruption, especially in the wake of questioning of his daughter K. Kavitha by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.

He is also likely to hit out at the BRS government over the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) paper leak, which has heated up state politics.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also taken up state-wide protests over the paper leak, alleging involvement of KCR’s son and state minister K.T. Rama Rao.

The Telangana unit of the BJP has huge expectations from PM Modi’s visit in view of his recent statement about the state.

“In the south, we have always been strong in Karnataka and in Telangana, people now have confidence only in one party, BJP, and in Andhra Pradesh also people are looking towards us,” Modi had said on March 28 while inaugurating the residential complex of the party in Delhi.

Modi will be launching various railway projects at Secunderabad Railway Station and later a public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy along with state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and party MP K. Laxman on Tuesday visited Secunderabad Railway Station and Parade Grounds to take stock of the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Kishan Reddy, who is also an MP from Secunderabad, said the PM would lay the foundation stone for the re-development of Secunderabad Railway Station. The station is being revamped at a cost of Rs 719 crore and will provide world-class railway infrastructure and amenities.

He will also lay the foundation stone of the new block of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at a cost of Rs 1,336 crore.

Kishan Reddy said this would give a big boost to health infrastructure in Telangana. The expansion and new facilities include academic blocks, auditorium, staff quarters, hostels and guest houses. The hospital block renovation is also underway.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari on Tuesday reviewed arrangements for PM Modi’s visit. She instructed the officials to make foolproof arrangements.

Presiding over a coordination meeting, she said that all the departments have to work in close coordination and make the brief visit of the Prime Minister a success.

The police have to make adequate security arrangements, law and order, traffic and bandobast arrangements as per the blue book.

The fire department was asked to arrange adequate fire fighting equipment and fire tenders should be positioned at the venue. Medical staff, ambulances and other facilities should be kept ready at all the venues.

The Chief Secretary asked officials to repair roads to be used by the Prime Minister’s convoy. Uninterrupted power supply at all the venues should be ensured, she said.

DGP Anjani Kumar, senior police officers and officials from various departments including railways attended the meeting.

  • Muslims compared to snakes, call for Akhand Bharat at Digital Hindu Conclave

Muslims compared to snakes, call for Akhand Bharat at Digital Hindu Conclave

    [ad_1]

Leaders from the ruling BJP delivered Islamophobic speech in full swing at the recently concluded Digital Hindu Conclave held on March 18.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra, Kajal Shingala aka Kajal Hindusthani and far-right author Kshitij Patukale compared minorities, particularly those belonging to Muslim community, to snakes, distorted history by calling for violence as the only way to attain Akhand Bharat besides raising the topic of Love Jihad.

Kajal Shingala said that there can never be brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims and called out those who support secularism and peace between the two communities as a “sinking ship”.

“I want to let these people who have one leg on the Hindu boat and the other on a Muslim boat, you are going to drown,” she said.

She stressed that the making of Hindu Rashtra is inevitable and no one can stop them. “They (Muslims) kept shouting against Ram Mandir. But we succeeded and now it will be completed by next year. Similarly, I am confident that we will achieve success by creating a Hindu Rashtra and that day is not far away,” she said.

Without mentioning names, Kajal referred to Shah Rukh Khan’s recent visit to Vaishno Devi temple before the release of his movie Pathaan as well as Aamir Khan’s photograph doing Kalash pooja.

“We will make sure each one of them undergoes ghar vaapsi,” she said.

Ghar Vaapsi is a Hindutva programme meant to convert those belonging to other religions to Hinduism. it is conducted by right-wing organsations Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bajrang Dal, and their allies.

She also alleged that the Waqf board is forcibly snatching land from the Hindus. “You people came some 1,400 years before. We have been here forever. How can you claim this is your land?” she said.

She also spoke highly about the bulldozer culture introduced by the Yogi Adityanath government. “Such large-scale demolitions of Muslim homes have never been recorded in Indian history,” she said proudly.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra spoke about Love Jihad. Taking the recent murder of Shraddha Walker, whose live-in partner Aftab Poonawala stored her chopped body in a refrigerator, he said, “There will come a day when we will see ads like keep fruits in the fridge, not ‘Shraddha’.”

Far-right author Kshitij Patukale said, “It is our duty to protect our dharma and if that comes at the cost of the country, we should not hesitate. This is not a 200-year-old slavery (referring to colonial invasion), but around 1,200 years of slavery.”

Tata Steel to manufacture 22 Vande Bharat trains in next one year

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Indian Railways has signed an agreement with Tata Steel under which the company will manufacture 22 trains of the country’s fastest and feature-rich Vande Bharat Express in the coming year.

The Ministry of Railways has set a production target of 200 Vande Bharat trains for the next two years, besides setting a target to run the first sleeper version of Vande Bharat by the first quarter of 2024.

Keeping this in view, an agreement has been signed between Indian Railways and Tata Steel on several schemes to speed up the production work.

The seats in the Vande Bharat Express, from first AC to three-tier coaches, will now be manufactured by Tata Steel. The contract for making Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches of the train has also been given to the company, under which structures of panels, windows and railways are being prepared.

  • Twitterati slams Bharat Matrimony over new Holi video ad

Twitterati slams Bharat Matrimony over new Holi video ad

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Bharat Matrimony’s latest video commercial on the occasion of Holi has sparked debate, with several people accusing the matrimonial website for hurting their religious sentiments.

The video released on March 8, also marked as International Women’s Day, shows how harassment faced by women during Holi leads to trauma and stops them from celebrating the festival of colours.

Bharat Matrimony tweeted the 75-second clip video with the caption: “This Women’s Day and Holi, let’s celebrate by creating safer and more inclusive spaces for women. It’s important to acknowledge the challenges that women face in public spaces and create a society that truly respects their well-being – today and forever.”

The video shows a woman with her face covered in different colours, who washes her face to get rid of the Holi colours.

Underneath her colourful face are shown bruises. And the captions reads: “Some colours don’t wash away easy.”

“A third of women who’ve faced this trauma, have stopped playing Holi.”

Twitter users called out against the matrimonial website for hurting religious sentiments, and linking a festival with an important issue.

“You guys are absolutely disgusting. How dare you link a social message with the Hindu festival of Holi,” wrote a user.

“It’s disappointing to see that you’re equating our festivals with harassment. Let’s celebrate diversity and respect each other’s culture and faith. Let’s spread love, not hate,” wrote another.

“#BoycottBharatMatrimony Shame on @bharatmatrimony for using a Hindu festival like #Holi to run their social awareness agenda,” another user tweeted.

Even as the video soon became viral and triggered a massive outcry, some also came in support of the ad.

“This is indeed very brave of @bharatmatrimony. Festivals cannot and should not be a traumatic experience. Respect and Consent is vital and what better than the #WomensDay to send this message out to all those men who abuse, harm and disrespect women,” tweeted one user.

“Some people are very angry on this video. But thanks to @bharatmatrimony for raising this sensitive topic. Illiterate people can neither understand nor want to understand,” tweeted another.

A day earlier online food delivery app Swiggy was also called out by netizens over a billboard ad for Instamart.

The billboard features eggs and reads, “Omelette; Sunny side-up; Kisi ke sarr par. #BuraMatKhelo. Get Holi essentials on Instamart.”

  • During Bharat Jodo Yatra, militants saw me and I saw them; Rahul Gandhi at Cambridge

During Bharat Jodo Yatra, militants saw me and I saw them; Rahul Gandhi at Cambridge

    [ad_1]

New Delhi, Mar,03: Rahul Gandhi said during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kashmir a person came to him and showed ‘militants’ who were keeping a watch on Rahul Gandhi. “I felt I was in trouble but nothing happened as I went there only to listen with no violence in me,” Rahul Gandhi said.

As Rahul Gandhi recounted his Bharat Jodo Yatra in his speech at Cambridge University, he narrated snippets of his experience that changed him as a politician. In an interesting account, Rahul Gandhi said as they continued walking despite threats, a person wanted to come near him. Though security personnel were not in favour of Gandhi allowing that person to walk along with him, Rahul Gandhi called the person. “The man asked me, ‘Mr Gandhi, have you really come here to listen to us?’. I said ‘yes’. He said, ‘Do you see those boys over there?’ I said, ‘Yes’. He said, ‘They are militants,” Rahul Gandhi narrated.

Rahul Gandhi delivered a lecture at Cambridge University on Learning to Listen in the 21st century.

“Militants should normally kill me. In that environment, they should kill me. The man said they are there and they are looking at you. I looked at them. and thought that I was in trouble. They were giving me this look, I am serious and I gave the look back and nothing happened, we just carried on. Why I am telling you this because they actually couldn’t do anything because they actually did not have the power to do anything, even if they wanted to. Because I came into that environment to listen, with no violence in me at all. And the vast number of people there saw that. That to me was the indicator of the power of listening and non-violence,” Rahul Gandhi said as he spoke on the topic of Learning to Listen in the 21st century.

Rahul Gandhi said the idea of Bharat Jodo started as he found that as the opposition party, it was very difficult to reach the people in an environment where the media, and the democratic architecture are under attack. “People who came to meet us during Bharat Jodo started sharing personal accounts with us as the yatra took an emotion turn,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Narrating an account of meeting two women who told him during the yatra that they were gangraped, Rahul Gandhi said, “I told them to report it to the police. They refused and said they would be shamed for life and won’t get married. They told me that they just wanted to confide in their brother. I asked them how I could help them. They said there was nothing to do and walked away.”

As the Bharat Jodo Yatra reached Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi was resisted by the security personnel. “They said you will get a hand grenade thrown at you. So I will become responsible for the 120 people walking with me. I told my partymen that I wanted to continue the walk. As we continued, Indian Flag started coming up everywhere. We were told 2,000 people would show up and 40,000 people came. The security system got overloaded and collapsed. The next day, they set it up properly,” Rahul Gandhi said showing photos from the yatra in Kashmir.(HT)
