    Hyderabad: Telangana health minister T Harish Rao proposed the extension of Basti Dawakhana operating hours across the state till 2 pm on Sundays in order to improve the accessibility of healthcare services to walk-in patients.

    The minister in a monthly review meeting reiterated the government’s commitment to providing high-quality medical services to the people.

    Assuring that the government would address issues related to shortages of medicines, medical equipment, and staff, the minister asked the medical officers to monitor the health condition of patients referred to hospitals by primary healthcare centres.

    Emphasizing the importance of comprehensive healthcare monitoring, from primary health centres to referral hospitals, Harish Rao directed the department officials stating that the sole aim of healthcare workers should be to achieve the ‘number one’ status for Telangana.

    Stating that the medical colleges within the districts would enhance healthcare provision further, Harish Rao recommended patient referral to Osmania, NIMS, and Gandhi hospitals only when necessary.

    Highlighted the importance of raising awareness about palliative services. the minister emphasized the significance of the Arogya Mahila program for comprehensive women’s healthcare.

    Harish Rao further stressed the promotion of the toll-free helpline number 14416 (Telemanas) as a solution for individuals facing mental health issues while he urged for its publicity so that no person in need of healthcare remains deprived of crucial information.

    Finally, the minister urged the health department to ensure that deliveries or childbirths were conducted naturally and C-sections were offered only to high-risk patients.

    Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari held a high-level meeting on the functioning of the health department. She said that due to the revolutionary schemes given by Chief Minister KCR, medical and health services in the state have improved and quality medical services are being provided to the people of Telangana.

    The Chief Secretary said that both the quality of life and health of the people in the state of Telangana have improved. The government’s schemes, especially Kanti Velugu (eye sight), KCR kit, KCR nutrition kit and complete inspection for women journalists, were successfully implemented.

    Shanti Kumari said that 1328808 people have benefited from the KCR kit so far, while 29.10 lakh people have benefited from the government’s schemes. He said that KCR kits are being distributed free of cost to the people.

    According to Shanti Kumari, 95 percent of deliveries is being done in hospitals and the percentage of deliveries in government hospitals has increased from 30 to 61 percent. She said that incentives are being given to the staff in the form of delivery in primary health centers.

    The KCR Nutrition Kit, which was launched on an experimental basis in nine districts, is providing nutritious food diets to pregnant women which have resulted in a reduction in maternal and child mortality. KCR Nutritious Foods will soon be distributed to all districts of the state, she said.

    She said that on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a scheme of medical examinations of women was launched under which 5214 women were examined. Telangana Diagnostics was launched in Hyderabad and 57 types of inspections are being conducted free of cost in 22 districts. She said that 8.90 crore tests were conducted on 49 lakh people. 1.4 crore people inspected in 352 Basti Dawakhanas. She said that 46 more Basti Dawakhanas will be set up soon.

    As per the promise of the Municipal Administration Minister, master health check-up was started for women journalists. Under this scheme, 56 types of inspections and 12 separate tests will be conducted and the Information and Public Relations Department has been requested to make arrangements.

    The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Secretary Health Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, OSD to the Chief Minister Dr T Gangadhar, Commissioner Health Shweta Mohite, Director Public Health Srinivas Rao and other office bearers.

    Hyderabad: The fourth Basthi Dawakhana of Siddipet was launched at Indiramma Colony by Telangana health minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday.

    The minister, while speaking at the event said that a total of 158 kinds of medicines in these Dawakhanas apart from 133 diagnostic services were being offered.

    “A cath lab, chemo, and radiotherapy services would be made available to provide medical treatment to the poor on par with those available in corporate hospitals in the state,” added Harish Rao.

    “A palliative centre and a five-bed ward for terminally ill cancer patients have been set up apart from Amma Odi vehicle for pregnant women and infants, vehicle for terminally ill cancer patients, 108 ambulance service to provide emergency medical services besides Parampara to carry the bodies of poor dead patients from hospital to cremation grounds,” he added.

    Launching the concept of Basthi Dawakhanas in Hyderabad by setting up 350 of these clinics across the state, Harish Rao said the health department had so far offered services to over two crore people.

    The minister later visited a Kanti Velugu camp at Bara Imama Junction in Siddipet town wher he called upon elected representatives to guide the patients in need of surgeries, to visit LV Prasad Hospital.

    Hyderabad: Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao informed the Assembly on Sunday that 134 tests would be accessible in Basti Dawakhanas across the state beginning in March.

    Currently, 57 tests are available in the Dawakhanas.

    In response to a question from BRS members KP Vivekanand, B Ganesh, and K Chander, Harish Rao stated that even expensive tests such as lipid profiles and thyroid tests were performed in Basti Dawakhanas.

    “So far, over 1.48 lakh Lipid profiles worth Rs.12 crore and 1.8 lakh thyroid tests worth Rs.8 crore have been conducted free of cost in Basti Dawakhanas,” he said.

    “The establishment of Basti Dawakhanas relieved a significant burden on the outpatient services at Gandhi Hospital, Osmania Hospital, and Niloufer Hospital. Outpatients at Osmania Hospital fell from 12 lakhs in 2019 to 5 lakh in 2022, while at Gandhi Hospital they fell from 6 lakhs to 3.70 lakhs and at Niloufer Hospital from 8 lakhs to 5.3 lakhs,” he further informed.

    He stated that the state government had sanctioned 496 Basti Dawakhanas, of which 345 were operational and the remaining 151 would begin operations in March.

    Harish rao further said that there are 264 Basti Dawakhanas operating in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 36 in the Hyderabad urban agglomeration, and 45 in various municipalities.

    Harish Rao stated that the distribution of KCR nutrition kits would commence in all districts in April and that the scheme was originally initiated in the Kamareddy district last December and expanded to a few districts. He stated that the government would also release a notification to fill 1540 Asha worker positions.
