Bandi Sanjay appears before women’s panel

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay on Saturday appeared before State Women’s Commission in response to the notice issued for his derogatory comments against BRS leader K. Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Taking serious note of the comments, the Commission questioned Sanjay for about two-and-a-half hours. The panel pulled him up and warned him against making such comments in future.

The Commission members reportedly showed Bandi Sanjay videos of his objectionable remarks made against women on various occasions and posed him several questions.

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, clarified that he did not make any derogatory comments against Kavitha.

It was immediately not clear if the Commission would summon the BJP leader again.

After appearing before the Commission, he told reporters that the remarks he made were a common phrase used in Telangana.

Earlier, there was some tension outside the office of women’s commission as BRS workers staged a protest demanding action against Sanjay.

Women leaders and workers of BJP had also gathered there to defend their state president.

Sanjay had made the remark while targeting Kavitha over the Delhi liquor policy case in which she was recently questioned by the Enforcement Directorate.

The BJP leader’s office defended the statement calling it a common phrase used in Telugu which translated to if someone commits a crime, would you appreciate or punish.

The Commission had summoned Sanjay to appear before it on March 15 but he wrote to the panel on Tuesday that since the Budget Session of the Parliament was in progress and his presence is must, he could not appear on March 15. He requested for permission to appear on March 18.

The Commission on Wednesday responded positively to his request.

The women’s panel had taken suo moto note of the derogatory comment made by Sanjay against Kavitha, who is also a member of Telangana Legislative Council.

The ruling party has taken serious note of Sanjay’s remark and staged protests at various places in the state demanding his apology. BRS leaders also lodged police complaints against Sanjay.

13 exam paper leaks in Gujarat in last 8 yrs, will Bandi ask for Modi’s resignation?: KTR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: BRS working president and IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has slammed BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay over the TSPSC paper leak issue, saying that the former made ‘unfounded accusations’ against the state government without knowing that TSPSC is a constitutional body and the state has a limited role to play.

“This demonstrates the level of his ignorance,” KTR remarked.

KTR delivered a press statement here on Friday warning that Sanjay would soon be prosecuted for his ‘political plots’. He admonished the BJP leaders to refrain from ‘politicking’ the situation for their own personal advantage.

The BRS working president stated that by attributing one person’s error to the entire TSPSC, the BJP was attempting to incite ‘unrest’ among the youth who were out of jobs. Rama Rao recalled that Bandi Sanjay had made an appeal to the youth to quit their employment and cease studying for exams in order to campaign for the BJP.

The minister added that the saffron party lacked ‘moral standing’ to cast doubt on the BRS government’s resolve to help the unemployed and that there had been countless instances of paper leaks in numerous BJP-ruled states.

“In Gujarat, the state of Narendra Modi, 13 exam papers have been stolen during the past eight years. Does Bandi Sanjay have the guts to ask for Modi’s resignation?” he asked.

“How the government responds to an issue when it emerges is essential,” Rama Rao remarked, recalling how, as soon as the paper leak issue surfaced, the state government acted quickly, formed an SIT, and detained all the offenders.

“Although the occurrence was regrettable, the TSPSC has decided to cancel the Group-1 preliminary examinations in order to uphold justice and consider the future of all qualified candidates,” he said.

He reassured Telangana’s youth and students were reassured that they didn’t need to be concerned about the recruitment process.

He added that the BRS government had already demonstrated its commitment to the unemployed youth by filling up vacant positions and that the state government would take all necessary steps to achieve justice for each and every unemployed youth in the state.

“The State government established a new zonal system, unique to the rest of the nation, with the aspirational goal of delivering 95% of the jobs for Telangana’s youth as evidence of its dedication to their welfare,” he said.

He stated that Bandi Sanjay has previously used a similar style of irrational personal accusation in relation to the Intermediate exams without possessing even a basic understanding of how the government functions.

BJP’s win in Teachers’ MLC proves anti-incumbency against BRS: Bandi

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Bandi Sanjay on Friday said that BJP winning the MLC seat in the Teachers’ constituency has proven strong sentiment of anti-incumbency against the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

He added that polling for Mahbubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad teacher’s constituency has set the mood for Assembly elections.

While speaking to the media persons, Sanjay said, “This is the first time in the history of Telangana that the BJP won the MLC seat in the Teachers’ constituency.

This election proves strong anti-incumbency against the BRS, especially among government employees and the educated sections. This election has set the mood for the Assembly elections in November.”

The polling for the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Teachers Constituency was held on March 13, with about 29,720 voters enrolled spread over nine districts in the constituency.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-backed candidate AVN Reddy won the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Teachers’ Member of Legislative Council (MLC) seat in Telangana.

After 21 rounds of counting, AVN Reddy secured 13,436 votes, crossing the required quota of 12,709 votes to emerge victorious.

Bandi Sanjay summoned by Telangana women’s commission on March 18

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: After summons from the State Commission for Women to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president and MP Bandi Sanjay over his alleged derogatory remarks on Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha, Bandi has requested to adjourn the date to March 18 instead of March 15, as the parliament is in session.

Telangana state women’s commission on Monday had taken suo moto cognizance of Bandi’s remark on the BRS MLC K Kavitha.

Following the summon letter, Sanjay on Tuesday wrote a letter to the Women’s Commission requesting it to postpone the date of his appearance before the body.

He said that “Since the Budget session is going to be held in his presence in the Parliament that is a must, hence I can’t appear before the Commission on Wednesday. I would be available on March 18 at the convenience of the Commission.”

He also requested the Commission to provide details of the case in which he had been issued summons so as to prepare in that direction.

So far, three cases have been registered against Bandi Sanjay for allegedly using defamatory and derogatory comments against Kavitha.

The cases against Bandi Sanjay are registered at the Saroornagar, L. B Nagar and Chaitanyapuri police stations under the Rachakonda police limits.

Bandi Sanjay, while addressing a rally had stated, “Few journalists asked me if Kavitha would be arrested. If or not arrested should Kavitha be kissed?”

His comments did not go down well with the BRS cadres who protested and burnt effigies in the national capital.

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan denied an appointment to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders who were protesting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s recent comments on MLC K Kavitha.

Upon not receiving an appointment with the Governor, the BRS leaders submit the complaint letter to BR Ambedkar Statue and pasted copies of the complaint on the walls of Raj Bhavan.

In the complaint letter to the Governor, BRS leaders called the Governor to take action against the “brazen comments deliberately made by Bandi Sanjay,” by issuing stern warnings.

As the Governor denied an appointment, the BRS women were prevented from entering the Raj Bhavan by the police.

Bandi Sanjay, while addressing a rally on Saturday said, “Few journalists asked me if Kavitha would be arrested. If or not arrested should Kavitha be kissed!”

His comments did not go down well with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) cadres who protested and burnt effigies in the national capital.

In response, Bandi Sanjay’s office said the statement used by the BJP leader is a common phrase used in the Telugu language which means if someone does a crime, would you appreciate or punish?

State Women’s Commission chairperson Sunitha Laxma Reddy in a statement issued on Saturday described Bandi’s comments as derogatory and highly objectionable.

Hyderabad: 3 cases against Bandi Sanjay for comments on Kavitha

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Three cases have been registered against Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana president Bandi Sanjay for allegedly using defamatory and derogatory comments against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Member of Legislative Council member K Kavitha.

Kavitha had presented herself before the Enforcement Directorate on Saturday, which issued her notice asking her to join a probe with regard to the liquor scam in Delhi. The cases against Bandi Sanjay are registered at the Saroornagar, L. B Nagar and Chaitanyapuri police stations under the Rachakonda police limits.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event at the state BJP office on Wednesday to mark International Women’s Day, Sanjay asked the MLC what the people of Telangana had to do with the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam.

Bandi Sanjay during a program on Wednesday had said, “Did Kavitha indulge in an illegal liquor deal for the sake of the Telangana people? Is that ill-gotten money being spent on crop loan waivers or payment of salaries to employees or towards unemployment allowance?” Sanjay asked.

He said while the people of Telangana have never had any reason to bow their heads in shame, they were now forced to do so in the light of Kavitha’s alleged involvement in the liquor policy case. “Kavitha’s wicket is down in the liquor scam and very soon several more in the BRS will be clean bowled. There is no question of sparing those involved in the liquor scam and gambling activities,” Sanjay said.

The BJP state president alleged further that the women in Telangana were being subjected to insults and humiliation in the KCR regime. He accused KCR of not respecting women.

“During his first stint (as CM), there was not a single woman member in his cabinet. He will never make a woman member the party’s president. There is no women’s commission (in Telangana). For KCR, only his daughter Kavitha represents the entire womenfolk,” the BJP leader alleged.

Sanjay’s comments on Kavitha also landed him in a soup with the Telangana State Women’s Commission taking suo moto cognizance.

State Women’s Commission chairperson Sunitha Laxma Reddy in a statement issued here on Saturday described Bandi’s comments as derogatory and highly objectionable. “We have sent a notice to the BJP state president and also asked Director General of Police Anjani Kumar to take strict action against Bandi Sanjay Kumar,” Sunita Laxma Reddy stated.

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) activists lodged a complaint against Telangana BJP president after his remarks against MLC Kavitha at a rally on Saturday.

A case was reportedly registered under Section 504 (Whoever intentionally insults, and thereby gives provocation to any person, intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause him to break the public peace) and 509 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

Earlier in the day, Bandi Sanjay, while addressing a rally said, “Few journalists asked me if Kavitha would be arrested. If or not arrested should Kavitha be kissed!” His comments did not go down well with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) cadres who protested and burnt effigies in the national capital.

Telangana State Women’s Commission chairperson Sunitha Laxma Reddy took a suo motu cognizance against Bandi Sanjay. She released a statement describing Bandi’s comments as derogatory and highly objectionable. Kavitha was summoned by the central investigating agency, Enforcement Directorate, in connection with the liquor policy case on March 8. She is currently also being questioned.

According to sources, Kavitha will be made to sit face-to-face with Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Ramchandra Pillai, who was also arrested in the same case. Pillai is one of the alleged key persons in the entire scam involving payments of huge kickbacks and the formation of the biggest cartel of the ‘South Group’.

South Group, according to the investigation, comprises Telangana MLC Kavitha, Sarath Reddy (promoter of Aurobindo Group), Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy (MP, Ongole), his son Raghav Magunta, and others. The South Group was being represented by Pillai, Abhishek Boinpalli and Butchi Babu, the federal agency revealed.

Pillai along with his associates was reportedly coordinating with various persons to execute the political understanding between the South Group and a leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Pillai has been an accomplice and was involved in the kickbacks from the South Group and the recoupment of the same from the businesses in Delhi, ED investigation reveals.

Pillai is learnt to be a partner of 32.5 percent in Indo Spirits, which had got an L1 license. Indo Spirits is a partnership firm of Arun Pillai (32.5 percent), Prem Rahul (32.5 percent) and Indospirit Distribution Limited (35 percent), wherein Arun Pillai and Prem Rahul represented the benami investments of Kavitha and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy and his son Raghava Magunta.

Kavitha, who is a member of the Telangana Legislative Council, was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the same case in December last year.

It was alleged that irregularities were committed including modifications in the Excise Policy, which was passed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal-led cabinet in the peak of the COVID-19 second wave in 2021, and undue favours were extended to the license holders including waiver or reduction in license fee, an extension of L-1 license without approval etc

Telangana: Kavitha is using hunger strike to divert attention, says Bandi

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday accused Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC K Kavitha of using the hunger strike in support of the Women’s Reservation Bill to divert people’s attention from her involvement in ‘liquor mafia’.

Speaking at the ‘Mahila Gosa-BJP Bharosa’ dharna at the party headquarters in Hyderabad, he said that Kavitha has no ‘moral right’ to take up a strike for women’s bill and alleged that she had no support of any women in the state.“The entire country is bowing its head in shame because of Kavitha’s nefarious activities,” he added.

“It is an open secret that the only well-known female face in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party is K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter. Even in Telangana Jagruthi, there is no other woman except Kavitha. People are laughing at her for taking up the strike for the women’s bill,” said Sanjay.

He said that Telangana women were scared of two flags – that of the BRS and the AIMIM, as the parties were protecting those accused of atrocities on women.

He questioned why the women’s bill was not discussed at the cabinet meeting convened by KCR on Thursday and why the BRS MPs had not raised the issue in Parliament.

The BJP leader also questioned why KCR was not following the 33 percent quota for women in the formation of cabinet, distribution of party tickets to MPs and MLAs, and BRS organisational structure.

The BJP state president said, “During the Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime, the NDA government had introduced the bill on July 13, 1998 but it was torn to pieces by Rashtriya Janata Dal”.

“Even in 1999, 2002 and 2003, the NDA government introduced the women’s reservation bill, but the opposition parties had opposed the same,” alleged Sanjay.

He said that the Modi government had given utmost respect to women, as many as 11 women were inducted into the Modi cabinet. “Sushma Swaraj is the first female foreign minister and Nirmala Sitaraman is the first defence and finance minister,” he added.

“An Adivasi woman has been made the President of India, eight women were made Governors and four as chief ministers. Women were given prominent positions in all the three military forces,”Sanjay said.
    .
Accusing KCR of doing nothing for the women in the state he recounted the Union government’s schemes that benefited women. “Modi had granted gas connections to nine crore women, power connections to 2.5 crore people under Sowbhagya scheme, houses for 3 crore women and opened 25 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts for 25 crore women,” he added.

Is liquor scam money being spent on Telangana’s welfare?: Bandi Sanjay

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bandi Sanjay Kumar strongly opposed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha’s statement that Telangana people would never bow before Delhi rulers.

“Is Kavitha indulging in illegal liquor deals for the sake of Telangana people? Is that ill-gotten money being spent on crop loan waiver or payment of salaries to the employees or towards unemployment allowance?” Sanjay asked.

Addressing a gathering at the state BJP office on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Sanjay wondered in what way the people of Telangana were concerned with the liquor scam involving chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter.

Stating that the people of Telangana had never bowed before to anybody in the country, Sanjay said they were now forced to bow their heads in shame because of the illegal liquor scam involving Kavitha.

“Kavitha’s wicket is down with the liquor scam and very soon, all the BRS wickets would be clean bowled. There is no question of leaving those who were involved in liquor scam and gambling activities,” he said.

The BJP president further alleged that womenfolk of Telangana were subject to insults and humiliation during the KCR regime.

“KCR’s son K T Rama Rao had no time to call on the family members of Dr Preethi who died by suicide due to alleged mental torture by her senior. But he would go to Sania Mirza’s last tennis match,” he criticized.

Bandi went on to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative for women’s welfare. “Apart from constructing 11 crore individual toilets, Modi granted gas connections to nine crore women, constructed houses for 3 crore women, and opened 25 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts for 25 crore women,” he pointed out.

On the other hand, KCR had shown no respect to women. “During his first stint as chief minister, there was not a single woman in his cabinet. There may never be a woman president in BRS. There is no women’s commission. For KCR, only his daughter Kavitha represents the entire womenfolk – whether it was for playing Bathukamma or holding meetings of women,” he said.

Pointed out that BJP had reserved 30 percent of its organisational positions for women, Sanjay said, “The party had made a tribal woman as the President of India; eight women as governors, four as chief ministers and 11 women MPs as Union ministers.”

Assuring that a good number of women who had the chance of winning would be given the party tickets in the upcoming Assembly elections, Sanjay urged women vote to vote in favor of BJP.
