No proposal before Congress to ban Bajrang Dal: Veerappa Moily

    [ad_1]

Mangaluru: Amid strong protest from the Sangh Parivar against the Congress manifesto mentioning a ban on Bajrang Dal, senior Congress leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister Veerappa Moily on Wednesday said there was no suggestion before the party to ban Bajrang Dal if elected to power.

Addressing reporters in Udupi, he said the Congress had mentioned action against organisations like the Bajrang Dal in the manifesto in the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s stringent observations against hate politics.

Moily said state governments did not have the right to ban such organisations. “The BJP, which now adores Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, forgets that Patel had banned the RSS at one juncture,” he said, adding that Jawaharlal Nehru later revoked the decision.

“The Supreme Court’s stand over hate politics is very clear. We had made the statement in our manifesto as a part of it. But we have no intention of banning Bajrang Dal. KPCC president D K Shivakumar has made it clear today,” Moily said.

Meanwhile, addressing reporters in Mangaluru, AICC spokesperson Gourav Vallabh alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hurt the sentiments of the devotees of Lord Hanuman by equating Lord Hanuman with an organisation.

He demanded an apology from the Prime Minister for his offensive remark on Lord Hanuman. “No one has given the Prime Minister the right to offend Bajrang Bali. He should apologise to Kannadigas for equating between an individual or organisation and Lord Hanuman,” he said.

The Congress is committed to taking action against individuals and organisations that sow the seeds of division and spread hatred in the society, Vallabh said.

Hyderabad: Bajrang Dal protests at Congress’ office for PFI comparison

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Bajrang Dal unit of Telangana on Wednesday besieged the Congress party’s office at Nampally to protest the former’s comparison of the organization to the Popular Front of India (PFI).

The Congress party leaders in Karnataka on Tuesday likened the Bajrang Dal to the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI) and stated the party was committed to taking decisive action, including imposing a ban on outfits spreading hatred among communities.

The Congress leaders said that the grand old party is committed to taking ‘firm and decisive action’ against individuals and organisations ‘spreading hatred amongst communities on the grounds of caste and religion’.

    MS Education Academy

“We believe that law and constitution are sacrosanct and cannot be violated by individuals and organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities. We will take decisive action as per law including imposing a ban on such organisations,” the party mentioned in its election manifesto released on Tuesday.

Over a hundred policemen were stationed at the Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday following a protest call by the Bajrang Dal unit of Telangana. Despite it, the Bajrang Dal activists came in dozens and attempted to lay siege to Gandhi Bhavan. The activists were taken into custody and shifted to different police stations including Bolaram, Begum Bazaar and Musheerabad.

Bajrang Dal state convener Shivaramulu expressed anger and stated that comparing Bajrang Dal with a ‘terrorist organization like Popular Front of India (PFI) which has terrorist roots’ is wrong.

He said that the Congress party has once again proved that it is an anti-Hindu party. “Congress party has once again spewed poison on the Hindus during the elections in the state of Karnataka,” he remarked.

Comparing Bajrang Dal with the terrorist organization PFI in the election manifesto, he said that banning Bajrang Dal is a despicable process. “Insulting Hindus for the satisfaction of Muslims is evil,” he said.

Shiva Ramulu stated that effigies of the Congress party were burnt under the leadership of Bajrang Dal across the state of Telangana to protest against the ‘hatred’ of the Congress.

BJP using Cong’s Bajrang Dal ban promise as a poll tool in Karnataka

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: The BJP is pursuing an aggressive campaign in Karnataka as the state inches closer to the May 10 Assembly polls, especially after the Congress in its election manifesto promised to impose a ban on the Bajrang Dal if voted to power.

The BJP national leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are making it a point to include the “Jai Bajrang Bali” slogan in their public rallies. They are claiming that the Congress is insulting Lord Hanuman, revered by all Hindus.

The trend is fast catching on as the “I am Bajrangi” campaign is going viral on social media in Karnataka. Adding to it, Hindu outfits and the Bajrang Dal have given a call for reciting the Hanuman Chalisa in all temples of the state on Thursday (May 4).

    MS Education Academy

The Hindu organisations and the Bajrang Dal have expressed outrage over comparing the Bajrang Dal to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka president Nalin Kumar Kateel proclaimed in the presence of PM Modi at a public rally in Moodbidri that if the Congress has the capacity, let it ban the Bajrang Dal.

However, Karnataka Congress president D.K. Shivakumar, reacting to the row following the proposal to ban the Bajrang Dal in the manifesto, asked what is the connection between the Bajrang Dal and Bajrang Bali (Lord Hanuman).

Shivakumar stated that, “We are also devotees of Lord Hanuman. Are the BJP leaders the only devotees of Hanuman? The paradise of peace (Karnataka) should not be disturbed. There should be harmony.”

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje stated that the Bajrang Dal is a part of the RSS and working with the youth for the nation. It has never indulged in anti-national activities. The Congress manifesto has been released to appease the Muslims.

Karnataka: Congress likens Bajrang Dal to PFI, promises to ban it

    [ad_1]

As Karnataka inches closer to voting for the next state government on May 10, the Congress party has promised to ban organisations that spread communal hatred in the state.

In its manifesto released on Tuesday, the Congress party leaders including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, state president D K Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah party’s national spokesperson Pawan Khera, senior leader P Chidambaram identified and compared Hindutva organisation Bajrang Dal in the same lengths to the banned Islamic organisation PFI (Popular Front of India).

On September 28, 2022, the BJP-led Central Government banned PFI for five years, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. They stated PFI had a secret agenda of radicalising certain sections of the society that posed a threat to India’s integrity, sovereignty and security.

The Congress party on Tuesday said if voted to power, it will take action against any individual, and organisations responsible for spreading communal hatred or promoting enmity between different communities.

The manifesto named ‘Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota’ (peaceful garden of all communities), states, “The Congress Party is committed to take firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred amongst communities on grounds of caste or religion. We believe that law and Constitution is sacrosanct and can not be violated by individuals and Organisations like Bajrang Dal, PFI or others promoting enmity or hatred, whether among majority or minority communities.”

Karnataka will go to the Assembly elections on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.

    VHP, BJP not happy

Reacting strongly over the comparison of Bajrang Dal with PFI, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Hindutva organisations Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) termed Congress’s manifesto as ‘unfortunate for the people of Karnataka’.

International joint general secretary of VHP Dr Surendra Jain posted a video saying that each and every Bajrang Dal worker works for India’s development and prosperity.

He alleged that the defamation of Bajrang Dal is a part of Congress’s conspiracy theory and the party has always supported PFI in the past. “Bajrang Dal has always stood against anti-India elements like PFI while remaining inside the perimeters of the Constitution,” Surendra Jain said.

BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya posted Jain’s video and tweeted, “Surendra Jain, International General Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, tears into the Congress for equating Bajrang Dal with banned terror organisation PFI… Reminds Sonia Gandhi how she opposed a ban on, now banned, SIMI. The Congress, it seems, has decided to dig its grave.”

Using #KannadigasWithModi as a hashtag, BJP Karnataka, on its official Twitter account, tweeted, “I’m fortunate to be at the birthplace of Shri Hanuman, but it also unfortunate to know that at the same time I’m here, the Congress has declared to ban the Bajrang Dal, who revere Bajrang Bali Hanuman, if they come to power: PM Shri @narendramodi.”

RSS leader Rupa Murthy tweeted, “Karnataka Congress has promised to ban BAJRANG DAL IN KARNATAKA if voted to power. What next? Mandate celebrations of Tippu Jayanti in every household. Jail those who wear Janeu? Ban Kumkuma and Kalava? If you still want to vote Congress to power in Karnataka, or if you simply want to abstain from voting, you too are a huge part of the problem! #FullSupportToBajrangDal.”

WFI chief claims Bajrang Punia, Cong’s Deepender Hooda behind ‘plot’; thanks Akhilesh

    [ad_1]

Gonda: Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing sexual harassment allegations and protest by a section of top wrestlers, Sunday alleged that Congress leader Deepender Hooda hatched the conspiracy against him and praised SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for not supporting the agitators.

Singh, who is also a BJP MP, alleged that Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist grappler Bajrang Punia was also involved in the conspiracy against him.

The WFI chief is in the eye of a storm after the grapplers levelled sexual harassment charges against him and demanded his arrest as well as ouster from the Wrestling Federation of India. Various political parties, including the Congress and AAP, have lent their support to the wrestlers.

    MS Education Academy

Singh, who has till now remained defiant about not quitting his post, said that he was ready to resign if it would make the protesters go back home. “If they go back and sleep peacefully after my resignation, I am ready to do so.”

Interacting with reporters at his residence in Bishnoharpur, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh alleged that “this whole conspiracy was hatched by Congress leader Deepender Hooda and wrestler Bajrang Punia. We have an audio (clip) to prove this. When the time comes, it will be handed over to the Delhi Police.”

About political leaders visiting the protest site of wrestlers in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, the WFI president said, “The fight has now gone out of the hands of the players. Political parties have entered into this. I could see the signs from day one.”

Talking to PTI here, the WFI president said, “I want to thank the leader of the Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav (for not siding with the protesting wrestlers). I know him since his childhood. I am elder to him. Though there are political differences between us, Akhilesh knows the truth.”

“If there are 10,000 wrestlers in Uttar Pradesh, 8,000 of them are from the Yadav community and belong to the Samajwadi family. Hence they know the truth,” he said.

The Delhi Police on Friday registered two FIRs against Singh on allegations of sexual harassment levelled by seven women wrestlers. While the first FIR pertained to allegations of a minor wrestler and was registered under the POCSO Act, the second was related to outraging modesty.

The BJP MP from Kaiserganj added that the protesters are mere “toys” in the hands of the Opposition.

“All these players have become toys in the hands of the Congress and other opposition parties. Their motive is political and not my resignation,” Singh said, adding that he was yet to receive a copy of the FIR registered against him.

The WFI chief wondered why the railway board was not stopping wrestlers associated with the railways from sitting on protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

“It is their right to protest. But, can a player associated with the railways sit on a protest like this where objectionable slogans are being raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,” he asked.

Replying to a question, the BJP MP said, “Don’t drag the party (BJP) into this. These allegations are levelled against me as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India and not as a BJP MP.”

“I have to prove my innocence… If the party asks me to resign, I will do so immediately.”

About Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s participation in the wrestlers’ protest, Singh said “She does not know the facts. Deepender Hooda, the architect of this conspiracy, brought her to the protest site.”

“The day she comes to know the truth or the day the investigation report comes out she will realize that she should not have gone to the protest site. I openly challenge them to fight against me from Kaiserganj, Gonda, Shravasti or any Lok Sabha seat in the area. The result will clear all misunderstandings.”

The BJP MP claimed that “a big industrialist is responsible for the conspiracy against me.” Asked to name the industrialist, he said, “If I do so, he will get me killed.”

The protesting wrestlers had on Saturday warned against using their platform for political gains claiming few people were trying to take their fight for justice in a different direction.

New Delhi: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday said none of the three accused arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for killing gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf has any link with it or its youth wing, Bajrang Dal.

Dismissing allegations regarding the Bajrang Dal’s involvement in the killing of Ahmad, a former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP, and Ashraf, VHP working president Alok Kumar said his organisation and the Bajrang Dal work “under the framework of laws and the Constitution”.

“We have enquired properly. None of the three accused has any connection with the Vishva Hindu Parishad or the Bajrang Dal. What is being spread is false,” Kumar said when asked about the allegations.

“Taking law in our own hands has never been our thought. We are confident that the truth will come out during the investigation,” he added.

  • Karnataka Azaan row: Bajrang Dal barges into, sprinkles gaumutra at DC’s office

Karnataka Azaan row: Bajrang Dal barges into, sprinkles gaumutra at DC’s office

    [ad_1]

A few Hindutva workers said to be Bajrang Dal members on Monday allegedly sprinkled gaumutra (cow urine) outside the Deputy Commissioners (DC) office, in Shivamogga, Karnataka after a Muslim man delivered Azaan (call to prayer) at the same place a few days ago.

In a video that has been doing rounds on social media, the Hindu right-wing members can be seen wearing saffron scarves, shouting “Jai Shree Ram” and sprinkling what is said to be cow urine from a bottle.

In the footage, police can be seen trying to foil the attempt of Bajrang Dal members however, they managed to sprinkle gaumutra on the ground.

This row erupted after the controversial statement of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader KS Eshwarappa on Allah after he heard Azaan in the background while delivering a speech on Sunday, March 12 in Mangaluru.

Eshwarappa stirred a controversy by stating “Does Allah listen only if the Azaan prayers are played on loudspeakers?”

“Wherever I go, this is a headache.” He went on to add, “We also carry out worship in our temples. Sholaks and bhajans are performed. Even we have more devoutness and respect towards God than them,” stated KS Eshwarappa.

In the aftermath of Eshwarappa’s statement, some Muslim men in Shivamogga on Friday staged a protest at the DC’s office where the man allegedly recited Azaan loudly on the premises during the protest.

Responding to the incident, KS Eshwarappa on Monday said, “I will write a memorandum to the Union Home Minister and the chief minister of Karnataka seeking action against a Muslim man who recited an Azaan.

Speaking to the media, Eshwarappa said that the youth, who performed Azaan is associated with the Socialist Democratic Party of India (SDPI). The police had booked the youngster under IPC Section 107 and granted him bail.

“This is a system which will destroy democracy. The people who will perform Azaan like this don’t know whether they are living in Pakistan or India. Why do we need government departments if this is what is happening? This incident has caused a serious threat to democracy,” he added.

When Siasat.com contacted the police on this case, they declined to comment stating that no case has been registered against the sprinkling of gaumutra.

‘Against Hindu culture’: Bajrang Dal stops late-night ladies’ party in Shivamogga

    [ad_1]

Bajrang Dal workers allegedly stopped a late-night ladies’ party at a hotel on Kuvempu Road on Friday evening in an act of moral policing.

The police were called to the scene to prevent any ‘untoward incidents’. After the workers objected to the party, those inside the hotel, including women, men, and a few children, came out.

“We informed the police a week ago that a ladies’ night party would be held,” Bajrang Dal leader Rajesh Gowda said, speaking to media. “Such gatherings should not be held in the Malnad region. We went with the cops and put an end to the party,” he added.

He claimed that women participating in such events is against ‘Hindu culture.’ “The Bajrang Dal would not tolerate such events in Shivamogga,” he said, objecting to the women’s attire at the party, among other things.
