‘When Babri Masjid was demolished, they…,’ Asaduddin Owaisi hits out at Congress

Hubballi: Hitting out at the Congress party on Tuesday, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that the grand old party just makes promises before the elections but non of them are fulfilled.

Referring to the Babri Masjid demolition, he said that Congress made a resolution of rebuilding the mosque but nothing was done.

“When Babri Masjid was demolished, they made a resolution of rebuilding a mosque there. What became of that? A lot of things are said before elections. You can see what happens post-elections…,” said Owaisi.

Owaisi refuted the claims made by Congress that he was sent by the BJP to divide Muslim votes in the poll-bound Karnataka.

“…This is nonsense. We are contesting on only 2 seats across Karnataka. There is a saying in Urdu – naach na jaane aangan tedha. That is their case,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Congress released its manifesto for Karnataka polls making a slew of promises such as ‘Gruha Jyoti’, ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ and ‘Anna Bhagya’ even as it apparently sought to draw a parallel between Bajrang Dal and PFI and said it will take decisive action as per law including imposing a ban on any organisations which promote enmity and hatred.

The manifesto was released by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge in the presence of senior state leaders.

The party said it will increase the quota limit from 50 per cent to 75 per cent for all castes based on population.

The party also promised to release the Socio-Economic caste census and accord social justice accordingly.

The Congress said it will ensure 80 per cent of jobs in Karnataka to local people in both the public and private sectors.

The party has promised a start-up fund of Rs 10 crore to each constituency.

Karnataka will go to Assembly polls on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.

  • No Shiv Sena worker involvement in Babri Masjid demolition, claims Maha minister

No Shiv Sena worker involvement in Babri Masjid demolition, claims Maha minister

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Maharashtra minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Chandrakant Patil on Monday said not a single worker of the Shiv Sena was near the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya when it was brought down by the Bajrang Dal and Durga Vahini on December 6, 1992.

Patil, minister of higher and technical education in the Eknath Shinde government and a former Maharashtra BJP chief, made the comment while speaking to a regional news channel.

Incidentally, Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray has often been quoted as saying that he was proud if any of his Sainiks took part in the demolition of the disputed structure.

“I was placed there by the Bajrang Dal for three-four months to facilitate kar sevaks arriving in Ayodhya. People participating were either from Bajrang Dal, VHP or Durga Vahini. Former Bihar state deputy CM (and senior BJP leader) Sushil Kumar Modi, legislator Harendra Kumar and I were given the task to manage the kar sevaks and ensure their safe passage,” Patil claimed.

“We three were working there as national general secretaries. The RSS’ strength was behind us but it did not participate openly. It had distributed its work to like minded organisations,” Patil claimed.

Patil further said Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut keeps talking about the Babri Masjid demolition, adding he wondered if the latter was even there at the temple town in Uttar Pradesh at the time.

He also took a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray for accusing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of stealing the legacy of Bal Thackeray.

The late Shiv Sena founder was not the property of anyone and was someone who was hugely respected by the people, Patil added.

“Balasaheb is the property of all Hindus and everyone is free to use his name (legacy),” said Patil.

The Shiv Sena split in June last year after the rebellion by Shinde, who got the party name and ‘bow and arrow’ symbol, while Uddhav Thackeray’s faction was christened Shiv Sena (UBT) with a flaming torch as its symbol.

  • UP: New Ayodhya mosque to be bigger than Babri, says IICF secy

UP: New Ayodhya mosque to be bigger than Babri, says IICF secy

Ayodhya: The Ayodhya Development Authority has given the final clearance for the construction of Dhannipur mosque here as mandated by the Supreme Court in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi verdict.

A mosque, a hospital, a research institute, a community kitchen and a library are to be constructed by the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) trust on five acres of land given by the Uttar Pradesh government. The construction was delayed for over two years due to pending clearance and matter of change of land use by the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA).

“We have approved the project of Ayodhya mosque in the board meeting held on Friday. The sanctioned maps will be handed over to the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) after few departmental formalities which are to be completed within a couple of days,” Gaurav Dayal, Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner, told PTI.

IICF secretary Athar Hussain said the trust will soon hold a meeting after all the clearances are made and finalise the plan for the construction of the mosque.

“We laid the foundation of the mosque on January 26, 2021. We chose that day because, on this day, India’s Constitution came into effect more than seven decades ago,” he said.

“The Dhannipur mosque will be bigger than Babri Masjid. It will not be modelled on the structure which once stood in Ayodhya,” Hussain told PTI.

In a historic judgment on November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court ordered the construction of a Ram temple at a disputed site in Ayodhya and asked the government to allocate five acres of land for the construction of the mosque at a prominent place in the district.

The IICF trust, constituted for the construction of the mosque, announced its plans to build a hospital, a community kitchen, a library and a research institute, along with the mosque.

Hussain said the upcoming hospital will serve humanity in the true spirit of Islam as taught by the Prophet 1,400 years ago.

“The hospital won’t be the usual concrete structure, but will be in sync with the architecture of the mosque, replete with calligraphy and Islamic symbols,” he said.

“While the hospital will treat the sick and infirm, the community kitchen will feed the hungry, blurring barriers of religion, caste and creed. The green belt at the site will create awareness on climate change and the research institute will study the contribution of Muslims in the freedom struggle and the legacy of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood which helped India attain independence,” the IICF secretary added.

Babri demolition: AIMIM slams Cong ad featuring PV Narasimha Rao

    [ad_1]

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Sunday called the inclusion of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s image in an advertisement of the Congress party’s plenary an indication of its ‘secularism’.

“The inclusion of PV Narasimha Rao says everything we need to know about Congress party’s “secularism”. As Prime Minister, Narasimha Rao played an essential role in the demolition of Babri Masjid. It should not be forgiven or forgotten, the party tweeted.

Even in 2020, when Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the ruling TRS gave a call for an state assembly resolution to give Bharat Ratna to the former PM, AIMIM MLAs boycotted the proceedings.

Narasimha Rao is often criticised for ‘not doing enough’ to stop the demolition of the Babri Masjid which took place on December 6, 1992, when he was the country’s Prime Minister.

The Babri Masjid was illegally demolished on December 6, 1992, by a large group of activists from the Vishva Hindu Parishad and other organisations. The 16th-century Babri Masjid in the Uttar Pradesh city of Ayodhya had been the site of a long-running socio-political dispute, and it was targeted after a political rally organised by Hindu nationalist organisations turned violent.
