‘Mann Ki Baat’ transformed country’s mindset, initiated mass movements on social causes: Report

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has transformed the country’s mindset and initiated mass movements towards various social causes such as cleanliness, women empowerment, yoga and protecting the environment, according to a BJP-linked think tank’s report.

Public Policy Research Centre (PPRC) directors Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, a senior BJP leader, and Sumeet Bhasin presented the report to party national president J P Nadda on Monday, the BJP said in a statement, a day after the 100th episode of the programme was broadcast.

The radio broadcast has “transformed the country’s mindset and inculcated a positive outlook amongst the people,” the report, titled “Mann Ki Baat Se Jan Ki Baat”, said.

    MS Education Academy

“Through powerful and inspiring messages coupled with a practice of open dialogue, Prime Minister Modi has reformed the mindset of people, helping tackle issues like drug-abuse and chronic exam-related stress amongst students, etc.,” it said.

It was through ‘Mann Ki Baat’ that “a sense of resilience and unity was maintained and sustained in the face of adversities brought by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic,” the report said.

It added that the programme has ensured the prime minister’s vision of ‘Sabka Sath and Sabka Vikas’ through ‘Sabka Prayas and Sabka Vishwas’.

“‘Mann Ki Baat has brought significant transformation in the Indian demographic, initiating mass movements towards various social causes ranging from ‘swachhata’, environment protection, promotion of ‘Make in India’ products like khadi, women empowerment to yoga, etc., showcasing India’s ‘Jan Shakti’,” the report said.

Many of these issues are linked with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it added.

The report claimed that the prime minister’s appeals during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme to promote khadi have resulted in manifold increase in its production (115 per cent) and sales (179 per cent) from 2013 to 2020, directly resulting in the empowerment of artisans and weavers involved in its production.

The increase in the production of khadi gave a “significant boost” to the income of artisans and weavers by 33 per cent and 10 per cent respectively, it added.

Through the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, the report said, the prime minister promoted the “Indian way of life”.

“The prime minister has celebrated India’s cultural richness and diversity, reinvigorating India’s ancient soul. The PM has celebrated India’s luminary figures, propagated the teachings and learnings of various ancient texts and different religions and festivals,” the report said.

He promoted tourism, illustrating the beauty of “incredible India”, and revived the tourism sector through people’s participation, it added.

The ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme has helped identify exam-related stress as a chronic problem, urging students to find their inner selves rather than succumbing to external and unhealthy pressure, the report said.

“This has transformational potential for the youth of the country,” it noted.

Through the monthly radio programme, the report said, the prime minister has sought to transform how the general public looks at specially-abled persons.

“PM Modi urged the nation to recognise the specially-abled population as ‘divyang’ due to their inherent divinity and considerable achievements, showcasing their strong will towards life,” it said.

The prime minister has motivated the youth through ‘Mann Ki Baat’ to become self-reliant and focus on skill development, and also promoted the start-up culture in the country along with a special emphasis on developing industry-related skills, the report said.

BJP president Nadda said the prime minister through ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has tied the country and the society together, and inspired and encouraged people with his “soulful dialogue” with them.

“‘Mann Ki Baat’ has become a medium to celebrate the collective spirit of the people of India and has shed light on their inspiring life journeys,” he said.

AAP Gujarat chief booked for ‘misleading’ tweet on ‘Mann Ki Baat’

    [ad_1]

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Crime Branch on Monday registered a case against Isudan Gadhvi, the Gujarat chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for his “misleading” tweet regarding the expenditure incurred on an episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

Gadhvi posted a tweet on April 29, a day ahead of the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat’, in which he stated, “Mann Ki Baat’s one-day cost is Rs 8.3 crore! Rs 830 crores of 100 episodes, our taxes were blown by simply doing Mann Ki Baat! Now is the limit! BJP workers need to wake up and protest about this! That’s what most people hear!”.

    Gadhvi later retracted the tweet.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Central government fact-checked the AAP leader’s claim and asserted it to be “false and without basis”.

The matter is still under investigation.

    Further details are awaited.

This comes after the Centre announced that a PIB unit will fake-check news against the government and take action against the perpetrators. However, the unit is yet to be formed.

New Delhi: Projection mapping shows have been held at 13 heritage sites across the country, including Red Fort and Gateway of India, to mark the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme “Mann ki Baat”, officials said on Sunday.

The programme was aired on Sunday morning.

On Saturday night, the 13 cultural sites, including ASI-protected monuments such as Mughal-era Red Fort in Delhi and Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh, Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan, Golconda Fort in Telangana, Navratnagarh Fort in Jharkhand, besides the Prime Minister’s Sanghralaya in Delhi were illuminated to mark the occasion.

    MS Education Academy

“To mark the completion of 100th episode of #MannKiBaat, @MinOfCultureGoI with @ASIGoI is celebrating the occasion in a momentous way through activities like projection mapping shows, photo op, message & audio booths at 13 different iconic monuments across the country,” said a tweet from the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’s official Twitter handle on Sunday.

It also shared pictures of the some of the sites taken during the shows held on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, a senior ASI official said the projection mapping will be done at these 13 sites again on Sunday.

However, later in the evening, another senior ASI official said the show was held only at the Prime Minister’s Sangrahalaya in Delhi, and not at ASI sites.

“The special show, which lasted for 20-25 minutes, was woven around the theme of nation-building and was people-centric. Each location highlighted the heritage and historical value of the site and the region where it was projected,” the Culture Ministry said in a statement on Sunday afternoon.

The 13 sites also included Sun Temple in Odisha, Vellore Fort in Tamil Nadu, Ramnagar Fort in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur, Rang Ghar in Assam, the Residency building in Lucknow, and Sun Temple in Modhera, Gujarat.

The projection mapping shows were open to the public free of cost, and the sites featured various activities and exhibits to make the evening more memorable.

Attendees could listen to pre-installed episodes of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, share their ideas on a message wall, and even take pictures at a specially designed photo booth, the ministry said.

Since its inception on October 3, 2014, “Mann Ki Baat” has been broadcast on the last Sunday of every month at 11 am on All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD). The show reflects the prime minister’s “conviction and desire to have an inclusionary and people-centric approach to governance”, the statement said.

  • There’s no politics in ‘Mann Ki Baat’, abusing PM Modi part of Cong DNA: Sitharaman

There’s no politics in ‘Mann Ki Baat’, abusing PM Modi part of Cong DNA: Sitharaman

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke like a “pradhan sevak” during the 100th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and there is no politics in the radio broadcast, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday, countering the Congress’ criticism of the programme.

Now if the Congress is “obsessed” with talking about the agenda set by its first family, it’s up to the party, she said.

Earlier in the day, the Congress took a swipe at Modi over his 100th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, saying there was much fanfare in the run-up to the episode but it was “maun ki baat (silence)” on critical issues such as the border dispute with China, stock manipulation allegations against the Adani Group, “increasing” economic inequalities and the wrestlers’ protest.

    MS Education Academy

Hitting back, Sitharaman said, “He (Modi) talks about everything. Now if the Congress is obsessed with talking about the agenda that the first family of the party sets, it’s up to the party.”

“There is no politics in Mann Ki Baat… There is positivity in the spirit of Mann ki Baat,” the finance minister told reporters after listening to the radio broadcast with BJP leaders and others in Preet Vihar here.

In the 100th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Sitharaman said, Modi spoke to the people like a ‘pradhan sevak’ and not a prime minister, and the common people also spoke confidently about the core issues.

“So, I am very much impacted, inspired and feeling humbled,” she said.

“Such a pradhan sevak is leading our country despite problems that arose due to the spread of COVID-19 in 2020 and the Russia-Ukraine (conflict) later. All of us are safe under his leadership and India is the fastest growing economy today,” the minister added.

On Congress leaders calling Modi names, Sitharaman said “abusing” the prime minister is “part of the Congress DNA”.

“But they never seem to realise that every time they abuse Prime Minister Modi, people recognise him much more for his positive and constructive work in building India. It doesn’t benefit them in any way or win them any brownie points but they still want to do it because they are full of hate,” she said.

“Despite Rahul Gandhi going around setting up ‘mohabbat ka dukan’, his own party’s president is spewing venom. He is talking about a poisonous snake. So, you understand where Rahul is going and where his party is. Rahul is talking about something that his party doesn’t believe in,” she added.

It is the “nature” of the Congress to abuse those it cannot defeat but people’s support is with Prime Minister Modi.

“The more they accuse the prime minister, the more people will bless him,” she added.

Through ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Sitharaman said, the prime minister has brought out the good in Indian citizens.
