    SRINAGAR: The State Taxes Department of Government of J&K UT has been awarded SKOCH Award 2023 in Silver category for its successful implementation of GST.

    On this occasion, Commissioner STD J&K Dr Rashmi Singh applauded the efforts of the department in ensuring successful implementation of GST. She said that winning SKOCH Award is a significant accomplishment and reflects the dedication and hard work of the the whole team of employees of the department in both divisions of UT. She further added that this shall serves as a source of inspiration for others who are working towards similar goals.

    During previous financial year, the department launched several initiatives to increase taxpayer awareness, including seminars, workshops, and outreach programs to educate taxpayers about their rights and responsibilities.

    The State Taxes Department also stepped up its efforts to crack down on tax evasion, including conducting stock checking, inspections and audit to identify and penalise tax evaders.

    Further, the department implemented a range of technological solutions, including the use of data analytics, BIFA, artificial intelligence, machine learning to automate tax administration processes and improve the efficiency of the tax system.

    The Commissioner State Taxes Department J&K Dr Rashmi Singh (IAS) conducted various outreach programmes, engaged with taxpayers, understood their concerns, thereby helping build trust and improve communication between the State Taxes Department and the people it serves.

    This resulted in awareness and understanding of tax laws and regulations. Dr. Rashmi Singh time and again reiterated that, “interaction with taxpayers offers clear and accessible information about tax requirements and procedures, thereby helping ensure that taxpayers are able to comply with the law and avoid potential penalties. At the same time, this helps in identifying areas where the tax system may need improvement or where there may be opportunities to make the process more efficient and user-friendly.”

    The SKOCH Award, instituted in 2003, recognizes excellence in governance, inclusive growth, and other social and economic initiatives across India. The award recognizes projects and initiatives that have made a significant impact in improving the lives of people in the country.

    SRINAGAR: Agency for Science, Technology, and Research, Singapore is offering a merit-based fully funded scholarship to outstanding international PhD students.

    Candidates with a passion for research, with good English writing and speaking skills can apply. Applicants applying for PhD in Science and Engineering are only eligible for this scholarship.

    Students can pursue PhD in Science and Technology under this scholarship at top institutes in Singapore. However, students must apply for a full-time research programme as this scholarship does not support part-time programmes.

    The duration of the scholarship is four years.

    The required documents include an identification card or passport, academic transcripts of masters, and two recommendation reports.

    The scholarship will cover all costs related to studying abroad. A monthly stipend of 2,000 USD ( 1, 63,634 INR) which will increase to 2,200 USD  (1,79,997 INR), will be provided to the candidates after passing the Qualification.

    Eligible candidates need to apply two weeks before the deadline. The deadline for the scholarship is 1 June 2023.

    Hyderabad: The freshly launched Telangana Secretariat complex has been conferred with the prestigious Indian Green Building Council Award.

    The members of the IGBC called on roads and buildings minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy at the Secretariat on Monday and presented the award to him.

    Prashanth Reddy credited the state government for constructing the Secretariat with state of art facilities and being environmentally friendly.

    Delighted over receiving the award, Prashanth Reddy said that it was chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s vision that has successfully increased the green cover in Telangana by 7.7 percent since the state formation.

    “Telangana government further plans to install solar power panels at the Secretariat in order to save electricity and encourage renewable energy,” said Prashanth Reddy.

    SRINAGAR: J&K Bank today received an award from Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) for its outstanding contribution towards housing sector of the country under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) – Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) through various innovative initiatives.

    The Bank’s General Manager (C&CB) Narjay Gupta received the award at the hands of Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manoj Joshi in presence of Chairman & Managing Director (HUDCO) Kuldip Narayan, Bank’s Zonal Head (Delhi) Rakesh Magotra, HUDCO’s board of directors and other dignitaries during HUDCO’s 53rd Foundation Day Celebrations held today in New Delhi.

    The function was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Petroleum & Natural Gas Hardeep S. Puri.

    Commenting upon the felicitation, MD & CEO, Baldev Prakash said, “It is an honour for the entire J&K Bank Family to be felicitated at such a prestigious national platform for our contribution towards country’s housing sector under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY)-U that envisaged ease-of-living through a pucca house to all urban dwellers.”
