  • Proud Boys leader found guilty of seditious conspiracy for driving Jan. 6 attack

Proud Boys leader found guilty of seditious conspiracy for driving Jan. 6 attack

    [ad_1]

A jury on Thursday convicted Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys, and three allies of a seditious conspiracy to derail the transfer of power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden, a historic verdict following the most significant trial to emerge from the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Jurors also convicted the four men — who also include Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs and Zachary Rehl — of conspiring to obstruct Congress’ proceedings on Jan. 6 and destroying government property. The jury deadlocked on seditious conspiracy against a fifth defendant, Dominic Pezzola, but convicted him of obstructing Congress’ Jan. 6 proceedings as well as several other felony charges.

Prosecutors cast Tarrio and the Proud Boys leaders as the most significant drivers of the Jan. 6 attack, assembling a “fighting force” that arrived at the Capitol even while Trump addressed a crowd of supporters near the White House. Members of the group were present for and involved in multiple breaches of police lines. They later celebrated their role in the breach.

US: Ransomware attack infects Dallas servers down, police website down

    [ad_1]

Texas: US city of Dallas is working to recover from a ransomware attack that infected computer servers, which affected the city’s services, including its police department.

Due to the attack has taken the Dallas Police Department website has gone offline but appears so far to have limited impact on city services for residents, the city said in a statement on Wednesday according to CNN.

City officials confirmed that a number of servers have been compromised with ransomware.

Officials are working to contain the spread of malicious software from city computer systems and to restore any affected services, according to CNN.

“The Dallas Police Department is being affected by an outage in the city,” Kristin Lowman, a public information officer for the department, told CNN in an email. She did not respond to a question on how the hack is affecting the Dallas Police Department.

On Wednesday afternoon, there were reports of computer outages or connectivity issues at other Dallas government agencies.

According to CNN, a computer system that processes records for the Dallas Court and Detention Services Department has been down since 6 am local time on Wednesday.

A person who answered CNN’s phone at the department on Wednesday afternoon, said: “Our system went completely down so there’s not much we can see in terms of looking up people’s citations and traffic tickets.” He added that they were unsure what caused the outage.

CNN has requested comment from the FBI and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency on the Dallas hack.

  • We did not attack Putin, says Zelensky

We did not attack Putin, says Zelensky

    [ad_1]

Kiev: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied that his country carried out an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin, which Russia says was an attempt on President Vladimir Putin’s life.

Zelensky, who is currently on a trip to Finland, told reporters in Helsinki late Wednesday night: “We are not attacking either Putin or Moscow; we are fighting on our own territory, defending our villages and towns. We don’t even have enough weapons to do that… That’s why we didn’t attack Putin; we’ll leave that to the (international) tribunal.”

The President further stressed that Russia has had no victories at the front and that Putin can no longer motivate Russian society and send soldiers to war for no reason, reports Ukrayinska Pravda.

    MS Education Academy

“So it is in his (Putin) interest to accuse Ukraine of committing some crimes. He needs to do something drastic: either ‘assassination attempts’, drones, or some ‘geese that bombed them’. They will come up with something or other every day.

“But the solution is simple: no need to intimidate anyone, no need to use weapons; you need to leave our territory,” he added.

On Wednesday evening, the Kremlin press service said that Ukrainian drones had “attempted to strike” at the residence of Putin.

The Kremlin called the so-called attack a “planned terrorist action” and an “assassination attempt on the Russian President”.

In response, Serhii Nykyforov, spokesman for President Zelensky, said that Ukraine had no information about the attack on the Kremlin.

“What happened in Moscow was clearly a Russian escalation of the situation,” he added.

Unverified footage circulating online showed smoke rising over the Kremlin, reports the BBC.

A second video shows a small explosion above the site’s Senate building, while two men appear to clamber up the dome.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian strikes on Ukraine’s southern Kherson region killed 21 people.

According to Zelensky, the shelling had hit “a railway station and a crossing, a house, a hardware store, a grocery supermarket and a gas station”.

The victims included supermarket customers and employees of an energy company who were performing repairs, officials said.

Video footage emerges of Ukrainian drone attack on Kremlin

    [ad_1]

Moscow: Purported footage of a Ukrainian drone strike targeting the Kremlin on Tuesday night has surfaced on a local Telegram channel, media reports said.

The video shows plumes of white smoke rising into the night sky over the Grand Kremlin Palace, a 19th century building serving as the official working residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin, RT reported.

No sound can be heard in the video but witnesses claimed on Telegram that they heard at least one loud blast resembling “thunder rumbling”.

People on the Kremlin embankment also reportedly saw sparks rising into the sky over the Kremlin wall. An unverified video circulating on social media also shows a fire on the roof of the Senate Palace, the President’s second working residence in the Kremlin. Flames can be seen rising near the top of the roof.

Another unverified video published on Telegram purported to show the moment one of the drones struck the Senate Palace. The footage shows the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) approaching the building at a low altitude, before blowing up right over its dome. The blast appeared not to have dealt any significant damage to the building, as even the flagstaff with the presidential banner remained in place after the attack, RT reported.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian presidential office reported the attack, calling it a “planned terrorist act” targeting Putin’s residence. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that the President was elsewhere at the time and his schedule is unaffected.

Russia reserves the right to retaliate “anywhere and anytime it deems necessary” in response to the drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence, the Kremlin has said, RT reported.

Officials said two Ukrainian drones attempted to strike the Kremlin early on Wednesday morning, but the raid was thwarted.
