Ashok Gehlot asks BJP: Aren’t we Hindus?

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday accused the BJP of linking the voting preference of people with Hinduism and asked whether those who don’t vote for the party are not Hindus.

“You (BJP) come up with one issue or the other to provoke people in the name of religion, caste. All are Hindus. Aren’t we Hindus? Where is it written that the one who votes for the BJP is a Hindu?” Gehlot asked.

Speaking at the inauguration of Haldighati Youth Festival at Nathdwara in Rajsamand district, Gehlot appealed to the youth to decide whether they want development or just issues that provoke people.

“In a democracy, some vote for the BJP, some don’t. Some vote for the Congress, some don’t,” he said.

“Where did they get this definition that those who do not vote (for the BJP) are not Hindus? It is not in the interest of the country,” Gehlot said.

Alleging that a BJP government will stop the schemes run by the current government in Rajasthan, Gehlot said, “I would like to tell the youth, you decide whether you want development, whether you want a vision or (not).”

He also told the youth that “knowledge is power”.

He said Rajasthan today ranks first in the country in the IT sector.

BJP’s ‘Vishkanya’ remark for Sonia shows the rot in politics: Ashok Gehlot

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday slammed a Karnataka BJP leader for calling former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi a ‘Vishkanya,’ saying the use of the term was a reflection of the vitiated political discourse in the country.

“Remarks made by a Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Karnataka against Sonia Gandhi reflect the rot in politics. Sonia Gandhi is respected across the country, by both ruling and the opposition parties,” Gehlot told reporters in Hanumangarh.

“With such lowly and despicable statements about her, I think a new form of BJP is emerging,” he said .

    MS Education Academy

During an interaction with the media in poll-bound Karnataka, BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal Thursday night called Sonia Gandhi a ‘Vishkanya,’ apparently responding to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s comparison of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a ‘poisonous snake.’

Gehlot in his turn accused the BJP of distorting its opponents’ remarks in order to mislead the public.

“I think their countdown is starting from Karnataka. If we make any comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he distorts it and presents it in front of the public to win the election, we have seen that many times,” he said.

All the same, the Congress leader said he will personally write a letter to Modi and ask him to take action against Yatnal.

He said if the PM or Karnataka CM don’t take action then it will be clear they share the opinion of the BJP MLA.

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday promised there would be no shortage of resources to run the public welfare schemes and protect the common man against inflation.

Gehlot was addressing the people who had come to an inflation relief camp set up in Ganeshgarh of Sriganganagar.

During his address, he also interacted with the beneficiaries and informed them about the state public schemes.

    MS Education Academy

He said that with an initiative like Chief Minister Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme, which freed the common man from the worry of expensive treatment, Rajasthan has emerged as a leading state in the field of health.

Gehlot said 1.35 crore women of Rajasthan will be given smartphones in a phased manner with three years of internet data free of cost. In the first phase, starting from Raksha Bandhan this year, 40 lakh women will be given these phones.

Former Minister of State for Education and Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra said that the government has fulfilled about 92 per cent of its budget announcements.

Rajasthan govt committed to development not ‘danga’, says Ashok Gehlot’s office

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s Officer on Special Duty on Saturday said the Congress government in the state stands for development, dedication, and dialogue and not ‘danga’ and ‘durvyavahar’ as alleged by Union Minister Amit Shah.

OSD Lokesh Sharma said this in response to Shah’s allegations earlier in the day, in which he called the Congress government in the state to be marred with riots, and oppression of women and Dalits.

“AmitShah ji, You have said correctly. Rajasthan is a 3D government. D Development, D- Dedication, D- Dialogue,” Sharma said in a tweet.

    MS Education Academy

He said the Rajasthan government is dedicated to every individual. Be it regarding budget, health, or any social security scheme, every major decision is taken through dialogue, he added.

“Amit Shah must be aware that Vasundhara Raje did not even communicate with his ministers and MLAs whereas Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot directly interacts with the public,” Sharma said.

Addressing party workers at a Booth Maha Sammelan in Bharatpur district earlier in the day, Shah said there is a “a 3-D government in Rajasthan and three Ds stands for ‘dange’ (riots), ‘durvyavahar’ (ill-treatment) with women and ‘Dalit’ atrocities.”

  • Ashok Gehlot-Vasundhara Raje are good friends, says Kejriwal in Jaipur

Ashok Gehlot-Vasundhara Raje are good friends, says Kejriwal in Jaipur

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: In what could be seen as the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) electoral entry into Rajasthan, a Tiranga Yatra was taken out in Jaipur in which AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also participated.

At a public meeting held at Ajmeri Gate after the Tiranga Yatra, Kejriwal said that he had heard that Vasundhara Raje and Ashok Gehlot share a strong friendship. When Gehlot faces a crisis, Vasundhara makes the entire party stand by him. Similarly, when the BJP was taking action against Raje, Gehlot made the Congress stand by her.

He said that since independence till date, the Congress has ruled Rajasthan for 48 years and the BJP for 18 years. Now the BJP-Congress cannot say that they did not get a chance. The condition of Rajasthan is pathetic. Farmers are committing suicide, papers are getting leaked, war widows are being insulted. From 1993 till now, you have given a chance to the BJP and the Congress alternately and both have looted Rajasthan alternately, he said.

Kejriwal stated that “there is a mutual setting between the Congress and the BJP. They accuse each other of scams during elections. After the elections, no action is taken against a single person. Our setting is for the public. We will expose the scams of both,” he added.

Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was sent to jail because he is teaching poor children for free. The work that we did in Delhi is now being done in Punjab. We gave 27,000 government jobs in one year. Contract workers were regularised. Do you want this to happen in Rajasthan, he asked.

Punjab CM Mann said that God has sent a broom to sweep away the Congress and the BJP. The people of Rajasthan are also ready to sweep. Now the third option has come to Rajasthan, he announced, indicating the AAP to be the third choice after the Congress and the BJP in the state.

Maan said that if you want to change your luck, then change the button in the EVM. At the same time, it will work to change the fate of your children. Double corruption is happening due to double engine (government). That’s why there is a need to stop the double engine. There should be a discussion on the broom (AAP poll symbol) and Kejriwal in every house, he added.

  • Opposition misguiding war widows on scheme for martyrs’ families: Ashok Gehlot

Opposition misguiding war widows on scheme for martyrs’ families: Ashok Gehlot

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday defended the benefits reserved for the martyrs’ families under a state scheme saying that the BJP leaders are misguiding the people and maligning the image of Rajasthan.

“The kind of package given by Rajasthan government to the war widows, be it of the Pulwama, Balakot, or Kargil, doesn’t exist anywhere in the country. I had brought the package when I was chief minister around 25 years back,” Gehlot told reporters after attending a programme.

He said that under the package the martyrs’ families are allotted land and housing, schools are named after martyrs, and jobs are kept reserved for their children.

The Chief Minister’s remarks came on the heels of a protest being waged by three war widows, who have been demanding a change in rules so that their relatives and not just children can get government jobs on compassionate grounds.

“Why are they asking for jobs after four years? The incident happened in 2019 but there was no demand then and now suddenly after four years the issue is raised. They (BJP leaders) are misguiding the people and maligning the image of Rajasthan,” Gehlot on Sunday said.

“If they (BJP leaders) continue to act in such a manner, then people will give them a befitting reply. We are giving a good package to martyrs’ families. How can they ask for jobs for someone else other than the children,” he said.

The CM said that he had met the war widows on Saturday who said they want jobs to be reserved for their children.

  • Maha ex-CM Ashok Chavan claims being ‘watched’, Shinde orders police probe

Maha ex-CM Ashok Chavan claims being ‘watched’, Shinde orders police probe

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said that he has directed state Director General of Police to probe complaints submitted by former CM Ashok Chavan that he is under the “surveillance” of some elements in Mumbai and Nanded.

“I have spoken with Chavan and also with the DGP. I have given instructions to carry out a detailed investigation into the issues raised by Chavan,” Shinde said.

Chavan made a shocking claim that he was allegedly shadowed and under the “watch” of some persons and how someone had forged his letterhead as the PWD Minister of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

He said that the letter, dated May 5, 2022 was written to the then CM Uddhav Thackeray with the intent to create an impression that he was working against the Maratha community.

“I am under the watch of a few people who are following me everywherea where I go, whom I meet and are warning that I should meet the same fate as the late Vinayak Mete,” Chavan told media persons in Nanded and Pune in the past two days.

The reference was to the Maratha leader and Shiv Sangram chief Mete, who was killed in a road accident on August 14, 2022 on the Mumbai Pune Expressway. After his family raised suspicions over his death, three days later, Shinde ordered a CID probe into the tragedy.

Chavan said that he has filed a complaint on the forged letter with Nanded’s Additional Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar pointing out how the text of an earlier letter was replaced without touching the letterhead and signature to convey a misleading narrative.

Rushing to Chavan’s support, state Congress President Nana Patole demanded to know whether the state government is conspiring to eliminate Opposition party leaders.

“Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut has given a complaint of a contract to kill him. Now a former CM Chavan is under surveillance and has spoken of plans to finish him. Why is an ex-CM of the state being trailed and what is the motive,” demanded Patole.

Besides, he pointed out the instance of the attacks on Sena-UBT leader Aditya Thackeray’s vehicle in Aurangabad, the assault on Congress MLA Dr. Pragya R. Satav, and other similar cases involving opposition parties leaders in the past 7 months, and the recent threats issued to Nationalist Congress Party leader Dr. Jitendra Awhad and his family.

Patole said that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated and if the people in power are working to eliminate the Opposition, then it is a disgrace for democracy.

He urged the state government to immediately look into all these cases and take appropriate action against the culprits.

PM Modi takes dig at Ashok Gehlot over Budget speech goof-up

    [ad_1]

Dausa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took a dig at Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for reading portions from the state’s last year Budget speech while presenting the Budget for 2023-24, saying Congress governments’ “plans and announcements remained just on paper”.

The prime minister was addressing a rally here after inaugurating a stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

In his address during the rally, Modi also accused the Congress government in the state of lacking vision and hindering the state’s development and said a stable and growth-oriented government is needed Rajasthan to bring stability and to establish the rule of law.

Modi also referred to Gehlot’s Budget speech gaffe, saying what happened was being discussed all around.

“Anybody can make a mistake, but this shows the Congress has neither vision nor gravitas (wajan) and its plans and announcements remained just on paper,” Modi said.

While presenting the Budget for 2023-24 on Friday, Gehlot, who also holds the finance portfolio, mistakenly started reading portions from his last year’s Budget speech, leading to an uproar in the House. The uproar ended after Gehlot apologised.

Modi said Rajasthan would have progressed better if it had the double-engine government of the BJP, referring to the possibility of his party being in power both at the Centre and in the state

Assembly elections are due this year-end in the Congress-run state.

  • Congress’ 2018 return in Rajasthan because of my previous work: Ashok Gehlot

Congress’ 2018 return in Rajasthan because of my previous work: Ashok Gehlot

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: In an apparent rebuttal to his former deputy, Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said the Congress returned to power in 2018 because of the work done by him in his previous dispensation.

As he said this, he set the target of winning 156 seats in the assembly election due later this year.

Pilot, who has been locked in a power tussle with Gehlot for long, had recently said the return of Congress to power was due to the struggle of the party leaders and workers from 2013 to 2018, when he was the PCC chief.

In one of the public programmes, Pilot also spoke about the need for the older lot to make way for the younger generation of leaders.

Pilot has repeatedly said that the number of Congress MLAs, which had been reduced to 21 in 2013, was shot up only after the party high command made him the Pradesh Congress Committee chief in the state.

Gehlot, without naming Pilot, said the 2013 rout was largely because of the ‘Modi wave’ but within six months of the BJP government in state, people had realised their mistake.

“So an atmosphere was created and that was a big reason for the Congress to come back. Other reasons are always there, such as the party workers’ struggle on the streets. But the main reason was that it was in the mind of people that they had made a mistake by changing the government in 2013,” he told reporters after a state Reupulic Day function at Sawai Man Singh Stadium here.

Gehlot said that the BJP has no issues to rake up against his government and there is no anti-incumbency feeling among the people, who are happy with its schemes and programmes.

He said that state schemes such as Chiranjeevi Health Insurance are being talked about across the country, and employees are happy with the revival of the Old Pension Scheme.

“Our path is clear. When our government came in 1998, there were 156 seats, I was the PCC chief then. I would like to move ahead with ‘Mission 156’. We have already started work in that direction,” he said.

Gehlot said his MLAs supported him and helped him tide over the infight during the political crisis in 2020 that saved his government.

He said he fought hard to save his government and to serve people, and will continue to do so till his “last breath.”

“When I speak, I speak after thinking, I do not speak anything without thinking. It is a God’s gift to me that when I speak, the voice of my heart comes on my tongue,” he said.

“This time there is no resentment among the public, no displeasure with the government, nor is there the Modi wave which was there earlier. I hope people will support me,” he said.

On the Opposition, he said that the BJP has mastered the art of “horse trading” and toppling governments, which it has done in other states, but they failed in Rajasthan because of support of the MLAs and the public to him.

The CM said the state BJP has no real issues to target his government with and this is why it has been reprimanded by the high command.

Gehlot said that he and Rajasthan are on the target of BJP and this is the reson BJP chief JP Nadda and other leaders repeatedly come to Rajasthan.
