BJP MP Arvind condemns party prez Sanjay’s comments on Kavitha

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: BJP Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind condemned his own party president Bandi Sanjay’s derogatory remarks on BRS MLC K Kavitha, which triggered massive protests across the state.

“Being the State president of a national party, he should have behaved more responsibly. I do not support his actions. Whatever he has said is in his individual capacity. The party has nothing to do with it. He has to come out clean on the issue,” he said.

Arvind said Sanjay should have acted responsibly while making comments. “if he corrects himself, it will be better for him. He has created the mess and he himself has to come out of it, Arvind said.

When he was told that some BJP leaders had pointed out that Sanjay’s remarks were part of a common ‘proverb’ used in Telangana, Arvind said there were a lot of proverbs which people of Telangana use frequently, but one should use those carefully without hurting sentiments and dignity.

“He cannot escape by saying that it is a common proverb,” he said. Arvind’s comments were surprising given that he is Kavitha’s main opponent in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency.

Arvind defeated Kavitha in the 2019 Lok Sabha election after promising turmeric farmers that he would set up a board for them . The latter had won the seat in the 2014 polls.

Arvind, who like many other BJP leaders has not been happy with the functioning style and unapologetic behaviour of Sanjay, also said the party president post was not a ‘power centre’ but only a coordination centre to carry out the instructions of the party high command

Arvind Kejriwal begins day-long meditation to ‘pray for country’

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: On the occasion of Holi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal began a seven-hour-long meditation from 10 am on Wednesday.

Taking to Twitter, AAP shared pictures of Kejriwal meditating and said, “Today Kejriwal ji will pray for the country.”

Prior to starting meditation, Kejriwal paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.

On Tuesday, Kejriwal said that those doing good work are being arrested.

Vipassana is said to be one of India’s oldest meditation practices.

The Delhi Chief Minister on Tuesday announced that he will meditate today and not celebrate Holi in the wake of the arrests of party leaders Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia.

In a video message, the Delhi Chief Minister said that the country’s situation is worrying and therefore he will pray for the country.
Kejriwal also said that Sisodia and Jain are in jail but no action has been taken against Adani.

“A country where the Prime Minister jails people who provide good education and good health facilities to people and supports those who rob the country, it is worrying. I will meditate and pray for the country. If you also think what Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing is wrong and you, too, are worried about the country, then I urge you, after celebrating Holi, please take out time to pray for the country,” he added.

The Chief Minister said he was not worried about Jain and Sisodia being in jail.

“They are brave and are ready to sacrifice their lives for the country. But the sorry state of affairs in the country worries me,” he said.

Satyendar Jain was arrested in May last year and Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.

  • SC stays trial proceedings in UP against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

SC stays trial proceedings in UP against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday in an interim order stayed the trial proceedings against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a case registered against him in 2014 in Uttar Pradesh during the election campaign.

A bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna stayed the trial proceedings and also issued notice on Kejriwal’s petition. The matter will be heard after five weeks.

During the election campaign in 2014, Kejriwal had allegedly said that “those who believe in ‘Khuda’ won’t be pardoned by ‘Khuda’ if they vote for BJP”.

Kejriwal approached the Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court order which rejected his plea for discharge from the case.

The High Court while dismissing Kejriwal’s plea had said, “It appeared that Kejriwal is threatening the voters in the name of ‘Khuda’ knowing fully well that if he uses the term ‘Khuda’, some set of voters belonging to different religions might have severely been influenced.”

Earlier, Sultanpur Court had dismissed his discharge application.

During the case hearing today, the bench expressed disapproval of the statement made by Kejriwal and said, “Why are you bringing God? In a secular country, leave God alone. God doesn’t need anyone’s protection, he can take care of himself.”

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for Arvind Kejriwal said, “Sometimes during political campaigning, unintentional things are said.”

“There are no allegations of any law and order problems or communal disharmony happening after the speech,” Singhvi added.

Singhvi while urging that the proceedings against Kejriwal be stayed said, “Now that I am the Chief Minister, I will be called to UP every time. The discharge has been dismissed, the whole object is to call me and arrest me.”

Hyderabad: BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind from Nizamabad on Monday criticised the Telangana government for not taking adequate measures to nullify the loss suffered by turmeric farmers due to excessive rain in the state.

Questioning the government, Arvind wrote a letter to the Center seeking either incentives or support to help the turmeric farmers, and wanted to know if the state government would send the proposals for sanctions in the next financial year.
