Jaipur: The Rajasthan Police has arrested two of the eight accused wanted in the alleged abduction and murder of two Muslim men from Bharatpur in Rajasthan by suspected cow vigilantes in Haryana, an official said on Friday.

Inspector General of Police (Bharatpur) Gaurav Srivastava said that the accused Monu Rana alias Narendra and Gogi alias Monu were detained from an isolated hilly area in Dehradun.

Nasir (25) and Junaid alias Juna (35), both residents of Ghatmeeka village in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, were allegedly abducted by cow vigilantes on February 15.

Their bodies were found inside a burnt car in Loharu in Bhiwani in Haryana on the morning of February 16.

During the initial interrogation, both the accused revealed that Junaid and Nasir were abducted on suspicion of cow smuggling. They were badly thrashed and when they failed to fetch any information regarding the smuggling from them, they took them to a local police station in Haryana but the policemen refused to take action seeing the condition they were in, the IG said.

“When Haryana police refused to take action against the duo seeing their condition, the accused took Nasir and Junaid and murdered them. The bodies were put in a vehicle and it was burnt,” he said.

On February 17, one of the accused Rinku Saini was arrested and based on his disclosure and other evidence collected by the police, eight others were identified and teams were sent to several states in search of them.

The other six accused, each carrying a cash reward of Rs 10,000 each, are still absconding and being searched.

Apart from them, the police have issued notices to several other suspects including office bearers and members of Haryana Gau Raksha Dal but no one has turned up.

However, the arrest of the two accused will expedite the investigation of the case, IG Srivastava said.

On the involvement of cow vigilante Monu Manesar, the IG said that he was on the suspect list and his role will become clear after the questioning of Monu Rana and Gogi.

The officer said that several teams of the Rajasthan police camped in different districts undercover in search of the accused.

The accused were brought to Bharatpur and placed under arrest on Thursday night under sections 302 (murder), 365 (abduction), 367 (abduction to subject a person to grievous hurt), 368 (wrongful confinement), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence) and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) and 143 (being a member of an unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code.

They were produced before a local court where the magistrate remanded them to police custody for 10 days.

San Francisco Board President Aaron Peskin announced the suspect’s arrest in Emeryville, a San Francisco suburb.

Police found Lee with stab wounds in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco at 2:30 a.m. April 4. He died at a hospital.

Lee is known for creating the widely used mobile payment service Cash App while working as chief technology officer of the payment company Square, now known as Block. He was the chief product officer for the cryptocurrency firm MobileCoin at the time of his death.

On his LinkedIn profile, Momeni describes himself as an “IT Consultant/Entrepreneur” as well as “owner” at a company called Expand IT.

It was not immediately clear whether Momeni has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

“I hope today’s arrest can begin a process of healing and closure for all those touched by this tragedy,” Matt Dorsey, another San Francisco supervisor, tweeted Thursday morning.

Prominent tech leaders took to social media to mourn Lee’s death and blame San Francisco for what they call the city’s lax attitude toward crime. Scott and Jenkins pushed back against that narrative on Thursday, with the prosecutor specifically naming tech billionaire Elon Musk for commenting on the case.

“This doesn’t have to do with San Francisco, this has to do with human nature,” Scott said.

Mission Local first reported Momeni’s arrest.

Pakistan: Imran’s security chief arrested on ‘money-laundering’ charges

    [ad_1]

Islamabad: Pakistans Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has confirmed arresting Iftikhar Rasool Ghumman, who is the security in-charge of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a “money-laundering case”, media reports said on Thursday.

The Anti-Money Laundering Cell (AMLC) of the agency busted an internally active racket involved in the illegal business of money-laundering based out of Lahore and arrested two members of the gang, the FIA said, The News reported.

According to the FIA officials, Ghumman was running a fake international money-laundering network along with Qaisar Mushtaq and Asim Hussain, the report said.

The officials said the entire network has been exposed and the people engaged in money laundering through ‘hundi’ and ‘hawala’ have been rounded up, adding that the racket was involved in transferring billions of rupees to different countries through illegal ways.

They added that the racket was using more than 40 fake companies for transferring money to other countries.

Rejecting the FIA allegations, sources in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said Ghumman is a credible party leader who ran established international business in different countries, and that he was authorised to take care of the imports and exports on behalf of the party, The News reported.

Condemning the arrest, PTI chief Imran Khan alleged that people close to him are being harassed, abducted and tortured.

In a series of tweets, Khan said: “Today, my security in-charge Iftikhar Ghumman has been abducted. This is all part of the London Plan where Nawaz Sharif was given assurances that PTI would be crushed.”

“So now people close to me, along with my leadership, are being harassed, abducted, tortured and confronted with sham cases across Pakistan in total violation of the Constitution and rule of law,” the former premier added.

  • Hyderabad: Man arrested for waving Godse’s photo at Ram Navami rally

Hyderabad: Man arrested for waving Godse’s photo at Ram Navami rally

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Shahinayathgunj police here arrested the man who carried the picture of Gandhiji’s killer, Nathuram Godse, during the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra (rally) on March 30. The accused has been identified as Chinta Hema Kumar, 21, a resident of Siddiqnagar in Gachibowli.

According to the police, Kumar carried the photograph of Nathuram, who shot Mahatma Gandhi to dead in public in 1948. A video clip of Kumar holding the photograph and marching in the procession had gone viral and drew wide criticism on social media. The police booked a case under 504 of IPC after the incident and arrested him.

Kumar was produced before a local magistrate and remanded.

In the Ram Navami rally in Hyderabad, suspended Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh also joined the main procession when it passed via Mangalhat. It was there that the portrait of Godse appeared. People who joined Singh’s fringe rally waved photos of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin.

The annual Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra here has become a show of strength for Hindutva groups to flex. The procession has also become a launchpad for Hindutva mascot and suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh to release new inflammatory ‘songs’ every year. In 2022, he sang a song degenerating Muslims and threatened to “kick” them out of India if they “don’t chant Ram’s name”. This year was no different.

Raja Singh as a practice has been singing songs and releasing them during the Sri Rama Navami festival each year. One of latest songs, ‘Baap Tu Baap Rahega’, was clearly a dig at the ruling government (or even the cops) for arresting him last year and putting him in the jail under the PD Act after he released a video passing derogatory comments against Prophet Muhammad. He did that in retaliation against the state got allowing comic Munawar Faurqui to hold a show.

The MLA released a few more songs at his mega saffron rally, which were officially uploaded on some Youtube Channels and played during the Shobha Yatra procession. The lyrics this year also mention his PD Act detention following registration of a series of cases for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed in a video and also old cases booked against him for delivering hate speeches. The lyrics goes ‘Jail Ka Taala Tuth Gaya, Baap Tumhara Choot Gaya’.

The song is of 5:10 minutes duration. People who joined Singh’s Hindutva rally waved photos of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin, now a beloved Hindutva figure. Raja Singh was eventually booked by the police in different cases after the Ram Navami rally.

  • Agra: 4 Hindutva workers arrested for implicating Muslims in ‘cow slaughter’

Agra: 4 Hindutva workers arrested for implicating Muslims in ‘cow slaughter’

    [ad_1]

After a police investigation found that four Muslim youngsters were falsely accused of cow slaughter on Ram Navami, Agra police arrested four Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) workers for filing a fake complaint.

The police said that the ABHM members conspired with the rivals of the four wrongfully accused youngsters, and the entire plan was concocted to settle scores.

Among the arrested ABHM workers is Sanjay Jat, who claims to be the organisation’s spokesperson. He has previously grabbed local headlines for making divisive and communally heated utterances. The four ABHM activists have been charged under the Indian Penal Code section 120B (criminal conspiracy).

    MS Education Academy

“Four ABHM activists and office bearers — Jitendra Kushwaha, Sanjay Jat, Brajesh Bhadoria, and Saurabh Sharma — have been arrested for hatching a conspiracy on the sensitive occasion of Ram Navami,” RK Singh, the additional commissioner of police (ACP), stated on Wednesday.

In addition to the four ABHM members, authorities have arrested three rivals of the four innocent youngsters for being active participants in the plan. “Seven people have been arrested in this case so far. One of them surrendered himself,” ACP Singh stated.

On March 30, Jitendra Kushwaha, an ABHM office bearer, filed an FIR at Agra’s Itimad-ud-Duala police station against four Muslim teenagers, stating that they butchered a cow on Ram Navami. Jitendra said that he and other ABHM members hurried to the scene, but the ‘accused had gone by then’.

CCTV evidence, however, proved that the four youngsters accused of cow slaughter were not present on the scene on the day in question, and the phoney report was submitted out of rivalry. Shanu (alias Illi), Imran Qureshi, four ABHM members, and three others reportedly plotted the plot.

Shanu and Imran both reportedly have a criminal history. They face half-dozen charges in several cases. Previously, Nakeem, one of the four youngsters framed by the accused group, filed a complaint against Shanu and Imran. The two were detained when Nakeem, an Agra Nagar Nigam employee, filed a complaint. This is why the accused couple harboured resentment towards him and the other three and plotted with ABHM personnel to frame them in a bogus case, the police said.
