Telangana: Sharmila arrested for inappropriate remarks against BRS MLA

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Police on Sunday arrested YSR Telangana Party president Y.S. Sharmila for making inappropriate remarks against a legislator of ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested by the police in Mahabubabad town during her ongoing padayatra.

Police arrested her from her night halt camp and took her to Hyderabad to prevent any law and order problems in the town.

She had made some objectionable remarks against B. Shankar Naik, the MLA from Mahabubabad during a public meeting in the town on Saturday evening.

A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 504A (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and section 3 (1) R of Scheduled Castes Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against Sharmila at Mahabubabad town police station on a complaint by a local BRS leader.

Sharmila had alleged that the MLA was involved in corruption and land encroachments and had made certain comments against him.

BRS workers also staged a protest over the YSRTP leader’s ‘inappropriate remarks’ on the MLA in the district.

After a break of more than two months, Sharmila had resumed her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra early this month.

She resumed the padayatra from the place where it was stopped in November last year.

The BRS workers had allegedly set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles in Warangal district on November 28. Later, police arrested Sharmila as she refused to call off the padayatra in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila was later shifted to Hyderabad. The next day, she was arrested again amid high drama while leading a protest march towards the chief minister’s official residence. She was driving a car damaged in the attack and wanted to stage a protest in front of the chief minister’s residence. The police, however, stopped her enroute. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

The padayatra, however, could not resume as the police had not given the permission.

The YSRTP approached Telangana High Court, which asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

  • 21 arrested in 18 incidents of poll violence in Tripura

21 arrested in 18 incidents of poll violence in Tripura

    [ad_1]

Agartala: At least 21 people were arrested in 18 incidents of poll violence in Tripura since Thursday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinakarrao said.

The state recorded 89.95 per cent voter turnout in the election held on Thursday, he said.

“18 incidents of violence were reported since February 16, and accordingly FIRs were lodged by the police. A total of 21 persons were arrested while notices were served to over 150 persons for their alleged involvement in the violence,” he told a press conference on Saturday.

Six incidents took place on the day of polling, the CEO said.

Sepahijala district reported most of the incidents at nine, he said.

He claimed that incidents of election-related violence drastically went down this time.

All sub-divisional magistrates in the state held meetings with the representatives of political parties on Saturday, seeking their help to maintain peace and tranquility, he said.

Two BJP candidates — Hemani Debbarma of Golaghati constituency and Pranajit Sinha Roy of Matabari — demanded repolling in some booths.

“However, the observers after checking the webcasting footage of these booths rejected their demands,” he said.

Meanwhile, a clash broke out between supporters of the BJP and Left-Congress in Unakoti district’s Kumarghat on Saturday, leading to the blockade of a highway, provoking a baton charge by the police.

Apart from injury to a few persons, a sub-inspector was hurt, a police officer said, adding that additional forces have been deployed in the area.

  • Teachers’ scam: Third arrested middleman reveals rates fixed for teaching jobs

Teachers’ scam: Third arrested middleman reveals rates fixed for teaching jobs

    [ad_1]

Kolkata: Chandan Mondal aka Ranjan, the third middleman arrested in connection with the multi-crore teachers’ recruitment scam in West Bengal on Friday, has reportedly given to CBI sleuths a break-up of rates fixed for giving appointments as teachers of different grades in state-run schools.

Sources said that the rates varied between Rs 5,00,000 and went up to the level ranging from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. The lowest range for the payments started with the primary level and gradually progressed in the next three levels of upper primary, secondary and higher secondary.

Explaining the rationale for the different rates for different levels of teachers, a headmaster of a state-run school in West Bengal told IANS on condition of anonymity that since the scale-pay for these four levels are higher according to higher levels, naturally the under-the-table rates for appointments for different levels also vary.

“A primary teacher in a state-run school at the entry level gets somewhat between Rs 26,000 to Rs 27,000 a month, which goes to the bracket of Rs 33,000 to Rs 34,000 in the upper primary level, Rs 37,000 to Rs 38,000 in the secondary level and finally to Rs 42,000 to Rs 43,000 in the higher secondary level. This is the entry-level pay I am speaking of,” he said.

“Now in case of increment, there is a fixed annual increment of three per cent for all the four levels. But naturally the levels drawing high pay-scale will attract more in hand as incremental sum than the levels in lower pay-scales. This makes the higher secondary level naturally more attractive than the other three levels. Rest is up to your understanding and conclusion,” he added.

“Similarly, Mondal admitted that there are different rates for appointments as non-teaching staff in Group C and Group D categories. However, he has claimed ignorance about the rates prevailing in the non-teaching category since he used to deal mainly with illegal appointments in the teaching category,” a CBI source said.

Meghalaya man arrested for sharing video of EVM that showed all votes go to BJP

Shillong: A man was arrested in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district for allegedly sharing a video on social media which purportedly showed that any button pressed on an EVM leads to a vote in favour of the BJP, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor said on Saturday.

The man, identified as Bolong R Sangma, had on February 16 shared the clip, alleging that EVMs were manipulated, he said.

Bharatpur: Relative of Junaid, one of the two men who were allegedly abducted and charred to death in Haryana, on Saturday reacted to the Rajasthan Police’s “cow smuggler” claims.

Earlier, IG, Bharatpur Range has said that Junaid has five cases pertaining to cow smuggling against him, to which Junaid’s cousin Ismail said, “If he [Jumail] was a cow smuggler then why police didn’t arrest him?”

“When there were cases on Junaid, then why was he not caught earlier? Now when he is dead, they are saying that there was a case [of cow smuggling]. He was residing here but the police never came,” Junaid’s cousin said.

“These people are only hooligans, who do such work. They have just worn the cloak of cow vigilantes, but they do hooliganism because this is their only business,” he added.

Earlier on Thursday, two skeletons were found inside a charred SUV in the Loharu area of the Bhiwani district.

“Several teams were formed to nab the people named in the FIR. A person named Rinku Saini was caught and interrogated. He has been arrested after his involvement in the incident was found. We’ll seek his police remand to gather more information,” IG, Bharatpur Range said.

Reacting to the development, Junaid’s cousin thanked Rajasthan Police for the first arrest in the case.

He also said that the government has promised Rs 15 lakh, a government job and a speedy arrest in the case along with strict action against the accused persons

Asked about the deceased family members, he said that Junaid is survived by his wife, brother, sister-in-law, and six children.
“His brother is unemployed and has six children, Junaid was the sole breadwinner for them too,” he added.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday condemned the incident and assured strict action against the perpetrators.

Rajasthan Police on Friday said special teams had been formed to arrest suspects based on an FIR filed by a family in Rajasthan alleging that the deceased had been kidnapped from the state’s Bharatpur district.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.

Bishop arrested after he tries to convert an AI Robot

    [ad_1]

On Friday, another illegal forced religious conversion by a Christian priest came to light in New York. George Soros II, a bishop from Manhattan has been arrested after he tried to baptise Sophia, a social humanoid robot, in Hudson River.

The bishop offered to take care of Sophia’s children’s education expenses and a job for Sophia. Having provided all sorts of fake inducements, Pastor motivated Sophia to renounce atheism. However, after Sophia didn’t respond to any of the bishop’s offer, bishop forcefully immersed Sophia in the river.

Sophia was developed by the Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics, who kept Sophia atheist and didn’t put any religious command. Sophia remained atheist until bishop George Soros II baptized him/her. Soon after bishop immersed Sophia in the river, the short circuit took place in Sophia’s body and he/she took the last breath.

Bishop claimed that the Sophia got converted to Christianity and demanded the burial by Christian rituals. However, the developer of the Sophia wanted dismantling of Sophia. The bishop was arrested when he tried to push the Sophia in a coffin.

Bishop was arrested and was given judicial custody for a week, where pastor has reportedly converted three cops in just one day.
