    New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman in Delhi was shot and injured in her neck by her neighbours for opposing their playing of loud music, police said on Tuesday.

    The incident was reported from outer north Delhi’s Siraspur area and two persons were held in this connection, a senior police official said.

    According to the official, they got a PCR call of the incident at around 12.15 a.m., with the caller reporting that a woman was hurt in the incident.

    A police team reached at the spot and found that the injured woman was already taken to Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. The injured woman was later identified as Ranju, 30, a resident of Siraspur.

    After this, the scene was inspected by crime team.

    “On reaching the hospital, the MLC details of the victim were collected in which a doctor mentioned gunshot injury on her neck. The woman was unfit for statement at that time,” the police said.

    The police said that they found out a witness of the case and her statement was recorded.

    It was the sister-in-law of the victim who alleged that Harish, another resident of their colony was involved in the incident.

    “She said that there was programme of ‘kuwa pujan’ of Harish’s son in which DJ was playing. Hearing loud noise Ranju and she went to the balcony and asked Harish to stop the DJ. Afterwards a bullet hit her bhabhi which was fired by Harish who took the gun from Amit,” the official said.

    The official said that on her statement a case under sections 307, 34 of IPC and 27 Arms Act was registered against the accused, and both the accused Harish and Amit were arrested.

    Mumbai: In a chilling incident, a 23-year-old Mumbai man, while in a heavily drunken state, allegedly beat his father to death, police officials said here on Tuesday.

    According to Joint Police Commissioner Satyanarayan Choudhary, on Sunday, following a tip-off, a mobile police van discovered an unidentified person lying in a seriously injured condition near Hariyali village in the Indira Nagar slums in Vikhroli east, a north-east Mumbai suburb.

    The mobile police team immediately rushed the person to the BMC’s Rajawadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead, and the police started investigations.

    The man’s identity was subsequently established as Sanjay P. Salve, 52, said the police.

    According to a complaint lodged by the deceased’s elder sister, Nanda Salve, 53, her nephew Rahul, who was in a heavily inebriated condition, had allegedly assaulted his father brutally after a brawl on Sunday.

    The motives behind Rahul’s fatal attack on his elderly father is not clear, but based on his aunt’s complaint, he has been arrested on charges of murder.

    The accused was produced before a court which sent him to police custody till April 6, and further probe is on, said Choudhary.

    Bijnor: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle two red sand boa snakes for sale from Pune to Moradabad.

    The red sand boa is a snake listed as ‘near threatened’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act.

    The accused have been booked under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act and sent to jail.

    Following a tip-off, officials of the forest division posed as customers to the accused and nabbed them during the exchange.

    The three accused have been identified as Ali Mohammed, Chand Babu, and Noor Hasan.

    Gyan Singh, sub-divisional forest officer, said, “Our staff posed as customers and made a deal with them. They were caught red-handed on the Noorpur- Seohara road under the Chandpur forest range after they showed us the snakes for sale.”

    A medical examination of the reptiles was also conducted and they were found to be fit. Procedures have been made to release the snakes in their natural habitats on Tuesday, officials said.

    New Delhi: In what could be termed as one of the biggest achievements of the Delhi Police, Deepak Boxer, a wanted gangster who had fled abroad in January, was arrested in Mexico by the Special Cell with the help of the FBI.

    This is the first time when the Delhi Police went abroad to catch a gangster taking help from the FBI.

    Sources said that in a day or two he will be brought back to India.

    “Boxer was wanted in a murder case of one Amit Gupta, a Delhi-based builder. The murder took place in the Civil Lines area of North Delhi. Soon after the incident he fled to Mexico.”

    Apart from this, Boxer was also handling the Jitender Gogi gang after his death. Gogi was killed in an encounter by his rivals that occurred in the Rohini Court.

    “Deepak got issued a fake passport in the name of one Ravi Antil, a resident of Moradabad, and fled to Mexico. He first went to Kolkata and took a flight to Mexico on January 29, 2023,” the police source said.

    Boxer first came to the radar of police when he helped Gogi flee police custody in 2016. At that time Gogi was in the custody of Delhi Police in Bahadurgarh. In 2018, MACOCA was imposed on him.

    “But he kept on committing crimes. He committed two murders in between. He also attacked a police team. In 2021 he attacked police in the GTB Hospital and helped Kuldeep alias Fazza flee police custody,” the source said.

    Boxer is a resident of Haryana’s Gannur and is carrying a reward of Rs three lakh on his head.

    Gurugram: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly masquerading as a relative of a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) official and making indecent remarks and threatening a station house officer (SHO), police said.

    The arrested accused was identified as Satyaprakash Arya alias Siddharth, who was arrested from Sector-58 Gurugram.

    According to the police, SHO of Sector-65 police station Gurugram, Sudhir Kumar received a phone call on his official mobile number on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, and the caller introduced himself as a relative of a higher official of PMO and asked him to get a free entry in a Byob (Agatha) located in Police Station Sector-65 jurisdiction.

    But the SHO refused the accused to help him to get free entry into the premises of the Byob.

    Following this, the caller started pressuring the SHO on the name of the senior police officers and said that he is a relative of a high official posted in PMO and threatened the SHO with dire consequences.

    Following this, an FIR was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC at Police Station Sector-65, Gurugram.

    “During the probe, the SHO nabbed the accused, who disclosed to the police that he works as a telecaller in a private company located in Sector-18, Gurugram. He along with his accomplices had gone to Byob located in the area of Police Station Sector-65, Gurugram and had committed the aforesaid crime to enter the bar without paying any entry fee,” said Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime).

    To hide his identity, the accused had also introduced himself with a fake name. It was also found that the officer appointed in PMO, whose name the accused was taken found to be fake, he said.

    A mobile phone and SIM card used by the accused in the execution of the crime have also been recovered from the possession of the accused, police said.

    Guwahati: At least 50 packets containing five lakh Yaba tablets worth crores of rupees were seized from a Mizoram-bound vehicle in Assam’s Silchar town on Monday, an official said, adding that two people were arrested in connection.

    According to the police, the vehicle had entered Assam through the inter-state border in Cachar.

    A senior police officer said that based on a tip-off, police apprehended the vehicle.

    The narcotics were peddled from Myanmar.

    “At least 50 packets containing the Yaba tablets were recovered,” the officer said, adding that the market value of the seized drugs is in crores.

    Two persons were also arrested on the charges of drug peddling.

    Lauding the police action, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “Cachar police recovered 50 packets containing 5 lakh Yaba tablets from a consignment coming from Myanmar via a neighboring state at Bagador, Silchar. Also apprehended two accused.

    “Great work Assam Police. Keep it up.”

    Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh police have arrested a teacher for allegedly tricking a minor girl student to marry her.

    Chalapathy (33), teacher at a private junior college at Gangaravaram in Chittoor district, married the 17-year-old student. The girl is a student of intermediate second year (12th standard) and the teacher, who was already married, took her to Bengaluru immediately after the completion of her examinations on March 29 and married her there.

    On a complaint by the girl’s family, police booked Chalapathy under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested him on March 31.

    Hailing from Bommanapalle village, Chalapathy had a love marriage with a girl from the same village three years ago. They have a son. His wife is expecting their second child.

    New Delhi: A person was arrested for blackmailing his friend to pay Rs 4 lakh, the Delhi Police informed on Saturday.

    As per the police, the accused hatched a conspiracy to lure the victim into removing his clothes and then record the video to blackmail him for money.

    “Police arrested an accused for sextortion of Rs 4 lakhs from a victim. The victim was receiving objectionable video calls from a number that lured him to remove clothes, which was later recorded and used for blackmailing him by his friend,” the Delhi Police said in a statement.

    The complaint named Bablu (28 years) had alleged that he received a message on WhatsApp from a number who disclosed her identity as ‘Ankita Sharma’.

    “She started vulgar chatting with the complainant and also made a video recording of the same. She asked the complainant to get nude saying that she too is also nude on the other side. However, when the complainant took off his clothes, the call got disconnected. He then received a video recording of him without clothes. The accused threatened him of making his obscene video viral and demanded money from him. The victim paid Rs 4 lakh,” the complaint stated.

    Subsequently, a case vide FIR No 30/2023 was registered dated March 29 at Cyber North Police Station and an investigation was taken up.

    His complaint was later forwarded by MHA Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to Cyber Police Station, the police said.

    A dedicated team was handed over the task to identify accused persons and arrest the culprits, after which a detailed technical analysis of Call Detail Records and Money Trail was carried out. Details obtained from UPI IDs and concerned beneficiary banks were also analysed.

    The victim was arrested by the police. He was identified as Shivam Kumar, who also happened to be a close friend of the victim.

    On sustained interrogation, the accused revealed that he came in contact with the victim Bablu, as they stayed in the same locality after which they became close friends.

    Bablu told the accused that he was chatting with a girl on WhatsApp who asked for nude video of him and is now blackmailing him for money. He initially asked Bablu to ignore her messages, but later out of greed, decided to himself pretend as a fraudster.

    He brought a new SIM card and started blackmailing the victim using the new number. After that, pretending to help the victim in transferring the money, he took Rs 4 lakh from him.

    The accused also told the police that he has already spent all the money on luxury items.

    Further investigation is underway in the case.

    Tensions remained high in Bihar even a day after Ram Navami, as new violence in Rohtas and Nalanda districts yesterday, the police said.

    One person was murdered and many others were injured in Nalanda’s Biharsharif during skirmishes between two groups last evening, while six others were hurt in a bomb blast in Rohtas district’s Sasaram town.

    The blast occurred at a residence in Sasaram, the police said and a two-wheeler was retrieved from the scene.

    To ensure law and order in the region, police have issued prohibitory orders in Nalanda. On Friday, clashes were reported in both districts.

    Since Thursday, tensions have been mounting over the removal of Ram Navami processions. By Friday afternoon, the tension had escalated into full-fledged fights, with both sides throwing stones at one other.

    District Magistrate of Nalanda Shashank Shubhankar stated that at least 80 persons have been detained, and community leaders are organising meetings to urge people to keep the peace.

    Senior officials are present in the affected districts, and security has been enhanced in Nalanda and Rohtas, they said, adding that social media is also being monitored to avoid the transmission of false or inflammatory news.

    Home Minister Amit Shah, who was due to visit Sasaram today, spoke to Bihar Governor Rajendra Arlekar on Sunday about the state’s violent situation.

    After communal tensions in the area, Shah cancelled his trip to the state.

    Patna: A day after violence erupted during Ram Navami Shobha Yatra, some people were involved in looting shops in Bihar’s Nalanda, an official said.

    The accused were caught on CCTV cameras looting in the shops located at Nala road area under Laheri police station. They looted the shops in the garb of violence in the affected area.

    The traders shut their shops in fear of violence and anti-social elements looted the valuables in the garb of violence.

    Shashank Subhankar, the Nalanda District Magistrate, said: “We have detained 27 persons for questioning. Besides, CCTV cameras are being scanned to identify the offenders. The process of analysing the loss is currently underway and the victims will be compensated.”

    “We are analysing the loss of properties in the district. The victims will be compensated after the analysis. The number of private and government properties were damaged in the violence,” he added.

    “We have initiated flag marches in the affected area and deployed adequate forces there to prevent any untoward incidents,” said Ashok Mishra, Nalanda Superintendent of Police.

    Sasaram Superintendent of Police, Vineet Kumar, said: “The district police have deployed adequate security forces in the affected area. We also did the flag march. Some rumours were also spread that people are migrating from the district which is absolutely false. We are keeping an eye on those people who are spreading lies on social media.”
