Assam police arrest Congress’ Pawan Khera; party leaders protest

    [ad_1]

Congress leader Pawan Khera was arrested at the Delhi airport on Thursday after being deplaned from a trip to Chattisgarh’s Around 50 members of Congress staged a protest on the tarmac, refusing to allow the aeroplane to take off.

Pawan Khera, a prominent Congress spokesperson, was compelled to board another flight. He was traveling to Raipur with a large group of Congress leaders for an All India Congress Committee conference (AICC).

He was apprehended at the airport by Assam Police, who arrived with an FIR, or First Information Report. He will be presented in a Delhi court and will be taken to Assam on transit remand, ANI reported.

Several of Congress leaders walked off the plane and protested on the tarmac at Delhi International Airport, chanting slogans and conducting a sit-in directly close to the jet.

During a recent news conference, Khera misspelled Prime Minister Modi’s name when calling for a joint parliamentary investigation into the Adani-Hindenburg row.

“If Narasimha Rao could form a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee), if Atal Bihari Vajpayee could form a JPC, then what problem does Narendra Gautam Das…sorry Damodardas…Modi have?” he said, appearing to fumble upon the middle name with a colleague sitting beside him.

The BJP has demanded Khera’s arrest on charges of insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After a BJP representative submitted a police complaint, an FIR was lodged.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 20 called the remarks ‘pathetic’.

“Make no mistake- pathetic remarks by courtier Pawan Khera on PM’s father have blessings of the top levels of Congress, which is full of entitlement and disdain against a person of humble origins being PM. India will not forget or forgive these horrible remarks of Congressmen,” Himanta had tweeted.

IndiGo Airline in a statement said: “A passenger was deplaned by the police at the Delhi airport from Raipur-bound flight 6E 204. Some other passengers have also decided to deboard on their own accord. We are following the advice of the concerned authorities. The flight is delayed as of now and we regret the inconvenience caused to other passengers.”

Khera stated that he was initially informed that there was a problem with his luggage. “I was told that there was a problem with my luggage, despite the fact that I just had hand luggage. They said you couldn’t fly. The DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) will thereafter meet with you. I’ve been anticipating this moment for quite some time. There is no indication of law and order “He stated.

The grand old party reacted very strongly to the development. Party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate called it ‘dictatorship’.

“Assam Police is arresting Pawan Kheda ji and taking him away. What crime has he committed that he has been arrested? If this is not dictatorship then what is?” she said.

“Modi government is acting like a bunch of goons by deplaning Pawan Khera from the Delhi-Raipur flight and preventing him from joining the AICC Plenary. Using a flimsy FIR to restrict his movement and silence him is a shameful, unacceptable act. The entire party stands with Pawan ji,” Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal tweeted KC Venugopal.

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: After the charred bodies of two Bharatpur youths – Nasir and Junaid – were found in Haryana recently, the families of the victims have staged a dharna in the village graveyard in the district demanding the arrest of killers.

They alleged that when Kanhaiya was murdered in Udaipur, his criminals were caught in 1 hour, but now the killers of both victims have not been arrested yet.

Nasir’s and Junaid’s cousin Mohammad Javed said that he will not move from dharna until the accused are arrested. “We all are sitting on dharna, we will continue to sit on dharna like this till our demands are fulfilled,” he said.

A complaint was registered on February 15, after Junaid and Nasir were abducted and beaten up by unknown people. They were allegedly taken along; relatives allege that Junaid and Nasir were kidnapped in their own Bolero car and were burnt alive.

Bharatpur Police along with Haryana Police is probing the whole matter, and efforts are being made to arrest absconding accused.

A delegation of Muslim community led by State Minister Zahida Khan met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur on Saturday.

Telangana BJP alleges arrest of its social media activist; says Hindutva scaring BRS

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday alleged the arrest of its social media activist, Parandham, and demanded his immediate release.

“Hindutva atmosphere is sending chills down spine of BRS ! They’re trying to intimidate us with police cases. Parandham,

@BJP4Telangana social media activist was arrested by police. We demand his immediate release. Those who fight for Hindu dharma are termed as communal in TS,” he tweeted.

Sanjay said that he will keeping speaking about his religion. “Why shouldn’t I speak about Hindu Dharma ? I will speak about my religion. We need to fight for protecting Hinduism & work for establishing Rama Rajya with passion, commitment & honesty. Else people can’t survive & women will be left unprotected in kingdom of Razakars,” he further said.

The reason for the alleged arrest is yet to be known.

“Police ignore those who insult #Hinduism but will arrest those who work for protecting it. War has started. We will go to any extent to protect our BJP Karyakartas and social media activists. We’re ready to head to DGP Office or Pragathi Bhavan if necessary. Jai Sri Ram !,” he further said.

Sanjay on Saturday morning gave a call to the people of the state to set up statues of Maratha king Shivaji across all villages and towns in the state.

“Chatrapathi Shivaji worked hard to establish Hindu rule. His blood boiled when Mughals urinated on Shivlings as a child. Once he grew up, he warred with the Mughals and threw them out,” Sanjay remarked at a Shivaji statue launch event in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Sanjay further called for uniting the Hindu society by taking inspiration from Shivaji. “If Shivaji’s statues are not set up, there is a danger of the Hindu society being made fun of. I urge you all to not do time pass politics,” he said addressing the saffron party’s cadre.

The state BJP chief also said that the Hindu faith is not anti any other faith. “But it has become a fashion for some to insult Hinduism. It’s unfair to not respond when some people do that. Lord Ayyappa and Saraswati were insulted and a basic protest was also not put up,” he said.

Sanjay was referring to Bairi Naresh’s remarks on Hindu Gods that led to a huge controversy in the state.

Hyderabad police arrest drug peddlers, find big Mumbai networks

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Three interstate gangs that were supplying Ganja or marijuana and peddling other drugs were arrested by the city police in a major bust. The cops seized 204 grams of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), 110 kgs of Marijuana, a few cell phones, cash and cars, all worth Rs 60 lakhs. The cops managed to get a big lead on the drug supply to the state by tracking down a drug consumer from the city’s HITEC City area.

City police commissioner CV Anand said that the cops investigated and found one Sana Khan, a resident of Kondapur, who is an IT employee. She reportedly used to consume and sell MDMA in Hyderabad, and the user is what helped the police track the drug network in Hyderabad.

“She used to travel to Mumbai frequently in the last two to three years, and bought drugs from a supplier in Mumbai named Jathin Balachandra Balerao. She bought 1 gram of MDMA for about 3 thousand rupees in Mumbai and sold it for about 7 thousand in Hyderabad,” said Anand during a press conference on Tuesday. The police investigated Sana Khan and found 40 to 50 consumers in Hyderabad and 70 consumers in Mumbai.

According to Anand, Jathin procures Cocaine from one Emmanuel Osondu, a Nigerian who was arrested by the Bahadurpura police station earlier. H-NEW and Gopalapuram police officials seized 204 grams of MDMA, 4 smartphones, a Toyota corolla car and things worth Rs 20 lakhs in that case.

The Hyderabad police commissioner also said information regarding the drug racket obtained during investigations has been shared with the Mumbai Police.

“We have investigated for about 2 months and caught 3 modules, this is just the tip of the iceberg but we have discovered crucial information regarding the Narcotics situation in Hyderabad during our investigation. There is an increase in the flow of narcotics from Mumbai and we will conduct joint operations with the Mumbai Police to prevent the supply of drugs to Hyderabad and Telangana,” said commissioner Anand.

110 Kgs Ganja seized in separate case

In a case of organised procurement, possession and interstate transportation of ganja from Araku in Andhra Pradesh to Mumbai, the Hyderabad police also intercepted an Innova vehicle and seized about 110 Kgs Ganja, Rs 1.5 lakh cash, 4 cell phones all worth 36 lakhs.

One Bilkis Suleiman Sheik and her husband Ali Asghar, residents of Mumbai, contacted Murtuza Shaikh, a Zaheerabad resident and ganja seller. Murtuza led them to one Srinivas, a ganja cultivator in Araku. The couple then sent some other persons to purchase dry ganja of about 110 Kg from the cultivator.

As soon as they reached Hyderabad, Murtuza Shaikh decided to take 20 KG of dry Ganja to Zaheerabad on an RTC bus from Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stand (MGBS). Acting on tipoff, the Commissioner’s Task Force’s east zone team along with the Afzalgunj police station proceeded to MGBS and apprehended Murtuza.

Anand also said that Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and the Charminar police caught one Mehraj Kazi, a resident of Andheri West, Mumbai, and seized 40 grams MDMA, a phone and other things worth Rs 4 lakhs, in one of the drug busts. “All three cases had connections to Mumbai and there is an increase in the supply of narcotics from Mumbai to Telangana,” he added

Speaking about H-NEW, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), G Chakravarthy, said that 104 narcotics related cases were registered, and that 212 peddlers were arrested. In total, the Hyderabad police seized 12 types of drugs worth Rs 6.3 crores. 1,076 consumers were caught by the cops.

Arrest warrant against ex-Indian women’s football coach in POCSO case

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: A Delhi court has issued an arrest warrant against former Indian U-17 women’s football coach Alex Mario Ambrose accused of sexually abusing a woman athlete in June 2022 when the team was training in Norway.

The Dwarka court issued the warrant under Section 70 (compel the appearance or arrest of any person or search any place that the court requires) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The case attracts the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and it was registered against him last year.

The Additional Session Judge during the hearing also issued notice to the surety on breach of the bond for not adhering to the conditions imposed for bail.

The court listed the matter for further hearing on February 25.

Ambrose has been suspended and called back from Norway for alleged “misconduct” with a minor player during a training tour to Europe in June last year.

The 40-year-old, who was suspended from the national governing body of football in India, is accused of alleged sexual misconduct which took place with a minor girl when the Indian team was in Europe preparing for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Claiming “tarnishing his reputation”, Ambrose denied the sexual misconduct charges and sent a legal notice to the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The notice, issued by his lawyer, called the AIFF’s action “arbitrary and unconstitutional”.

He had said: “My client was forced to admit to what he has never done by putting him under fear, duress and coercion. My client was not allowed to offer any explanation nor was my client intimated or informed about the charges/allegations/accusations levelled against by him.”

The U-17 women’s team had featured in the World Cup in India, which was held from October 11 to 30 last year.
