Srinagar, May 05: Nearly two weeks after Army personnel were killed in Rajouri, a contact has been established by forces with militants in Kandi area of the district.
Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that forces, who were carrying out a massive search operation in the area, have established contact with militants in Kesari area of Kandi in Rajouri district.
“During a cordon and search operation, a contact was established with militants,” they said, adding that firing was going on between the two sides when this report was filed.
It is pertinent to mention that seven civilians and five Army personnel were killed by militants in the month of January and April in the district.
This is the third gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir in the past 72 hours—(KNO)

Russia’s Federal Security Services claimed on Sunday they had foiled an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence to attack a military airfield in central Russia with drones stuffed with explosives. Kyiv has not responded to the accusation but previously attributed such actions to “false flag” operations or Russians opposed to President Vladimir Putin.

New Delhi: A 20-year-old youth was stabbed to death near the Khan Market on Sunday evening, sending shock waves in the posh shopping locale, police said.
The victim, identified as Akash, was attacked on the road in front of Lokanayak Bhawan around 8 p.m., a police official said.
“The assailant stabbed Akash on the upper right side of his abdomen.

20 year old Hindu boy Akash was stabbed to death in Delhi’s Khan Market area.
“Local residents found him in a critical condition and rushed him to RML hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors,” the official said.
The police have initiated a probe into the incident, but the motive behind the attack remains unclear. “Although it appears to be a result of personal enmity, we are investigating all angles,” the official added.
The incident has rocked the area, known for its high-end shopping and dining experiences.
A video capturing the incident has gone viral on social media, causing many to raise concerns about the prevailing law and order situation.
Akash’s brother is employed at a salon, while his father works in housekeeping, as per police.
SRINAGAR: A blast shook the Hiranagar area in Kathua district, forcing the security establishment to launch a massive search operation.
Sources said a big-bang was heard near BPP Sanyal at International border in the jurisdiction of police station Hiranagar, after which police and other security forces rushed to the spot. Entire area was cordoned off while police officers reached the spot.
“The nature of the blast is mysterious as of now. We are ascertaining it,” they said.
A top police officer while confirming the incident told news agency KDC that a blast has been heard near International Border in the police jurisdiction of Hiranagar and SSP is proceeding to spot.
“Exact nature of the blast can be known once investigations are completed,” he said. (KDC)
