    [ad_1]

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has said that Iran had evacuated 65 nationals from Sudan with the help of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement posted on the website of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Kanaani on Saturday added that the Iranian evacuees were transferred safely from Khartoum to Port Sudan and then to the Saudi port city of Jeddah.

While praising the Saudi government for its “effective cooperation” and the Sudanese government for its assistance during the evacuation, the spokesman said necessary arrangements had been made to transfer the evacuees from Saudi Arabia to Iran.

  • Is Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr and join Real Madrid?

Is Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr and join Real Madrid?

    [ad_1]

Riyadh: Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly planning to leave the Saudi Arabian football club, Al-Nassr and is considering taking a new position at his former club Real Madrid.

According to El Nacional, Ronaldo has opted to leave Saudi Arabia because of linguistic and cultural problems.

As per media reports, Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez has offered the footballer an ambassadorial role at his former club. But reports indicate that if Cristiano returns, he will be a club ambassador.

    MS Education Academy

On December 30, Ronaldo joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr on a 2.5-year contract. He had signed a deal worth more than 200 million euros after a dispute with Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag.

Since joining the Al-Nassr, he has scored 11 goals in 14 appearances but has run into a few bumps in his path.

He missed the first two games of the league due to the suspension he served at Manchester United, the team could not sustain that spark with Ronaldo starting well as captain at Al-Nassr.

After losing the match against Al Hilal in the Saudi League, Al-Nassr’s status in the league is deteriorating. Cristiano’s obscene gesture towards Al-Hilal fans after returning from defeat became very controversial. Hilal’s victory was by two uncontested goals in a game where Cristiano faded.

On April 18, a Saudi lawyer called for Cristiano Ronaldo to be deported for public indecency after he appeared grabbing his crotch towards fans while walking off the pitch.

A video shared on social media platforms showed Ronaldo grabbing his crotch as he left the pitch in response to fans chanting the name of Lionel Messi.

It is reported that all this and more led to Ronaldo’s decision to leave Al-Nassr and join the Spanish giants.

Citing the Saudi Press Agency, Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) said that the trip comes following the agreements reached between the two countries in Beijing on the normalization of bilateral ties, Xinhua news agency reported.

It added during the trip, the Saudi delegation will visit Tehran to discuss the mechanism for reopening the country’s embassy here, and evaluate the situation for the reopening of the Saudi consulate general in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.

Following their arrival, it said, the team members met with Mehdi Honardoost, director general of ceremonies at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, in Tehran and thanked the ministry’s officials for their warm welcome and for facilitating the delegation’s visit.

China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran announced on March 10 that the latter two had reached a deal that includes the agreement to resume diplomatic relations and reopen embassies and missions within two months.

In a meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud signed a joint statement, announcing the resumption of diplomatic relations with immediate effect.

  • Saudi Arabia’s King invites Iranian President to visit Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s King invites Iranian President to visit Riyadh

    [ad_1]

Tehran: Just over a week after Tehran and Riyadh agreed to restore diplomatic relations, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has invited Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Riyadh, a senior official here has confirmed.

Mohammad Jamshidi, deputy chief of staff for political affairs to Raisi, confirmed the development in a tweet on Sunday, saying the invitation was extended to the President from the Saudi monarch in a letter, reports Xinhua news agency.

Jamshidi added the Saudi king said in the letter that he welcomed the recent deal between the two “brotherly countries” on the normalisation of bilateral ties and called for strong economic and regional cooperation between Riyadh and Tehran.

Raisi welcomed the invitation and stressed Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation, the official noted.

China, Saudi Arabia and Iran on March 10 announced that Riyadh and Tehran had reached a deal that included the agreement to resume diplomatic relations and reopen embassies and missions within two months.

Also on Sunday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told reporters that the two countries had agreed to hold a meeting at the Foreign Ministers level, and that three possible locations had been proposed.

He did not name the locations, nor say when the meeting might take place.

The two nations have also announced they will reopen embassies within two months and re-establish trade and security relations.

Saudi Arabia cut ties in January 2016 after demonstrators stormed its embassy in Tehran after Riyadh had executed the prominent Shia Muslim cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, who was convicted of terror-related offences.

Since then, tensions between the Sunni- and Shia-led neighbours have often been high, with each regarding the other as a threatening power seeking regional dominance.

They have been on opposing sides of several regional conflicts, including the civil wars in Syria and Yemen.
