    Hyderabad: Manik Kadam of Parbhani district has been appointed as the Maharashtra BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) Kisan Cell chief by party supremo and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

    According to reports, the BRS is expanding Kisan Cells in all states with the slogan `Ab ki baar, kisan sarkar` as well as appointed former IAS officer Thota Chandrasekhar as the Andhra Pradesh chief for the party.

    Meanwhile, state energy minister G Jagadish Reddy told reporters that villagers bordering Maharashtra and Karnataka want to merge with Telangana. He was speaking at a function to welcome former senior Congress leader and All India Muslim Reservation Porata Samithi president Md Khaled Ahmed who joined BRS on Sunday.

    Several BJP and BSP workers from Balkonda Assembly segment also joined the BRS in the presence of Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prasanth Reddy

    Ridwana Wallace-Laher has made history becoming the first Muslim woman to be appointed the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wakefield-based Penny Appeal, the Muslim international humanitarian charity.

    Ridwana’s appointment comes after being part of the Penny Appeal team on and off for eight years.

    “I’m really pleased, these are exciting times and I feel like a trendsetter,” the former Co-op Academy Grange teacher told The Telegraph & Argus.

    Penny Appeal took to Twitter and wrote, “📣 Welcoming our new Chief Executive Officer, Ridwana Wallace-Laher @RizzWL 😊🍊”

    “With close to a decade of experience in the humanitarian sector, we’re thrilled to have Ridwana at the helm, who also happens to be the first female CEO of a major British Muslim-led charity!,” Penny appeal added.

    Founded in 2009, Penny Appeal provides relief from poverty across Asia, the Middle East and Africa by providing water solutions, organizing group feeding, supporting orphan care, and providing emergency food and medical aid.

    Srinagar, Feb 12: The President of India Sunday appointed Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh as chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.

    In a notification, a copy of which is lying with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Union Ministry of Law & Justice said that the President has appointed Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh, Gauhati High Court Judge, as CJ of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.

    Justice NK Singh was born on March 1, 1963 at Imphal to (Late) Justice N Ibotombi Singh of the Gauhati High Court, who was the first Advocate General of Manipur, and N Gomati Devi.

    He briefly practiced before the Supreme Court of India before shifting to the Gauhati High Court where he was designated as a senior advocate in 2008.

    In 2011, Justice Singh was sworn in as an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court and, in 2012, he was made a permanent judge.

    He was appointed a judge of the Manipur High Court upon its creation in the year 2013. He was later transferred to the Gauahti High Court in 2018—(KNO)

    Justice Jaswant Singh, Judge, Orissa High Court has been elevated as chief justice of the Tripura High Court.

    Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Judge, Gauhati High Court has been made chief justice of the High Court of J-K and Ladakh.

    Srinagar, Feb 12: The President of India on Sunday appointed Brig. (Dr) B.D. Mishra, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Union Territory.

    In an official communique, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the President’s Secretariat announced the appointment of BD Mishra as the new LG of Ladakh to replace RK Mathur.

    The communique also said that the President has accepted the resignation of Mathur, who was appointed as the first LG in October 2019.

    The appointment of a non-political Governor in Ladakh is seen as a significant move as the region is seeking statehood and constitutional safeguards under the 6th schedule of the Constitution of India.

    Mishra retired as Brigadier after spending more than three decades in the Indian Army.

    He has served in the Sino-Indian war, 1971 Liberation war, and 1965 war with Pakistan. He played a role in tackling the Naga insurgency movement in 1963-1964 in Nagaland. The Retired Brigadier also fought against the LTTE as the Leading Brigade Commander of the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Jaffna, Vavunia and Trincomalee in Sri Lanka during the period of 1987-1988. After his retirement, he had also volunteered for the 1999 Kargil War—(KNO)

    Srinagar, Jan 10(GNS): Government on Friday formally appointed Pandurang Kondbarao Pole (IAS, AGMUT:2004), as Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir.

    “In pursuance of notification No. 154/08K/2022-P.Admn. dated 31.01.2023, issued by the Election Commission of India, Mr. Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, IAS (AGMUT:2004), is appointed as Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir,” reads a government order, a copy of which lies with GNS, adding, “Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, IAS shall also be Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Election Department.”

    The order comes ten days after ECI designated Pandurang Kondbarao Pole (IAS), Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, as Chief Electoral Officer J&K.

    “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 13A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 (43 of 1950), the Election Commission of India in consultation with the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir hereby designates Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, IAS (AGMUT:2004) as the Chief Electoral Officer for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with effect from the date he takes over charge and until further orders in place of Hirdesh Kumar, IAS,” reads an order by ECI issued on December 31.

    With his appointment, Pole will cease to hold charge of all or any charges of work under the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, which was holding before the assumption of office that he should be designated Secretary to the Government in charge of Election Department in the State Secretariat.

    The government has already transferred and posted Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, IAS (AGMUT:2005), Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department, holding additional charge of Principal Resident Commissioner, J&K Government, New Delhi, as Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. (GNS)
