Joint Director Information, Mohd Aslam appointed as nodal officer for G-20 summit

Srinagar, May 09: Jammu and Kashmir government has appointed Mohd Aslam, Joint Director Information, Kashmir, as the nodal officer and ‘single point of contact’ for upcoming G-2- summit in J&K UT.
“With reference to minutes of the meeting dated 16-02-2023 and directions issued on 8-05-2023 during review of preparations for G-20 summit, it is hereby ordered that Mr. Mohd Aslam (JKAS) Joint Director Information, Kashmir (Contact No. – +91-9419000155) shall be the Nodal officer & Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the forth-coming G-20 Summit in the UT of J&K,” read an order issued today.
His roles and responsibilities would be “to ensure proper implementation of the Comprehensive Media plan prepared by DIPR, covering all activities for information dissemination and proper coverage of the G-20 event,” and “to ensure proper coordination and liaison with Tourism Department and other stakeholders as required.

New chief secretary appointed in violence-hit Manipur

Imphal: The Manipur government on Sunday appointed Dr Vineet Joshi as the new chief secretary of the state which has been rocked by violence for the past few days, an official order said.
Joshi, a 1992 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Manipur cadre, replaced Dr Rajesh Kumar.
Joshi who was on central deputation was serving as Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the repatriation of Joshi to his parent cadre on the request of the Government of Manipur, a Personnel Ministry order dated May 6 said.
“The governor of Manipur is pleased to appoint Dr Vineet Joshi as chief secretary” with immediate effect, according to an order of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (personnel division) of the state government.
Violent Clashes broke out in the northeastern state after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised in the 10 hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, leading to the deaths of at least 54 people.
So far, 23,000 people have been rescued from the violence-hit areas and were moved to military garrisons.
Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of Manipur’s population and live mostly in the Imphal valley. Tribals — Nagas and Kukis — constitute another 40 per cent of the population and live in the hill districts.

Two new Congress secretaries appointed for Rajasthan

Jaipur: The Congress party on Saturday appointed two new secretaries for Rajasthan where assembly polls are due later this year.
The new AICC secretaries — Amrita Dhawan and Virender Singh Rathore — will be attached to Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the AICC general secretary in-charge of Rajasthan, the party said in a release.
The press release said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge appointed the new AICC secretaries with immediate effect.

The party named Rathore in place of Tarun Kumar. Also, Rathore has been relieved of his current responsibilities in Gujarat. Qazi Muhammad Nizamuddin, a three-term MLA from Uttarakhand and already attached to the AICC general secretary, will continue to hold the post.

Officers appointed through UPSC are ‘dacoits’: Union min Bisheswar Tudu

Balasore: Senior BJP leader and central minister Bisheswar Tudu has courted controversy by claiming that many of the officers appointed through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) are “dacoits”.
He alleged that while a “chicken thief” can be punished, an official who runs a mineral mafia cannot be touched as the system protects him.
The union minister of state for tribal affairs and jalshakti made the remarks while addressing a gathering as chief guest at the golden jubilee function of a government school at Baliapal in Balasore district.

He was heard making the controversial statement in a viral video.

DTCP appointed as Nodal agency for Telangana Cool Roof policy

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) is the new nodal agency, of the newly launched Cool Roof policy, the state government announced here on Saturday.
Commissioner and Director Municipal Administration (CDMA) N Satyanarayana issued orders.
The DTCP will be in charge of implementing effective policies across urban local bodies (ULBs) statewide. However, the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) and HDMA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) will not come under DTCP.

The CDMA will share ULB-wise targets where its respective municipal commissioners will work on a target-based approach to ensure effective implementation of the Cool Roof policy.
The municipal commissioners have been asked to ensure that building applicants comply with the policy. The occupancy certificate will be issued only after thorough verification.

Hyderabad surgeon appointed advisor to Royal College of Glasgow

Hyderabad: Renowned surgeon Dr P. Raghu Ram has been appointed as an international advisor to the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG), which is one of the oldest Royal Colleges in the world.
Raghu Ram, currently director of KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases in Hyderabad, is the first doctor from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to achieve the distinction.
Raghu Ram, who is also a Padma Shri awardee, would be providing strategic advice to RCPSG.

He is one of the few in the world to have obtained Fellowship from all the four Surgical Royal Colleges in the British Isles (FRCS – London, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Ireland) at a very young age.
It is in recognition of his established academic track record and outstanding contribution to help budding surgeons from the Indian subcontinent over the past two decades that he has been given this new onerous responsibility by RCPSG, said a statement.
Confirming the appointment from 203 -2026, with an option to extend for another three years, Professor Hany Eteiba, International Director for the RCPSG in a letter addressed to Raghu Ram stated: “I wish to extend my sincerest thanks for your willingness and commitment to the College’s goal of developing this important international network.
“It was great to meet with you virtually last weekAto gain insight into your ideas about how the College can engage with existing and prospectiveAmembers in India. I extend a warm welcome to you as our new International Advisor.”
Founded in 1599, RCPSG is the only multidisciplinary Royal College in the British Isles that represents a diverse community of over 15,000 surgeons, dentists and professionals working in podiatry and travel medicine from across 97 countries around the world.

The Royal College empowers its members to provide the highest standards of care to their patients through education, training and assessment.
Raghu Ram has also served as international surgical advisor for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for 10 years from 2010-2020 and that makes him the only surgeon from South Asia to have been associated with two of the oldest Royal Colleges in the world as international advisor.

Div Com Appointed To Probe Gujarat Conman’s Kashmir Visit

SRINAGAR: The government on Wednesday appointed Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri as the inquiry officer to probe various aspects related to the visits of Gujarat conman to Kashmir.
According to an order, the inquiry officer has been asked to identify the lapses on part of officers concerned.
The officer has been asked to submit the inquiry report within a week.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, as Inquiry Officer to inquire into the various aspects related to the visits of Kiran Patel to Kashmir during the past months and security arrangements made thereof. The Inquiry Officer shall identify the lapses on the part of the Officers/ Officials concerned and submit a detailed report within one week,” reads the order. (KNO)

Bansuri Swaraj appointed co-convener of Delhi BJP’s legal cell

New Delhi: Bansuri Swaraj, the daughter of late Sushma Swaraj, has been appointed as co-convener of the legal cell of Delhi BJP, paving her entry into active politics.
Swaraj practices law in the Supreme Court.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, in his first appointment in the state unit, after taking over as full-time state president of the party, appointed Swaraj as co-convener of the legal cell.
In a letter issued on Friday, Sachdeva said that Swaraj’s appointment would come into force with immediate effect and hoped that she would strengthen the BJP.
Swaraj said she was a qualified lawyer and had been helping the party in legal matters earlier as well.
“It is just that I have been formally given an opportunity to serve the party more actively in the capacity as a legal department co-convener of the Delhi BJP,” she told PTI.

He shall also hold the charge of the post of Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, in addition to his own duties”, reads an order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

In an order issued by health and medical education department on Thursday, Dr Masood , Head of the department of Medicine, Government Medical College(GMC) Srinagar, was appointed as the Principal of GMC .
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Dr Masood Tanvir Bhat, Professor & HoD Medicine, Government Medical College, Srinagar as Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, w.e.f. 03.11.2022 in Pay Level-15 (Rs. 182200-224100), ” the order said.
Notably, in November 2022, Dr Masood Tanvir was given charge of Principal GMC Srinagar on temporary basis after superannuation of former Principal Samia Rashid
