Rijiju’s ‘anti-India gang’ remarks are attempt to pressure judiciary and threaten judges: Raut

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday alleged that Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju’s remarks that a few retired judges are part of an “anti-India gang” are an attempt to pressure the judiciary and threaten judges.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave in the national capital on Saturday, Rijiju had claimed that a few retired judges and some activists who are “part of the anti-India gang” are trying to make the Indian judiciary play the role of the opposition party.

Reacting to the remarks while talking to reporters here, Raut said, “What kind of democracy is this? Does it suit a law minister to threaten the judiciary? It is a threat to judges who refuse to bow down to the government and it’s an attempt to pressure the judiciary.”

Criticising the government doesn’t mean being against the nation, Raut said.

The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP also said that after Rahul Gandhi spoke about the threats to democracy in the country, there is now a move to get the Congress leader suspended from the Lok Sabha.

To a question on the demand that Gandhi should apologise for his comments, Raut said, “Rahul Gandhi will not apologise and why should he?”

“Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have in fact spoken against the country and its political leaders on foreign soil,” he charged.

The BJP has been demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks he made in London, in which he alleged that the structures of Indian democracy are under attack and there is a “full-scale assault” on the country’s institutions.

The remarks triggered a political slugfest, with the BJP accusing him of maligning India on foreign soil and seeking foreign interventions, and the Congress hitting back at the ruling party by citing previous instances of Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising internal politics abroad.

Rahul attends Parliament panel meet on external affairs, denies anti-India remarks

New Delhi: After returning from London, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended the meeting of the parliamentary committee on external affairs where, sources said he responded to the BJP MPs without naming him about MPs going abroad and speaking against the country.

The meeting was held on Saturday.

Sources said Rahul Gandhi said that he has not spoken anything which is against the country. The members of the ruling party objected to this, but Rahul was supported by the opposition members, sources said. After which External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar intervened and said the members should speak on the subject.

Rahul has been insisting that he wants to speak in the House and met the Speaker a few days ago. He said four Ministers have raised allegations against him in Parliament House so he has the right to respond.

“It is my right to be allowed to speak on the floor of the House. I requested the speaker today. I went to his chamber and I requested him. I said – look, I would very much like to speak. I told him that people from the BJP have made allegations against me and as a Member of Parliament, it is my right to speak,” he said on Thursday.

The BJP has ceased the opportunity to target Rahul Gandhi, and BJP National President J.P. Nadda has said that Rahul Gandhi has become “a permanent part of this anti-nationalist toolkit”.

Nadda said: “It’s unfortunate that the Congress party is indulging in anti-national activities. After being repeatedly rejected by the nation, Rahul Gandhi has now become a permanent part of this anti-nationalist toolkit.”

SC being used as ‘tool’ by anti-India forces: RSS-affiliated weekly on BBC docu row

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is allegedly being used as a “tool” by anti-India forces, RSS-linked weekly Panchjanya has said while criticising the apex court for issuing notice to the Centre over pleas challenging its order to block social media links to the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After efforts to “save” terrorists in the name of human rights, creating “hurdles” in India’s growth in the name of environment, now it is being tried that forces against the country should have the right to do propaganda against it in India itself, an editorial in the latest edition of the magazine said.

Citing the apex court notice to the Centre on the BBC documentary, the editorial alleged, the “Supreme Court was created for safeguarding the interests of our country but it is being used as a tool by the opponents of India in their efforts to clear their way.”

The Supreme Court runs on taxpayers’ money and works according to Indian law for the sake of the country, it noted.

Dubbing the BBC documentary as a “propaganda” to defame India, the editorial said it is “false” and “based on fiction”.

The editorial also stated that all anti-national forces take advantage of the provisions of “our democracy, our generosity, and our civilisational standards,” against us.

The Supreme Court has last week dismissed a plea seeking the imposition of a complete ban on the BBC in India in the wake of the controversial documentary, terming the petition “entirely misconceived” and “absolutely meritless”.

Another set of petitions challenging the government’s decision to block the documentary will be heard in April next.

On January 21, the government issued directions to block multiple YouTube videos and Twitter posts sharing links to the documentary.

People insulting ‘great men’ of sanatan tradition are ‘anti-India’: Ramdev

    [ad_1]

Haridwar: Yoga guru Ramdev on Thursday said many people are making controversial remarks against “great men” of sanatan tradition and termed them as “anti-India”.

“Insulting remarks are being passed by many people against great men associated with the sanatan tradition… They are all anti-India and acting at the behest of international forces by showing disrespect to the country. They should be strongly opposed,” Ramdev told reporters in reply to a question about self-styled godman and Bageshwar Dham chief Dhirendra Krishna Shastri.

However, the yoga guru admitted people were being misled in the country in the name of miracles.

“People are being misled in the name of miracles. India respects physical reality. There is no place in its culture and religion for hypocrisy. But one cannot deny that if there is a physical science there is a spiritual science too,” he said after hoisting the national flag at Pantanjali Yogpeeth here.

Targeting Pakistan, he said it is on the verge of bankruptcy and will soon be divided into four parts with the POK, Sindh and Balochistan merging with India which will become a super power.
