TDP leader Lokesh promises to establish Islamic bank in Andhra

    [ad_1]

Tirupati: TDP national General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Tuesday promised to establish an Islamic bank once the party forms the government in Andhra Pradesh again.

After a two-day pause, Lokesh began his pada yatra ‘Yuva Galam’ and interacted with the representatives of the Muslim community at Sri Kalahasthi of Tirupati district.

“I am promising you that once the TDP forms the government again this Islamic bank will be established,” he said, noting how Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his padyatra, had promised to set up Islamic bank but he did not keep his word.

Lokesh recalled the formation of the Minorities Corporation by N. T. Rama Rao, the founder of the TDP. “Despite the change in the government for the past several years, the corporation continued but after Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister, he discontinued it,” he said.

He assured the minority community that the corporation would be revived once his TDP is back in power.

He alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy discontinued all the welfare schemes launched by Chandrababu Naidu during the TDP regime and promised to revive all the schemes.

As the ‘Yuva Galam’ completed 300 km at Thondamanupuram panchayat in Srikalahasti Assembly segment, Lokesh assured the villagers to provide safe drinking water within 100 days of coming back to power.

Later, at Thindamanadu village, he said that the cheap liquor is now working as pesticide and the farmers instead of the pesticides can use the cheap liquor. He also interacted with women who came to collect their gas cylinders. He said that the subsidy on gas cylinders is not being paid to the consumers.

He also promised to do justice to communities like Gandla, Telikula and Deva Telikula once the TDP is back into the government.

During his padyatra, Lokesh met the groundnut farmers who narrated their problems to him. Farmer, Venkat Reddy, said that for the past three years they have been incurring heavy losses in agriculture and the state government is not coming to their rescue.

Another farmer told Lokesh that due to spurious seeds and fertilisers, the farming community in the district has been facing several problems. They also said that there is no MSP for the farm products due to which they are incurring huge losses in agriculture.

  • Andhra rolls out red carpet to investors

Andhra rolls out red carpet to investors

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh, which has been topping the ease of doing business index for the last four consecutive years, has assured prospective investors the fastest single-window clearances, usable coastlines, multiple seaports, quality power supply, abundant land bank, and modern infrastructure.

Addressing an investor roadshow on Monday ahead of the global investor summit slated for March 3-4 in Visakhapatnam, state industries & commerce minister Gudivada Amarnath rolled out the red carpet to India Inc if they are ready to invest in his state.

The state is home to a diversified portfolio of industries such as automobiles, chemicals, aerospace, defence, pharma, textiles etc), and world-class infrastructure in seaports roads, startups and tourism.

On top of it, he said the state, which has the second largest coastline of over 974 km has two major ports and over 40 minor ports, and also boasts of the highest per capita income of USD 3,800 in the country in FY22.

As many as 89 large projects are under active implementation with a total investment of Rs 2.2 lakh crore, with the potential to create 20,000 jobs, he added.

When it comes to project clearance, he said Andhra has been the champion state in ease of doing business for the past consecutive four years.

The state has over 48,000 acres of industrial land banks and is home to 530 industrial estates, 293 industrial parks, 31 MSME parks, six special economic zones, three information technology SEZs, and three of the 11 industrial corridors. All this makes Andhra a competitive investment destination on the East Coast, he said.

State finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said the state is taking big strides as evident from its economic growth at 11.43 per cent GSDP growth in FY22, the state had the highest growth rate all major states. In the past three years, its exports have increased growing 9.3 per cent annually.

Over the past few years, our government has undertaken several reform initiatives to strengthen governance, business environment, policy stability, competitiveness, enhance transparency, to boost the investment climate, said Rajendranath.

Urban development minister Audimulapu Suresh said Visakhapatnam, which is the biggest urban agglomeration of the state with 20 million residents or 5.8 million households.

This vibrant coastal city is a hub for industrial, educational, and tourist activities attracting investments from public and private companies that include oil refinery, zinc, fertilizers, steel, dredging, heavy engineering, ship-building and power generation, he said.

None of the ministers offered any investment targets from the forthcoming summit, though.

Various states have been holding global investor summits and claiming to have sewed up investments worth billions of dollars. At the recently held one such summit in Lucknow, the UP administration has claimed to inked investment MoUs worth over Rs 33.5 lakh crore, while Karnataka’s held in November had claimed close to Rs 10 lakh crore of investment commitments.

Maharashtra and Gujarat, which lead in industrialisation and foreign direct investments, have not held their summits since the pandemic. Many analysts say vast majority of such MoUs die naturally as the average conversion of such commitments into actual investments are only in high single-digit across the states.

  • Andhra HC stays show-cause notice issued to employees’ body

Andhra HC stays show-cause notice issued to employees’ body

    [ad_1]

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday granted stay on the show-cause notice issued by the state government to leaders of the Government Employees Association (APGEA) for meeting state governor to seek his intervention to ensure payment of salaries and pensions on time.

Hearing a petition filed by APGEA leaders challenging the show-cause notice, Justice Ravinath Tilahari granted a stay and directed the government to file a counter.

A delegation of APGEA leaders led by its president K. R. Suryanarayana had met Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan on January 19 and submitted a memorandum to him on the problems faced by the employees.

The delegation requested the governor to issue necessary advice to the government as he is competent authority as per the Article 309 of the Constitution to intervene in the affairs of the government employees.

After the meeting, APGEA leaders told media persons that they were compelled to meet the governor as all their efforts to resolve the grievances through the state government had failed.

However, taking a serious note of the action of APGEA leaders, the government had issued a show-cause notice on January 23 asking them to explain why their association should not be derecognized.

Suryanarayana had challenged the show-cause notice in the high court. The court on January 31 directed the government not to take action against the APGEA.

During the previous hearing, the judge had posed several questions to the government. He wanted to know if the rights guaranteed by Article 19 of the Constitution are not applicable for APGEA. He asked the government if it mentioned in the show-cause notice what rules the APGEA violated while speaking to the media.

Petitioner’s counsel Ravi Prasad told the court that according to the 1990 Financial Code, salaries to government employees should be paid on the last working day of every month but employees are not getting current month salaries till 15th of next month.

Suryanarayana alleged that the state government is not honouring the commitment to pay the salaries and pensions on the first of every month. The AGEA leader said the government also withdrew the GPF amount of Rs.415 crore from the accounts of over 90,000 employees without their permission. He termed this a “serious” financial fraud.
