China opposes Amit Shah’s visit days after renaming 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh

    [ad_1]

Beijing: China on Monday criticised Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, stating that it violated Chinese sovereignty over the area, a claim outrightly dismissed by India.

Home Minister Shah on Monday launched Vibrant Villages Programme’ from Kibithoo, the border village of Arunachal Pradesh and India’s easternmost place.

“Zangnan, (the Chinese name for Arunachal Pradesh) is China’s territory,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a media briefing here while answering a question on Shah’s visit to the area.

    MS Education Academy

“Indian officials’ activities in this area violate China’s sovereignty and (are) not conducive to peace and tranquility in the border regions. We firmly oppose it,” he said.

India last week outrightly rejected China renaming some places in Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that the state is an integral part of India and assigning “invented” names does not alter this reality.

India’s reaction came in response to Beijing announcing Chinese names for 11 more places in Arunachal Pradesh which the neighbouring country claims as Southern Tibet.

“We have seen such reports. This is not the first time China has made such an attempt. We reject this outright,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in New Delhi.

“Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India. Attempts to assign invented names will not alter this reality,” he said.

It was the third batch of standardised geographical names for Arunachal Pradesh issued by China’s civil affairs ministry.

The first batch of the standardised names of six places in Arunachal Pradesh was released in 2017 while the second batch of 15 places was issued in 2021.

China’s renaming of the places in Arunachal Pradesh came in the midst of the lingering eastern Ladakh border standoff that began in May 2020.

Following the standoff, India bolstered its overall military preparedness along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Arunachal Pradesh sector as well.

Last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the situation along the LAC in eastern Ladakh remained “very fragile” and is “quite dangerous” in military assessment because of close deployments of troops of both sides in some pockets though “substantial” progress has been made in the disengagement process in many areas.

The Indian and Chinese troops are locked in a nearly three-year confrontation in certain friction points in eastern Ladakh even as the two sides completed disengagement of troops from several areas following extensive diplomatic and military talks.

India has been maintaining that its ties with China cannot be normal unless there is peace in the border areas.

  • Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, rap on knuckles of China

Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, rap on knuckles of China

    [ad_1]

On Monday, Union  Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Arunachal Pradesh to launch the “Vibrant Village Programme”. It may be a coincidence or otherwise already planned schedule that the visit is coming a week after China renamed 11  places in the state, which it claims, is its area. His visit is a strategic rebuff to China, and also an assertive note to the world that India would not tolerate any rhetoric that tends to undermine its sovereignty. The message is loud and clear.

The ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ will be launched at Kibithoo village, which sits on the edges of the Line of  Actual Control in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. The LAC defines boundaries with China and China has been playing the game of renaming places since 2017, and it asserts that the territory is within the geography over which it has sovereignty.

At this point in time, the visit of the Home Minister and the launching of a specially designed program to help the border populations across the regions in the country assumes strategic significance. The timing is crucial, and so is the program that he is going to launch. The schemes, which benefit the people, are meant for the people who believe in living under one flag and singing the national anthem. So, what Amit Shah is trying to tell the people is that India is all for taking care of them, whether they sit in the remotest corners of the country, or in the hinterland.

    MS Education Academy

The ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ (VVP) with central components of Rs.4800 crore including Rs.2500 crore exclusively for road connectivity for the Financial Years 2022-23 to 2025-26. VVP is a centrally sponsored scheme under which 2967 villages in 46 blocks of 19 districts abutting the northern border in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand & Himachal Pradesh, and UT of Ladakh have been identified for comprehensive development. In the first phase, 662 villages have been identified for priority coverage, which includes 455 villages in Arunachal Pradesh.

A closer look at the scheme and the geography reveals that there is a focus on the villages across the states/union territories, which are having borders with China. There also is a mention of the UT of Ladakh, where India is locked in a stiff standoff with the Chinese army.  This standoff is three-year-old; there is no sign of it coming to an end anytime soon because of the intransigence of Beijing not to honour the commitments made in peace and tranquillity not to make any attempt to change the status of the LAC militarily. China has not attempted that only, but it has also raised hype over the issues by naming of the places, like it did in case of Arunachal Pradesh, to cause political and diplomatic consternation and confrontation.

China renamed 11 places in Arunachal  Pradesh on April 3, days after it successfully brokered a peace agreement between Saudi Arabi and Iran, two regional rivals in the Arab world, and also after Chinese president Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia where he reaffirmed his country’s ‘no limits’ friendship with Moscow. China, it may be admitted, though with grudges,  has emerged as a global power, seeking to expand its military and soft power influence in various parts of the world. These things tell that it wanted to overwhelm the world, and especially India, so it renamed the places.

Now when Home Minister will be visiting  Arunachal Pradesh on Monday to launch a mega scheme that will benefit   2,967 villages in four states and one union territory,  the visit carries a very strong message that China may have the right to do its diplomatic work and strut on the world stage as a leader, but it has no right to make any attempt to undermine the Indian sovereignty, and that this country knows how to answer all the flawed narratives emanating from  Beijing.

The development capsule of the “Vibrant Villages Programme”  is aimed at helping in improvement of the quality of life living in the identified border villages and encourage people to stay in their native locations thereby reversing the outmigration from these villages and adding to the security of the border. District Administration with the help of appropriate mechanisms at block and panchayat level will prepare Action Plans for identified village to ensure 100% saturation of central and state schemes.

“The focus areas of interventions identified for development of villages include road connectivity, drinking water, electricity including solar and wind energy, mobile and internet connectivity, tourist centers, multi-purpose centers and healthcare infrastructure and wellness centers,” is the underlined purpose of the scheme.

Bihar: Amit Shah’s Sasaram rally cancelled post Ram Navami violence

    [ad_1]

Patna: Following the imposition of section 144 in Sasaram, BJP on Saturday cancelled the rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Bihar BJP President Samrat Chaudhary confirmed the development. He said that the district administration has imposed section 144 at the venue and in the entire Sasaram city, how could it be possible to organise an event there?

Chaudhary, however, said that Shah’s rally in Nawada will take place at the scheduled time on Sunday.

“It is extremely unfortunate that the Bihar government has failed to provide security to our men. Our supporters are being attacked by a section of people. The district administration has imposed section 144 in the city. Hence, how could it be possible to organise an event there?” Chaudhary said.

The BJP had a pre-scheduled programme at Sasaram to celebrate the birth anniversary of Samrat Ashok. The district has a significant number of people from Kushwaha community and BJP wants to get their support. Kushwaha community is in the target list of BJP to hurt the Lav-Kush equation of Nitish Kumar-led JD-U. Hence, an event was organised for Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Sasaram city.

The district administration imposed section 144 in Sasaram after a massive clash broke out between two groups over Ram Navami Shobha Yatra on Friday afternoon. Two houses, some shops and several vehicles were set on fire after a section of people pelted stones and bricks on the Shobha Yatra.

“Nitish Kumar has not done anything for Samrat Ashok. Due to the BJP, he did some work after 2015. If he has done anything for Samrat Ashok before 2015, he needs to mention it in public domain,” he said.

When asked about the Nawada rally, Chaudhary said that section 144 is not imposed in Nawada, hence the pre-scheduled programme of Nawada will take place at the scheduled time. Amit Shah is coming to Patna today and he will go to Nawada to attend the programme,” Chaudhary said.

Besides Sasaram, violence also erupted in Nalanda district over Ram Navami Shobha Yatra on Friday.

Amit Shah to attend two BJP events in Bihar on April 2

    [ad_1]

Patna: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reach Bihar on April 1 to participate in two BJP events, newly-appointed state President Samrat Chaudhary said on Thursday.

Shah will attend two events in Sasaram and Nawada districts on April 2 with the aim of strengthening the party structure in Bihar ahead of Lok Sabha election 2024.

“Amit Shah will come to Patna on April 1. He will stay the night and go to Sasaram city in Rohtas district the next day. After that event, he will also go to Nawada as well. Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, his visit is important and it will give fresh energy to the BJP workers,” Chaudhary said.

After the formation of Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar, this is Amit Shah’s fifth visit to Bihar.

“We are preparing a plan to win all 40 seats. The visit of the Home Minister is related to it. He will come from time to time and assess the situation,” Chaudhary said.

“We are organising an event to celebrate Emperor Ashoka’s birth anniversary in Sasaram. Amit Shah is coming here to participate in this event. We are expecting a large number of people to come to the event,” he said.

Chaudhary also slammed Chief Minster Nitish Kumar for taking credit for making a convention hall in the name of the Emperor in Patna.

“I want to say that the Emperor Ashoka Convention Hall was constructed due to the BJP. We have planned to construct a Samrat Ashok convention hall in every district headquarter but when Nitish Kumar separated from us, he changed the name. Why Independence Day and not Liberation Day?: KTR retorts to Amit Shah

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Responding to criticism by the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) who charged the Telangana government for not celebrating September 17 as Liberation Day, state IT minister KT Rama Rao countered the Union government by questioning why 15th August is celebrated as Independence Day and not as Liberation Day.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday alleged that the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana hesitates to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day.

Speaking at a program in Bidar, Amit Shah further remarked that Telangana has failed in remembering the sacrifices of people, who fought against Nizam’s rule.

Slamming Shah for his false statements, KTR said, “Stop being a prisoner of the past. Become the Architect of your Future.”

The minister on his Twitter account stated as a reminder that the Telangana government officially celebrates September 17 as National Integration Day.

“Your blatant misrepresentation is indeed unbecoming of the stature of a Union Home Minister,” tweeted KTR.

The minister asserted that respectful commemoration of the sacrifices and struggles against oppressors, be it the British or Nizam is what matters the most.
