  • Telangana govt should constitute SIT to probe Medak death: Shabbir Ali

Telangana govt should constitute SIT to probe Medak death: Shabbir Ali

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday demanded that the Telangana government set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the death of Mohammed Abdul Qadeer Khan, who succumbed to death due to the grievous injuries caused by Medak Police personnel.

Further, he said all the police personnel involved in the act must be booked for murder and arrested immediately. He also demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakh to be paid to the victim’s family.

Shabbir Ali strongly condemned the Telangana Police for trying to cover up the custodial death.

“Why is the state home minister Mahmood Ali silent on this issue? Why is he not at the very least acknowledging the custodial death of Qadeer Khan? Is this the KCR government’s example of ‘friendly policing’?” he asked.

The Congress leader said that the death of Qadeer Khan due to police torture has raised many questions about the functioning of Telangana Police.

“Qadeer Khan was first picked up from the Old City of Hyderabad as a suspect in a theft case; brutally tortured for five days in a police station in Medak and then placed under illegal house arrest. He was denied medical help although he suffered multiple fractures, dislocation of the spine and renal failure. He had to escape house arrest to get himself admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad. Media has been reporting about the incident since Qadeer Khan was admitted to a hospital and the victim himself recorded a video narrating how he was tortured by the police. But neither the home minister, DGP or other police officials reacted and now after his death, they are busy trying to cover up everything,” he said.

Shabbir Ali alleged that Telangana was becoming the capital of ‘custodial deaths and torture.

He said a Dalit woman Mariyamma and her son Uday Kiran were brutally tortured by the police in Yadadadri Bhuvanagiri district and later Mariyamma succumbed to the injuries in July 2021.

Two more cases were later reported from Suryapet and Kamareddy districts.

“Instead of ensuring the safety of common people, home minister Mahmood Ali leaves no occasion to praise the Telangana police and its ‘friendly policing’,” he said adding that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) never reacted on the rising incidents of custodial deaths in different parts of Telangana.

He also condemned MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi for defending the KCR government on all issues including the custodial death of Qadeer Khan. He pointed out that Qadeer Khan was picked by the police from Yakutpura, which is part of the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency.

“The AIMIM leader went to Bharatpur in Rajasthan to meet the families of two youths Junaid and Nasir who were murdered in Haryana by the right-wing goons. While we strongly condemn the murder of Junaid and Nasir and demand stern action against the culprits, we expect Asaduddin Owaisi to express a similar reaction to Qadeer Khan’s custodial death who belonged to his home state. Why Asaduddin Owaisi did not visit the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad where Qadeer Khan was admitted for 23 days? Is he not trying to protect KCR government as he did in the past in similar cases?” he asked.

  • KCR govt decreased Muslim quota to 3%, says Congress’ Shabbir Ali

KCR govt decreased Muslim quota to 3%, says Congress’ Shabbir Ali

    [ad_1]

Kamareddy: Senior Telangana Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir was facilitated by the members of Wahidiya Masjid Committee of Vikas Nagar Colony in Kamareddy town after Friday prayers for bringing in 4% Muslim reservation in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The Wahidiya Masjid Committee members honoured him describing him as the champion of Muslim reservation.

Speaking on the occasion, Shabbir Ali said that the minorities, especially the beneficiaries of the 4% Muslim reservation should support the Congress party in the next elections. He said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who came to power on the promise of a 12% Muslim reservation, cheated the minority community by reducing the Muslim quota to 3%.

He said KCR government has illegally reduced the quota for Muslims in the BC-E category in jobs and education to 3% and it was being done unofficially.

Shabbir Ali said the previous Congress government not only provided 4% reservation for Muslims but implemented many schemes for the welfare of minorities. However, the BRS government was only creating hype about minorities’ welfare, but doing nothing.

He alleged that the KCR government has made all the institutions dealing with the welfare of minorities defunct by not sanctioning funds and not filling vacant posts. He said that Muslims should realise that KCR has caused huge damage to minorities by wearing the false mask of secularism.

The Congress leader said that the TRS has always supported the BJP government at the Centre and indirectly strengthened the BJP in the State by damaging the Congress party in Telangana. He announced that the Congress party would soon launch a campaign to expose these facts before the people.

  • The 6th Nizam Mahboob Ali Pasha was coroneted this day

The 6th Nizam Mahboob Ali Pasha was coroneted this day

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: February 5, 1884. Does the date ring a bell? No prizes for guessing. It was this day 139 years ago that the Hyderabad State got its sixth ruler, Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. He was just 18 when he was invested with full administrative powers. British Viceroy, Lord Rippon, visited Hyderabad for the first time to place the young Nizam on the gaddi at Khilwat Mubarak in Chowmahalla Palace.

The palace was recently in the news when the body of Mukarram Jah Bahadur, the titular Nizam, was kept here for public display and a few days later, his son, Azmet Jah, was crowned as his successor.

This day is also significant as Mahboob Ali Khan was the first Nizam to be coroneted by the representative of Her Majesty, the Queen. Soon after the investiture ceremony he was conferred the title of Grand Commander of the Star of India.

Interestingly the 6th Nizam inherited the masnad at the age of two itself when his father, Nawab Afzal-ud-Daula, passed away. But a Council of Regency was put in place to look after the administration till he came of age. When he turned 16 years, he was initiated into the details of office work and the administration of the State by Nawab Salar Jung.

The first thing that Mahboob Ali Khan did after assuming power was to proclaim that nothing pleased him more than seeing people live in peace and prosperity. Subsequent years proved that he lived up to his words by undertaking administrative reforms that benefitted the people. Development of railways, revision of revenue settlements, setting up of cotton mills at Hyderabad, Aurangabad and Gulbarga are among his significant achievements. Besides this, education, irrigation, medicine also received top priority. The famous Chloroform Commission was held in Hyderabad all because of the scientific interest shown by the sixth Nizam.

Popularly known as Mahboob Ali Pasha, he is also responsible for the establishment of the Victoria Memorial Orphanage, Madrasa-i-Aliya, Asafia State Library and Dairatul Maarif. Old timers recall how the sixth Nizam ruled more with the heart than the head. One can’t forget the relief measures he took after the disastrous Musi floods of 1908.

Poet, marksman, administrator and lover of gems and jewellery, his was a multifaceted personality. Elegantly dressed, he had a fascination for expensive clothes and cars. His two-storey wardrobe at Purani Haveli, the longest one in the world, still has a huge collection of expensive clothes collected by him. He had the reputation of not wearing the same dress twice.

Similarly, his fondness for vintage cars is legendary. Some of the expensive cars like Napier, Rolls Royce Silver Ghosts, were made to order for the then wealthiest man in the world. They are still a big draw at the Chowmahalla Palace.

It was he who bought the famous Jacob Diamond, which forms the crowning glory of the Nizam’s jewels. The 6th Nizam, who was exposed to Western education, was fond of a lavish lifestyle and had a fascination for the good things in life. He breathed his last at Falaknuma Palace at the age of 45 following a paralytic attack. But as his name, Mahboob suggests, he remains a beloved ruler even to this day.

Mumbai: Television actor Aamir Ali took to Twitter to clear the air on his dating rumour with Shamita Shetty. The actor posted a video claiming they are “just very very close friends.”

In the video, Aamir said, “Hi! I don’t know what to say. My mom has always taught me to be a gentleman. If someone comes home, I generally drop them at the door, whoever that is. A friend of mine was there and I escorted her to her car. I was just being a friend and it became something else. Guys, we are single. I am single, she is single. I have heard that when a guest comes over to meet Shah Rukh Khan even he escorts them to the door. That is fine, but when I did, just saying).” He captioned the video, “Just saying…”

On Tuesday, Shilpa Shetty’s sister Shamita took to Twitter saying, “I’m baffled by society and its convenient prudish mindset all across. Why is every action and every person subjected to scrutiny or snap judgement with no reality check? There are possibilities beyond the narrow-minded assumptions of the NETIZENS.”

  • Asif Ali Zardari sends Rs 10 bn legal notice to Imran Khan

Asif Ali Zardari sends Rs 10 bn legal notice to Imran Khan

    [ad_1]

Islamabad: Former President and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Monday sent a Pak Rs 10 billion legal notice to former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, local media reported.

In the notice, sent by Naek and Associates acting on behalf of their client Asif Ali Zardari, it was stated that Imran Khan in a public address which was widely-reported across the world had accused Zardari of “false, fabricated and scandalous remarks/statements as well as leveled baseless allegations of serious nature” that he had paid his corruption money to a terrorist organisation being supported by powerful state agency facilitators to launch another fatal attack on Khan, Samaa TV reported.

The notice read that the “baseless accusations” were of “malicious and defamatory nature” that tried to defame Zardari nationally as well as internationally, the report said.

“Through your defamatory, libelous and scandalous remarks and allegations of serious nature, you have tried to create a link between our client and terrorist organisations blindly disregarding the fact that our client and his party has remained the victim of terrorism,” the notice read.

Further, it said that Zardari’s wife and former Prime Minister late Benazir Bhutto was also assassinated by terrorists, Samaa TV reported.

“In your statements, you have stated that our client, through corruption money, is hatching a fresh plan to allegedly assassinate you despite the fact that our client has languished in prison for almost eight years in false, fabricated, trumped up and concocted cases, including corruption cases, and not one of which was proved against him and he was acquitted in all those cases honourably.”

The notice termed Khan’s statements as “made with malafide intentions and ulterior motives to injure, harm, defame and disparage the reputation and name of our client who has made sacrifices for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan”.
