Airtel Launches Family Offerings With Free Additional SIMs To Counter Reliance Jio – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

Competition is rapidly intensifying in the higher revenue-generating postpaid mobile business segment. Bharti Airtel has just launched a new postpaid family plan variant, priced aggressively at Rs 599, and also unveiled two new variants of its all-in-one Airtel Black plans priced at Rs 799 and Rs 998, in moves clearly aimed at fortifying its postpaid family offerings and countering Reliance Jio.

The Sunil Mittal-led telco’s latest postpaid offerings come on the heels of its recent unlimited 5G data offer (launched last Friday) that was also aimed to hold on to its higher-paying postpaid flock and take on Jio’s new postpaid plans announced last week.

Airtel’s new Rs 599 postpaid family plan, which will directly counter Jio’s recently launched Rs 699 premium family postpaid offer, allows users to add up to two extra SIM cards to the plan at no additional cost. The new family plan variant also includes Amazon Prime/Disney Hotstar subscriptions, a 105 GB monthly data allowance and data rollovers. It is also a composite price postpaid pack with no hidden costs towards deposits, taxes or activation.

The new Airtel Black pack variants, priced at Rs 799 and Rs 998, also allow users to add two extra postpaid SIMs (read: mobile connections) at no additional cost and include over-the-top (OTT) content via Amazon Prime/Disney Hotstar subscriptions and a 105 GB monthly data allowance. Further, the Airtel Black plan priced at Rs 799 offers a DTH connection while the more premium Rs 998 variant comes with a broadband connection (but no DTH). Both plans will allow consumers to accumulate unused monthly data, via rollovers. The company, though, will keep the base Airtel Black plan, priced at Rs 699, which continues to offer broadband and DTH, but won’t offer extra SIMs available on the new higher-priced variants.

At present, around 6% of Airtel’s over 332 million subscribers use postpaid plans, while it’s roughly 10% of Vi’s 228.6 million users. For Jio, its postpaid base is under 5% of its overall 430 million-plus subscriber base.

“The new Rs 599 family plan and the new Airtel Black variants are aimed at broadening the company’s bouquet of family postpaid offerings, growing its postpaid user base and boosting ARPU.” a top Airtel executive told ET. He added that Airtel’s new postpaid plan variants with the additional SIMs offerings, are being primarily targeted at delivering more value to smallish young families where some members may be working away from their hometowns.

Jio’s recently launched Rs 699 family postpaid plan includes Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions. But users will have to shell out an extra Rs 99 for each additional SIM. Last Tuesday, Jio had also unveiled two new individual and family postpaid plans, starting at Rs 299 and Rs 399, respectively. The Rs 399 Jio plan allows postpaid users to add up to three extra SIM cards, but each at a cost of Rs 99.

Analysts said Airtel’s two-stage counter is aimed at thwarting market leader, Jio from poaching its higher revenue-generating postpaid users.

Airtel’s initial unlimited 5G data offer was made available to all postpaid users as well as prepaid ones with data plans of Rs 239 and above, encouraging its 4G users to upgrade to the next-gen wireless broadband service. ( ET Telecom)

  • Airtel Base Prepaid Plan for all 22 Circles in India – Check Benefits Here – Kashmir News

Airtel Base Prepaid Plan for all 22 Circles in India – Check Benefits Here – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

Bharti Airtel recently hiked the base prepaid tariffs in all 22 telecom circles in India. The hike happened in a phased manner, wherein Airtel started the move with just two circles. Upon getting a positive response, the telco decided to move ahead with the same for the remaining circles.

In a matter of just two months, the base prepaid plan, which used to be the Rs 99 plan for Airtel consumers across India, became the Rs 155 plan. The Rs 155 plan is not a new plan, and thus, users are already aware of it and its benefits. For the few that aren’t aware and the ones who have forgotten its benefits, keep reading ahead.

Bharti Airtel Base Prepaid or Entry-Level Prepaid Plan in 2023

The new entry-level prepaid plan from Airtel for 2023 is the Rs 155 plan. With this plan, consumers get a total of 1GB of data. The only downside to this plan is that it doesn’t have a lot of data, but then it is also very affordable. You can always recharge with a 4G data voucher that Airtel provides to customers with this plan. Note that if you want to use unlimited 5G from Airtel, then you can if you are recharging with the Rs 239 plan or more.

To enable unlimited 5G, you will have to go to the Airtel Thanks app and claim the offer. It is available for both the prepaid as well as postpaid customers of the telco. Coming back to the base prepaid plan of Airtel, users don’t get much in terms of benefits, but they have no other option but to recharge with the Rs 155 plan if they don’t want to spend more than the bare minimum to keep the SIM card active.

There are more plans from Airtel under Rs 200 that users can recharge with. There’s a Rs 179 as well as Rs 199 plan available for the customers, and these plans are also meant to offer users validity at a lower cost. The Rs 179 plan offers 2GB of total data, while the Rs 199 plan offers 3GB. The Rs 179 plan ships with a service validity of 28 days, while the Rs 199 plan ships with a service validity of 30 days. (TelecomTalk)

  • Bharti Airtel Q3 net profit surges 92 pc to Rs 1,588 crore

Bharti Airtel Q3 net profit surges 92 pc to Rs 1,588 crore

    [ad_1]

Delhi: Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Tuesday reported a 91.5 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,588 crore for the three months ended December 2022, helped by competitive growth across businesses.

Total revenue rose nearly 20 per cent to Rs 35,804 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year “backed by strong and consistent performance delivery across the portfolio”, the company said in a statement.

Its consolidated net income (after exceptional items) stood at Rs 1,588 crore for the just ended quarter, translating into an increase of 91.5 per cent year-on-year.

The consolidated net income (before exceptional items) was at Rs 1,994 crore, up 147 per cent compared to the year-ago period.

Bharti Airtel Managing Director Gopal Vittal said the company delivered another quarter of consistent and competitive growth across businesses.

“Revenue grew sequentially by 3.7 per cent while EBITDA margin expanded to 52 per cent. Our strategy of winning quality customers has helped us add 6.4 million 4G customers and exit the quarter with an industry leading ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) of Rs 193,” Vittal said.

Bharti Airtel’s revenue in India grew 19 per cent to Rs 24,961.5 crore in the 2022 December quarter from Rs 20,912.7 crore a year ago.

The total capital expenditure of the company rose 52 per cent to Rs 9,313.6 crore in the latest December quarter from Rs 6,101.5 crore in the same period a year ago. The increase was mainly on account of 5G network rollout in India.

In India, the company’s capital expenditure jumped 74 per cent to Rs 8,095.4 crore during the 2022 December quarter from Rs 4,653.8 crore a year ago.

According to Vittal, the higher capital expenditure led to a 12 per cent decline in the company’s operating free cash flow to Rs 5,071.1 crore.

The telco’s 5G rollout is on track to cover all towns and key rural areas by March 2024, the top honcho said.

India Mobile ARPU increased to Rs 193 during the reporting quarter from Rs 163 in December 2021 quarter, according to the company.

The company had reported ARPU of Rs 190 in the 2022 September quarter.

Vittal said that postpaid, enterprise, homes as well as Africa business sustained their momentum while the DTH business showed signs of growth in an industry that continues to be under pressure.

The company reported a 5.8 per cent growth in its global customer base at 51 crore, including 36.92 crore customers in India.

The mobile subscriber base of Bharti Airtel in India grew 2.9 per cent year-on-year to 33.22 crore, including 1.8 crore postpaid customers.

The 4G data customers base increased 10.8 per cent to 21.67 crore and data consumption per customer per month on Airtel network increased by 11 per cent to 20.29 GB from about 18 GB on a year-on-year basis.

Airtel Africa’s net income grew 22.17 per cent to Rs 788 crore in the latest December quarter. In the year-ago period, the same stood at Rs 645 crore.

The Africa revenue jumped around 22 per cent to Rs 11,087.6 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 9,105.3 crore in December 2021 quarter.

At the end of the 2022 December quarter, the company’s net debt increased nearly 32 per cent to Rs 2.09 lakh crore from Rs 1.59 lakh crore a year ago.
