Want someone to shoot us in head?: Azam Khan refers to Atiq Ahmed’s killing

    [ad_1]

Rampur: Fearing being shot dead in a similar manner to gangster-turned politician Atiq Ahmed, Samajwadi Party senior leader Azam Khan, while campaigning in Rampur for civic polls, asked people whether they want him and his family to be killed in a similar fashion.

“What do you want from me and my children? Do you want someone to come and shoot us in head? That’s all that is left…, save Nizam-e-Hind, save the law, you don’t have to offer anything, you just have to encourage yourself. Sit wherever you get stopped and try to move forward instead of stepping back,” he said.

Azam Khan who was suffering from a prolonged illness took to the stage after a long time to campaign for upcoming civic polls in UP.

“We will cast our vote, it’s our birthright but that too is being snatched from us twice, if it gets snatched thrice then you won’t even to the right to breathe,” he said while referring to disqualification of himself from the House after a court sentenced him to three years in jail in a hate speech case. The case was registered against Khan for leveling serious allegations against administrative officials posted in Rampur, PM, and UP Chief minister Yogi Adityanath in 2019 during an election rally.

Azam Khan campaigned for Samajwadi Party candidate Fatima Zabi, contesting for the presidential post of Rampur municipality.

Azam Khan who is well-known for his sarcastic statements attacked BJP-led government in both UP and center and ended up calling his opponents “political eunuchs”.

“Those who are saying today that the municipality is on contract, they had put the whole country on contract, Red Fort has been sold, airports have been sold, ports have been sold, railways have been sold, what is left? Only the army is left. It’s with Hukumat-e-Hind, it should remain. Our army and the government’s army are two different things. Our army is yours and we have seen this army fighting at every corner and have won,” said Azam Khan.

“‘Vazir-e-Azam’ (Prime Minister) of India has mentioned your Rampur assembly seat in a Hindustan of 150 crore people, this is your status. There is so much fear of you, and this fear is not of any caste, nor of my being a minister, nor of my being an MP or MLA, but it’s the fear of our unity and the trust we share. Whatever happened, whether I remain a member of the Legislative Assembly or not, a person who’s in his young age, his legislature was abolished twice, mine and Abdullah’s (his son) right to vote was were abolished,” he said further.

Azam Khan was elected MLA from the Rampur Sadar constituency. The state Assembly Secretariat, earlier in October, announced Khan’s disqualification from the House after a court sentenced him to three years in jail in a hate speech case. The case was registered against Khan in April 2019 for seriously leveling allegations against administrative officials posted in Rampur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during an election meeting.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Khan was booked for making inflammatory speeches while addressing a public meeting in Khatanagaria village of the Milak Kotwali area. Earlier Allahabad High Court in May 2022 had granted interim bail to Azam Khan in a matter which was related to a wrongful possession of Waqf board property land.

UP police recreate Atiq Ahmed’s murder as ‘part of investigation’

    [ad_1]

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of UP police recreated the murder scene in Colvin Hospital, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Gangster-turned-politician Atiq and his brother were shot dead amid heavy police security and press persons by three people on April 15 while they were being taken for a medical checkup.

Lovelesh Tiwari, Arun Maurya and Sunny Singh shot the brothers at point-blank range leading to their instant deaths. Their murder was captured on LIVE TV spurring widespread condemnation by opposition parties and raising law and order questions by the Yogi Adityanath-led state government.

    MS Education Academy

The murder led to the suspension of five police officers, including Shahganj police station in-charge Ashwani Kumar Singh, a sub-inspector and three constables.

The state government formed a three-member judicial commission to investigate the killings. The commission, headed by retired Justice Arvind Kumar Tripathi of Allahabad High Court, retired district judge Brijesh Kumar Soni, and retired IPC officer Subesh Kumar Singh, has been asked to submit a report in two months.

On Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh police officials recreated the scene where two men in white kurta-pyjama and a headscarf surrounded by police personnel are being taken to the Colvin Hospital. Just like the day of the murder, they are surrounded by media personnel.

The interaction with the media continues for a few minutes when two men (who were standing nearby) came up to them and opened fire. The two men pretend to lie dead. The whole scene was videographed.

Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Bhanu Bhaskar, Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma and Joint Commissioner of Police Akash Kulhari were present when the scene was being recreated. Police said recreating the crime scene is likely to provide clues in the investigation and on the basis of them the accused can be interrogated.

Prayagraj: Gangster Atiq Ahmed’s shooters will be presented before the CGM court in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Wednesday where the Special Investigation Team has filed an application in the court seeking remand for questioning for all three accused.

The police have sought their custody by filing an application with the Chief Magistrate and have asked for 14 days of custodial remand.

Security was increased while taking them to the court due to the incident which occurred on April 15 night when Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed in police presence while being taken for medical checkup.

The media is being kept away from the accused.

Earlier, the three assailants were shifted from Prayagraj’s Naini Central Jail to the Pratapgarh district jail on Monday.

“All three shooters, Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lovelesh Tiwari, are under threat of attack behind bars, owing to which they have been shifted to a high-security cell and are kept under CCTV surveillance,” official sources said.

Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad were shot dead by men posing as press persons on Saturday night while being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj. Both the gangsters collapsed on the spot after they were shot at nearly point-blank range.

The three shooters, Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lovelesh Tiwari were sent to 14-day judicial custody by the district court on April 16.

On April 16, the last rites of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf took place at a family graveyard in the Kasari Masari area of Prayagraj.

  • Who will inherit Atiq Ahmed’s properties in Delhi?

Who will inherit Atiq Ahmed’s properties in Delhi?

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad is said to have left multiple high-value properties in Delhi, as per sources.

These properties consist of both residential and commercial real estate, including apartments and office spaces situated in Shaheen Bagh, Okhla and Jamia Nagar.

It is estimated that Atiq’s real estate portfolio in Delhi is worth several crores, said the sources.

    MS Education Academy

The significant question that arises now is who will inherit Atiq’s empire, which was allegedly acquired through unlawful means and is worth crores in multiple states.

Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj on Saturday night, in the presence of the police and in full glare of the media. Atiq and his brother were shot when they were taken for a medical test to the Colvin hospital. Both died on the spot.

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police have compiled a list of Atiq’s and his associates’ assets in districts such as Prayagraj and Kaushambi, among others, following the crackdown on their “illicit” properties.

In the past 50 days, Atiq’s entire family has been on the run and his son Asad was killed in an encounter in Jhansi.

The mafia don also lost his property and assets worth Rs 1,400 crore in Prayagraj, and his several properties have been demolished by the government.

The Enforcement Directorate has also dealt a severe blow by exposing assets worth over Rs 1,400 crore and discovering nearly 50 shell companies that Atiq and his gang used to convert black money earned from extortion into white money.

A day before he was killed in Prayagraj, the law enforcement agencies unearthed a huge cache of arms that belonged to him.

Besides confiscating Atiq and his gang’s property worth Rs 1,400 crore, 15 teams of the Enforcement Directorate have also expedited their money laundering probe against Atiq and exposed assets worth another Rs 108 crore.

The documents recovered during the ED’s raids on Atiq have revealed more than 50 shell companies which are dummy companies owned by someone else in the documents, but they were invested in by Atiq and his gang.

All these companies were involved in the black money business network and the ED dragnet has fallen on a lawyer, Atiq’s accountant, a real-estate businessman, a former BSP MLA, a builder and a car showroom owner who have been central to running Atiq’s ‘business’.

The crackdown on Atiq Ahmad has also ‘destroyed’ his family.

Of his five sons, one has been killed, two are in jail and two minor sons are in juvenile home.

His wife, Shaista Parveen is absconding and so is the wife of his slain brother Ashraf. His sister, Noorie is in hiding and brother-in-law Akhlaq is in jail.

His relatives are afraid of admitting to any kind of links with him and his family.

Atiq Ahmed’s killers were jobless, addicted to drugs, say kin

    [ad_1]

Banda: After gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj in full media glare on Saturday night, the father of one of the assailants on Sunday said his son was jobless and a drug addict.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Yagya Tiwari (father of Lovelesh, one of the arrested shooters) said, “He is my son. We saw the incident on TV. We are not aware of the actions of Lovelesh nor do we have anything to do with this. He never lived here and neither was he involved in our family affairs. He did not tell us anything. He came here five to six days ago. We have not been on talking terms with him for years. There is already a case registered against him. He was jailed in that case.”

“He doesn’t work. He was a drug addict. We have four children. We have nothing to say about this,” Yagya Tiwari added.

Meanwhile, speaking to ANI, Pintu Singh (brother of shooter Sunny Singh) said, “He used to wander around and did no work. We live separately and dont know how he became a criminal. We have no idea about the incident.”

Days after Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi, the mafia-turned-politician and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were killed on Saturday while being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj.

Atiq was accused in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal in 2005 and also in the subsequent killing of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the BSP’s leader’s murder, in February this year.

All three assailants were arrested, informed police after Atiq and his brother were shot dead.

“Three people have been arrested and they are being questioned. A journalist was also injured as he fell down and a constable sustained a bullet injury,” Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma said earlier.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath also ordered the setting up of a three-member judicial commission to probe the incident.

“UP CM Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the Prayagraj incident. He chaired a high-level meeting and ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. The CM also ordered the formation of a three-member Judicial Commission (Judicial Inquiry Commission) in the matter,” an officer said.

A forensic team also reached the scene of the incident and collected samples.

Moments before their killing, the slain gangster siblings, who were accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, were speaking to the media while being taken for a medical and their murder was captured on camera.

“Nahi le gaye to nahi gaye (they did not take us, so we did not go)” were Atiq Ahmed’s last words, when asked what did he have to say on not being taken to his son Asad’s burial.

    [ad_1]

Jhansi: Uttar Pradesh Police in the wee hours of Saturday took the bodies of the mafia turned politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his aide Ghulam to the mortuary in Prayagraj.

As per the visuals, two ambulances and an Uttar Pradesh police van were seen taking the bodies to the mortuary in Prayagraj.

Earlier Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his aide Ghulam wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, were killed in an encounter with UP Special Task Force in Jhansi on Thursday, a plan was foiled to help the jailed gangster to escape, Uttar Pradesh Police said.

    MS Education Academy

State’s Special Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar revealed that teams of civil police and special forces were deployed following the intelligence inputs of a plan by Asad of planning to free his father Atiq Ahmed by attacking a police convoy midway as the gangster turned politician was being brought in Uttar Pradesh for hearing.

“We had information that to help the accused Atiq and Ashraf escape there could be an attack on the police convoy bringing them back to UP in the case (Umesh Pal murder case). In view of this information, teams of civil police and special forces were deployed,” said Prashant Kumar.

Revealing further as to how the encounter took place, he said that based on the information, two teams were deployed and Asad was intercepted, while he was on a bike along with his aide Ghulam.

“Action was taken on the basis of information and at around 12:30 and 1 pm the duo were killed in a retaliatory firing,” Kumar said, adding that the Special Task Force conducted the entire operation.

Each of them carried a reward of Rupees five lakh. The police said that foreign-made weapons were recovered.

Atiq Ahmed and his family came under the scanner in the Umesh Pal murder case. Atiq Ahmed, who has over 100 cases against him over the last 43 years, has been convicted in the same case.

Umesh Pal, a key witness to the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Raju Pal and one of his two armed security escorts was shot dead in Prayagraj’s Sulem Saray area on February 24. Several rounds were fired and bombs were hurled at Umesh and his gunners.

  • Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad, Ghulam fired with intent to kill, says FIR

Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad, Ghulam fired with intent to kill, says FIR

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: The FIR lodged soon after the encounter with Asad Ahmad, son of gangster Atiq Ahmad, and shooter Ghulam in Jhansi, says that the police tried to catch the two accused alive.

The encounter took place on Thursday.

The FIR says, “Just as we instructed our car driver to overtake the motorcycles the two accused were trying to flee in, and loudly asked them to stop, they accelerated and tried to take a turn at a side road to escape, though another team had already surrounded them.”

    MS Education Academy

The two were repeatedly warned but they did not stop and their motorcycles slipped and fell near a babool tree.

“Asad and Ghulam took cover, started abusing the police and fired with the intent to kill,” it added.

The police said they stopped their vehicle, took cover, and walked into their firing range to try to capture the two alive ‘without caring for their safety’.

They had to shoot back as the accused started firing indiscriminately, the police said, adding that the firing from the other side stopped after a while when they inched closer and found Asad and Ghulam injured.

“They still showed signs of life, so we immediately sent them to a hospital in two separate ambulances, but later found out that they had died,” the FIR said.

Pistols, bullet shells, live bullets, motorcycles, and other evidence were collected from the spot, the report stated.

The police said that they were told by an informant on April 13, that Asad and Ghulam were in Jhansi, after which they started laying a dragnet.

Asad and Ghulam were spotted approaching on two unnumbered Bajaj Discovery motorcycles from Chirgaon town in Jhansi, after which the police chased them for 1.5 km.

Asad’s body will be received by his maternal family and will be taken to a family graveyard at Kasari Masari in Prayagraj for burial in the afternoon or early evening.

Atiq Ahmed and his family came under the scanner as CCTV footage showed that Umesh Pal was murdered by indiscriminate firing and a bomb blast in Prayagraj on February 24.

Asad, 19, was seen chasing Umesh Pal with a gun in hand in the footage.

Asad, who has no criminal record, was not named in the FIR lodged immediately after the killing of Umesh Pal. His name surfaced during the investigation, the police said.

Both Asad and Ghulam had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their heads.

Umesh Pal, the key witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case, and his police security guards Raghavendra Singh and Sandeep Nishad, were also shot dead outside his home in Dhoomanganj on February 24.

With Thursday’s encounter, four people linked to Umesh Pal’s murder have so far been gunned down. Police are still looking for Guddu Muslim, who allegedly lobbed a bomb during the shooting, and another alleged shooter, Sabir.

The FIR said Guddu Muslim had also gone to Jhansi immediately after Umesh Pal’s murder and stayed at the house of one Satish Pandey.

According to police sources, Asad Ahmad had fled to Lucknow after the killing of Umesh Pal. He later moved to Kanpur and then Meerut before reaching Delhi, it is learnt. He then decided to flee to Madhya Pradesh. He reached Jhansi and was on his way to the state border on a bike when police intercepted him. Asad was reportedly in disguise.

Asad Ahmed’s encounter: BJP holds encounters in name of religion, says Owaisi

Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi condemned Uttar Pradesh’s governing Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday after Asad Ahmad, an accused in the murder of Umesh Pal, whose father Atiq Ahmad is also mentioned in the case, died in a police encounter.

Speaking in Telangana’s Nizamabad, he questioned whether ‘the BJP (would) also shoot those who killed Junaid and Nasir’, referring to two men reportedly slain by cow vigilantes in February; their burnt remains were discovered in an SUV in Haryana.

“Will the BJP also shoot those who murdered Junaid and Nasir? Will the BJP also carry out encounter killings of individuals responsible for the deaths of Junaid and Nasir? No, because you (the BJP) conduct encounters in the name of religion,” an enraged Owaisi said.

  • UP: “I’ll be killed in 2 weeks…” says Atiq Ahmed’s brother

UP: “I’ll be killed in 2 weeks…” says Atiq Ahmed’s brother

    [ad_1]

Bareilly: Uttar Pradesh’s mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed’s brother Ashraf Ahmed a convict in the Umesh Pal murder case on Tuesday claimed that an officer revealed that he will be killed in two weeks.

“I have been threatened by an officer that I’ll be taken out of jail in 2 weeks and will be killed,” said Ashraf when he was brought to Bareilly jail on Tuesday.

He further said that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath understands his pain as fake cases were also filed against him.

“Allegations levelled against me are fake. CM understands my pain as fake cases were also filed against him,” he added.

He further claimed that the threat was given by a senior official whose name would be divulged to the Chief Minister, Chief Justice of India and also to the Chief Justice of Allahabad.

“This threat was given by a senior officer. I cannot tell his name, but if I am killed, then the closed envelope will reach the Chief Minister and Supreme Court Chief Justice and Allahabad Chief Justice, it will contain his name,” Ashraf said.

Ashraf along with Atiq Ahmed was held guilty in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case by Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj MP-MLA Court on Tuesday which also sentenced Atiq to rigorous life imprisonment in the abduction case of now-deceased Umesh Pal.

Ashraf was shifted to Bareilly jail while Atiq is being brought to Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail.

This is the first time that Atiq Ahmed, who has over 100 cases against him over the last 43 years, has been convicted in a case.

The court also gave life sentences to Dinesh Pasi and Khan Saulat Hanif and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the three convicts. Seven other accused in the case, including Ashraf, brother of Atiq Ahmed, have been acquitted.

Ahmed’s conviction comes after Umesh Pal, an advocate and a prime witness in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead in Prayagraj on February 24 this year.

Ahmed is also the main accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. Apart from Umesh Pal, his two security personnel were also shot dead.

Ahmed, a former MP and MLA, was brought by Uttar Pradesh Police from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail to Prayagraj’s Naini jail on Monday after an over 24-hour long drive.

Shanti Devi, the mother of Umesh Pal, said after the court’s verdict that Ahmed should have been given a death sentence for “killing” her son.

“He (Atiq Ahmed) was sentenced to life imprisonment for kidnapping my son but he should be given a death sentence for killing my son. I have faith in UP CM Yogi Adityanath and the judicial system,” she told reporters.

BSP MLA Raju Pal was murdered on January 25, 2005. Two others Devilal Pal and Sandeep Yadav were also killed.

Umesh Pal was abducted on February 28, 2006. He was allegedly abducted by Atiq Ahmed from a Land Cruiser vehicle near Phansi Imli of the Dhumanganj police station area.

He was “beaten up and electrocuted” and Atiq had “forced Umesh Pal to give a written statement in his favour on March 1, 2006, that he was not present at the scene and did not want to testify”.

Umesh Pal filed a case of kidnapping at Dhumanganj police station in July 2007 after the formation of the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh that year.
