  • Aspiring UG students to get admissions in KU’s affiliated colleges through CUET from this session

    Srinagar, Mar 05: In line with the UGC guidelines and implementation of National Education Policy-2020, the University of Kashmir will be admitting students to Undergraduate programmes in its affiliated colleges on the basis of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) from the current academic session (2023).

    According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), after taking a review of the impending admission process through CUET, Vice-Chancellor of KU Prof Nilofer Khan said the detailed admission notification for various UG programmes will be available on the Kashmir University website from March-6-2023.

    She said the CUET is being held by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to provide a single-window opportunity to students to seek admission in any of the universities across the country.

    The admissions will be made on the basis of score or merit obtained in the CUET and the students desirous of seeking admission in the varsity’s affiliated colleges have been advised to register themselves with the NTA as per the instructions available on the its website.

    Candidates who had qualifying examination of 10+2 with required eligibility as shown against each programme are eligible to apply.

    Also, the candidates whose 10+2 examination is scheduled during March-April 2023 are also eligible to apply with the rider that they shall be granted admission only after acquiring the requisite eligibility.

    As per the NTA notification, the CUET will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).

    The last date for online submission of application forms is March-12-2023 till 9pm, while the last date for successful transaction of fee through Credit, Debit or NET-Banking is also 12 March 2023 till 11:50 pm.

    The correction in particulars can be made from 15-18 March 2023 till 11.50pm and the announcement date for the City of Examination is 30 April 2023.

    The admit cards can be downloaded from the NTA website in the second week of May 2023 and the date of examination is 21st May 2023 onwards—(KNO)

    Srinagar, Feb 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has asked for maximum participation of students from the affiliated schools in Pariksha Parv to overcome their perception towards the exams stress.

    Director Academics of BOSE in a communiqué to all the Heads of Schools affiliated with the Board has said that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been celebrating exams with its campaign ‘Pariksha Parv’ since 2019.

    According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), BOSE has said, “Pariksha Parv intends to change the outlook and perspective of children towards exams stress and overcome their anxiety before exam result at a platform.”

    “In stressful times, talking about and sharing the uneasy and confusing thoughts would help mitigate stress and anxiety of students to a great extent,” it reads.

    BOSE said that in order to enable students to interact with expert speakers, CPR is celebrating Pariksha Parv 5.0 from February-06-2023 to March-01-2023 and live streaming sessions can be watched on NCPCR social media accounts.

    “These live-streaming sessions can be very beneficial for the children and they can learn from the experts, get a better understanding about their future goals and can get tips on how to cope with examination stress, how to manage time or things to keep in mind while studying, etc., and learn some tips that they can accommodate in their lives,” reads the communiqué.

    The Board has advised Heads of Schools to disseminate the information among the students so that the maximum number of students from your school participate and attend the live sessions and also ask questions to the experts during the live streaming. “Live streaming sessions can be watched from February-06-2023 to March-31-2023.”—(KNO)

  • Implement residential education scheme for SC students: SED to CBSE affiliated schools

    Srinagar, Feb 02: The School Education Department has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools of Kashmir division to implement a residential education scheme for Schedule Caste (SC) students from academic year 2022-23.

    Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) said that the department of Social Justice and Empowerment for Government of India (GoI) is implementing the Scheme of Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESTHA) from the academic year 2022-23.

    According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), DSEK said, “The programme provides opportunities for meritorious Scheduled Caste (SC) boys and girls to study in the best residential schools in the country. The scheme is being implemented from the academic year 2022-23.”

    In a communiqué to principals of CBSE schools, DSEK said, “Every year, the best CBSE schools with residential facilities would be selected for the scheme and each selected school is expected to provide admission for at least ten meritorious SC Boys and Girls selected through the National Entrance Test.”

    According to the official communiqué, the entry for students would be in class 9 and 11 for completion of education up to class 12.

    “The selection of the students would be done through the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA),” it reads.

    The DSEK communiqué further states that every year, 3000 students would be provided fresh admissions under the scheme. “Allocation of schools would be done by web counseling process giving choices to the students and allocating the seats as per merit.”

    “The cost of education of the students will be borne by the Government by directly transferring the money to the school electronically. Apart from this, there would be separate grants for conducting bridge courses if needed for the students,” DSEK said.

    It also said that for the year 2023-24, it is expected that the National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS) would be conducted in April 2023.

    “As such, principals are requested to help in implementation of the scheme in CBSE affiliated schools as per the contents of the guidelines of the scheme so that SC boys and girls can be benefited under this Scheme,” it reads—(KNO)
