    BDL launches new products, signs MoUs at Aero India – 2023

    Hyderabad: Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with several foreign and Indian companies at the ongoing Aero India -2023 event in Bengaluru. BDL has entered into MoU with Thales for setting up manufacturing facilities for Laser Guided Rocket and its major components in India.

    As per the MoU, the Laser Guided Rockets manufactured at the new facility will be offered to the Indian defence forces. The MoU will facilitate BDL to become part of the Thales global supply chain to address the future requirements of Export markets jointly with Thales, said a release from BDL, which is curently showcasing its display of products during the ongoing Aero India – 2023 at Bengaluru,

    An MoU was also signed by BDL with EDGE Group entity, AL TARIQ, UAE to jointly produce the all-weather, day / night, long-range precision- guided munition (LR-PGM) kits in India. BDL signed an MoU with BULTEXPRO LTD, BULGARIA, for setting up the manufacturing facilities for 122mm GRAD BM ER and NON-ER rockets in India under ‘Make in India’ with Transfer of Technology, the released added.

    Aside from that, BDL and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai has entered into MoU to work together on Design and development of propellant grains for various missiles and futuristic weapon systems. BDL entered into MoU with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO), Chennai under which TIDCO and BDL will work on new
    programs with the centre of excellence of TIDCO.

    Commodore Siddharth Mishra (Retd), CMD, BDL expressed that the MoUs signed with the new partners would open new avenues for greater cooperation between the companies / academia.

    New products showcased

    Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has also launched three new products during the ongoing Aero India – 2023 at Bengaluru.

    BDL launched the ‘Vertical Launched – Short – Range Surface- to- Air Missile or VL SR SAM’, ‘Semi-Active Laser Seeker Homing Anti-Tank Guided Missile for BMP – II’ and ‘Drone Delivered Missile’ (JISHNU) during the Bandhan Ceremony held
    on the sidelines of Aero India – 2023.

    The new products were launched in the presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries from the Ministry of Defence. The ‘Vertical Launched – Short – Range Surface to Air Missile Systems’ is designed and developed by DRDO with BDL as the development cum production partner.

    The system is a next – generation, ship-based, all-weather, air defense weapon, which can be used by Navy as a quick reaction point defense against supersonic sea skimming targets. The system includes Missile (Canisterized), Weapon Control System (WCS), Vertical Launcher Unit (VLU), Multi-Function Radar (MFR), Launcher Control System (LCS), Data Link Transciever (DLX) and Inertial Navigation System (INS) – Ship application, said another release from BDL

    Semi-Active Laser Seeker Homing Anti-Tank Guided Missile for BMP – II has been jointly designed and developed by ARDE of DRDO and the in-house R & D Division of BDL to enhance the capability of Infantry and Mechanized Infantry. It is a subsonic missile with a range of 4000 metres and flight time of 25 seconds and can be fired from a tripod or a BMP.

    Bengaluru: Highlighting the close collaboration between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, Israel participated in the Aero India 2023 exhibition marking 30 years of India-Israel defence ties.

    SIBAT, the Israel Ministry of Defence’s International Defence Cooperation Directorate, is leading India-Israel defence cooperation together with various Israeli defence industries at the Aero India 2023 biennial air show and aviation defence exhibition in Bengaluru, India, read Israel Ministry of Defence spokesperson’s statement.

    The Israel Ministry of Defence and Israeli Defence Industries participated in Aero India Defence Exhibition. Various Israeli defence industries are presenting advanced technological solutions that address security challenges faced by many countries around the world today.

    Some of the ground-breaking technologies include Air Defence Systems, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), Aerial and Ground Precise Guided Munitions, Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, Land and Naval solutions, Avionic Systems, Air and Missile Defence Systems, and more, added the statement

    “The Israel Ministry of Defence is happy to take part in the Aero India 2023 exhibition with the Israeli defence industries participating today. The Israeli-made solutions showcased here are just a few examples of the cutting-edge technologies that Israel has to offer in the field of aerial defence, which we are proud to share with our partners,” said Head of SIBAT, Brig Gen (ret) Yair Kulas.

    “This year also marks 30 years of the highly valued partnership between India and Israel that has been key in bolstering India-Israel defence cooperation. This close collaboration between Israeli defence industries and their Indian counterparts has deepened throughout the past years, as both sides have adapted in light of the ‘Make in India’ policy. We look forward to the next 30 years of fruitful collaboration with our Indian partners,” he added.

    Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Asia’s biggest aero show – Aero India 2023 – at Air Force Station in Yelahanka, Bengaluru.

    A commemorative stamp was also released by PM Modi on the occasion.

    The five-day event, on the theme ‘The runway to a billion opportunities’, will showcase India’s aerospace and defence capabilities growth.

    It will display indigenous equipment/technologies and forge partnerships with foreign companies, in line with the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision for a secure and prosperous future.

    ITI Limited has indigenously developed Digital Mobile Radio (DMR). This device uses digital technology along with a time division approach to enable greater levels of efficiency and performance along with improved spectrum usage.

    DMR aims to provide an affordable, low-complexity digital standard to replace analog radio. DMR based VHF/UHF radios are used in many applications such as military communications, police, railways, public safety, traffic control, disaster management, industrial security and communications etc. The VHF/UHF radio can be used in direct-to-direct communication in Tier I, Tier II or in multi-site environments in Tier II, Tier III modes.

    In the Space sector, ITI Limited’s Palakkad Plant was recently appreciated by ISRO for realising the flight packages with respect to launch of LVM3 M2/OneWeb India-1 Mission in a time-bound manner meeting all Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) quality norms.

    Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police on Monday issued prohibitory orders on all flying objects during the Aero India 2023 over security reasons in the city.

    Flying of all sub-conventional aerial platforms such as unmanned aerial vehicles, robotic process automation, para gliders, micro lights, small aircraft, drones, quad-helicopters, are prohibited against the backdrop of the event, an official release stated.

    “I consider that it is absolutely necessary to ban the flying of all sub-conventional aerial platforms as these can carry explosives and be used as weapons or surveillance objects to threaten, damage, injure and kill people and destroy properties in the premises where event is hosted and in the limits of Bengaluru city,” Police Commissioner Pratap Reddy stated.

    The prohibition will be in place between February 13 and 17.

    New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 14th edition of ‘Aero India 2023’ at Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru on Monday.

    The Asia’s largest aero show will showcase the country’s progress in design leadership, growth in UAVs Sector, Defence Space and futuristic technologies. Further, it will also promote the export of indigenous air platforms like Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Tejas, HTT-40, Dornier Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH).

    Being organised in an area of around 35,000 sq metre, it will be the biggest-ever event till date, and is likely to witness the participation of 98 countries.

    The Defence Ministers of 32 countries, Air Chiefs of 29 countries and 73 CEOs of global and Indian OEMs are expected to attend the event.

    As many as 809 defence companies, including MSMEs and start-ups, will showcase the advancement in niche technologies and the growth in aerospace and defence sector.

    According to the Ministry of Defence, the major exhibitors include Airbus, Boeing, Dassault Aviation, Lockheed Martin, Israel Aerospace Industry, BrahMos Aerospace, Army Aviation, HC Robotics, SAAB, Safran, Rolls Royce, Larsen & Toubro, Bharat Forge Limited, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and BEML Limited.

    About five lakh visitors are expected to attend the event physically and many millions more will connect through television and internet.

    As per the ministry, the focus will be on showcasing indigenous equipment, technologies and establishing partnerships with foreign companies, in line with ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision for a secure and prosperous future.

    Addressing the curtain raiser programme on February 12, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Aero India 2023 will showcase the country’s manufacturing prowess and the progress achieved towards realising the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ as envisioned by the Prime Minister. This event will significantly contribute to the development of the aerospace and aviation sector, he asserted.

    February 13-15 will be business days, while February 16-17 will be for public visit. The event comprises a Defence Ministers’ Conclave, a CEOs Round Table, Manthan start-up event, Bandhan ceremony, breath-taking air shows, a large exhibition, India Pavilion and a trade fair of aerospace companies.

    The Defence Minister termed the record international participation as the reflection of not just India’s buyer-seller ties with different countries, but also their shared vision of global prosperity.

    “Spanning five days, the event, on the theme ‘The runway to a billion opportunities’, will radiate the rise of a strong and self-reliant ‘New India’ by displaying India’s growth in aerospace and defence capabilities… It will integrate domestic MSMEs and start-ups in global supply chain and attract foreign investments including the partnerships for co-development and co-production,” Singh added.

    Bengaluru: The flight operation at the KempeGowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAL) will be affected in the backdrop of Aero India Show 2023 scheduled to be held between February 13 and 17. The authorities have announced that the flight services will be partially suspended for 10 days from Wednesday ahead of the 14th edition of the show.

    The show will be held at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru and the preparations are in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Bengaluru to inaugurate the spectacular international show of metal birds.

    “There will be partial air space closure during Aero India 2023 impacting commercial flight schedules between 08 -17 February, 2023,” the official announcement of KIAL stated. The passengers have been asked to look into the official portal to know more about the flight schedules.

    The KIAL has announced airspace closure timings and for queries on revised, changed flight schedule, passengers are asked to get connected to their respective airline. “We request all passengers travelling through Bengaluru airport during this period to plan the travel time accordingly,” the statement said.

    The Bengaluru airport flight operation would be closed for rehearsals between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on February 8. On February 12 it will remain closed from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the same reason.

    On February 13, flight operations will be closed between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. for the inauguration ceremony and Air Display. On February 14 and 15, the Bengaluru airport would be closed for Air Display between 12 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.

    On February 16 and 17, the flight operations will be suspended from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m for Air Display.

    Tel Aviv: Israel Aerospace Industries will sign a series of Memorandums of Understanding with Indian defense contractors at an Indian defense exhibition next week.

    The Aero India 2023 show, India’s largest defense exhibition, begins on Sunday at the Yelahanka Airforce Base in Bengaluru (Bangalore) in southern India.

    The biannual event brings together leading figures in the aviation industry with the business, defence, and government sectors to strike deals and explore areas of cooperation among the pavilions where businesses showcase their products.

    The IAI will display a number of its aerial drones, a mini communications satellite, a supersonic, long-range air-ground assault rocket, and an electronic warfare system designed to detect and disrupt ground and airborne threats among other items.

    Israeli defense exports to India are reportedly USD 1.5 billion- USD 2 billion annually. The IAI has provided the Indian Armed Forces with air and missile defense systems, satellites, radars, unmanned aerial systems, and training platforms.

    The IAI is also working with Indian authorities to develop and produce military technologies for use in the air, land, and sea.

    “We are very excited to be back in India for Aero India, which brings together some of our leading partners in the defense sector,” said IAI President and CEO Boaz Levy in a statement

    “We have been working closely with the Indian defense industry for more than 30 years and we look forward to further collaboration following the exhibition.
