  • NTA Announces Admission Through CUET-PG

    SRINAGAR: National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued application forms for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for PG courses for the 2023-24 session. The applications are to be made via online mode only using the official website. Interested candidates can apply between March 20 and April 19, 2023 up to 5 PM.

    The examination fee is to be successfully submitted until 11:50 PM on April 19, 2023. The correction window for the CUET PG- 2023 has been announced between April 20 and April 23, 2023.

    The general category candidates can fill three test papers as per their eligibility and pay a fee of INR 1000. The candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/EWS categories have to pay INR 800 as fees while for the candidates belonging to PwBD, the fees is INR 700. The charges are fixed at INR 750 for ST/SC and Third Gender applicants. Applicants can further fill up to seven test papers as per their eligibility and interest and pay additional charges of INR 500 for general category applicants and INR 400 for candidates belonging to other categories.

    Candidates opting for test centers out of India will have to pay INR 5000 for up to three test papers irrespective of the category they belong to and will have to pay additional charges of INR 1500 for additional subjects.

    The duration of the computer-based test is two hours. The examination will be held in two shifts. Shift 1 is timed 10 AM- 12 PM and the timing for the second shift is 3 PM- 5 PM. The test is a single window to attain admission to any central university or other participating institutions (including private and state universities) across India.

    Steps to Apply for KUET PG Entrance 2023:

    The candidates are advised to follow the below steps for filling of On-Line Application Forms for KUET (Kashmir University).

    Step-1: Visit http://www.kashmiruniversity.net or www.kashmiruniversity.ac.in and click on Link Admissions. Read Important Instructions for Registration and Submission of Form carefully before proceeding further.

    Step-2: Candidate needs to register himself/herself before submitting the Online Application Form. For Registration with the System Click on the “Register as Student”. Remember, the Username and Password for future reference.

    Step-3: After successful Registration, login into the system for submitting On-line Application Form.

    Enter your “Registration No.” and Click “Next”.

    Step-4: Enter the required details and Upload your latest passport size Photograph and click “Next”.

    Step-5: Select the desired Preferences (After last date the Preference of Campus/College selected will not be updated/changed). Click “Next”.

    Step-6: If there is  any variation click  on “Previous” button, make necessary corrections  and then Click “Submit”. Get a printout of the Form and note the Form No. for future reference.

    Step-7: Deposit the non-refundable “Application Fee of Rs. 250/- (including Rs. 150/- as IT Fee) and Entrance Test fee of Rs. 500/-“ i.e Rs. 750/- for one Programme and Rs. 250/- for each subsequent Programmes, through Online mode only.

    Step-8: Applicant can view the Application details by providing username and password. Applicant is required to make sure that “Application Status” on application form is “Fee Received” after 3 days otherwise application will be treated as incomplete and summarily rejected.

    Submission of downloaded Application Forms (Hard Copy):

    Candidates need not to submit the  hard  copy  of  the  Application  Form;  however,  they  must take printout of the online  submitted  Application  Form  and  retain  it  with  themselves  for future reference.

    Additional information:

    • Directorate will not check/verify the educational/category certificates etc. of the candidates at the time of appearing in the written examination and it will be the sole responsibility of the candidate to satisfy whether he/she is meeting the prescribed criterion. However, the documents will be verified at any point of time during process of Admission. The admission will be rejected if it is found that the applicant does not fulfill the eligibility criteria or has misrepresented/suppressed the information.
    • The candidates must check the status of their Application Forms after three days of its online submission. In case, the status of Application is not updated to “Fee Received” or “Fee Reconciliation is pending”, the candidate should contact the Directorate of IT & SS, University of Kashmir, along with Application Form and all other documents, within two days after the last date of submission of Application Form. Thereafter, no claim, whatsoever, will be entertained by the University.
    • Submission of Application Forms and appearance in the Entrance Test is subject to determination of eligibility for admission to the Programme by reference to the Admission Policy-2023.
    • The detailed Date Sheet for conduct of Entrance Test shall be issued separately.
    • Notification for Self Financed Seats shall be issued after  issuance  of  1st selection  list. However, only those candidates  shall  be  considered  for  admission  under  Self  Financed Seats Category, who have applied and appeared in the Entrance Test of subject concerned.

    The Admission  Notification  for  Management,  B.Tech,  BA-LL.B.  etc.  Programmes/Courses will be issued separately.

    SRINAGAR: A group of Jammu parents with school-aged children held a protest against the recently implemented National Education Policy. The demonstration, organized by the All Jammu Parents Association, was led by Amit Kapoor and took place at Hari Singh Park, reports reaching from Jammu said.

    The parents were protesting against the new policy’s age limit requirement for admission into the first class. They argued that children who are currently in Upper KG or UKG, and whose ages fall just short of six years, are being denied entry into first grade.

    During the protest, the parents chanted slogans against the policy and demanded that the minimum age limit for class I admission be relaxed. Amit Kapoor suggested that the age criteria should be implemented from nursery or pre-nursery and that children who are already studying should be admitted to first grade. Kapoor also urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene and grant age relaxation, citing the Goa government’s decision to delay the implementation of the new policy until 2025-26.

    The parents emphasized that the current policy had caused distress to many children and parents alike, and appealed for the sake of their children’s future.

    Jammu and Kashmir implemented the National Education Policy that was rolled out in India in July 2020, and aims to revamp the country’s education system. One of the policy’s objectives is to ensure that every child receives high-quality education from an early age. To achieve this, the policy sets forth certain age limits for admission into various classes.

    As per the current policy, children must be at least six years old to be admitted into class I. This criterion is based on research that suggests that children of this age are developmentally ready to transition from pre-primary education to formal schooling.

    However, some parents have argued that this age limit is too rigid, and that it fails to take into account the individual developmental needs of each child. They contend that children who are slightly younger than six years old but have already completed UKG are just as capable of succeeding in class I as their peers who meet the age requirement.

    SRINAGAR:  The University of Kashmir on Wednesday issued a detailed notification for Kashmir University Entrance Test (KUET) for admission to various PG, professional and other programmes for the academic session 2023.

    Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan had earlier this month reviewed the varsity’s preparedness for the KUET and instructed timely issuance of the admission notification for timely start of the new academic session.

    The issuance of the admission notification comes in line with the admission calendar adopted at the Admission Advisory Committee chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.

    “On-line Applications are invited from the eligible candidates (who have done Bachelors in different subjects) for appearing in Kashmir University Entrance Test (KUET) for admission to Professional and Non-Professional Programmes for the academic session 2023,” reads the admission notification issued by KU’s Directorate of Admissions and Competitive Examinations.

    However, the candidates who have passed their qualifying examination under Choice-Based Credit System scheme are eligible/can apply for admission to the PG Programme(s) only in such subjects where he/she has earned/obtained at least 24 credits in Core or Generic Elective Courses at Under-Graduate Level.

    “For the courses/programmes where there is open eligibility like LL.B, MA Mass Communication & Journalism, MA Library & Information Science, MA Linguistics, MA Anthropology, MA Social Work etc., the candidates having passed their qualifying examination in any discipline are eligible/can apply for admission to said programmes,” the notification reads.

    The submission of online application forms starts on 20 March 2023 and the last date for submission of online application forms and deposition of online application/entrance fee is April 7, 2023.

    The detailed admission notification which includes guide to submission of online application forms, eligibility, subject combinations and all other additional information is available on the University website www.kashmiruniversity.net.

    “Eligible candidates must carefully go through the Admission Notification and all the detailed instructions therein so that the submission of applications becomes completely easy for them,” said Director Admissions, Prof Farooq A Mir.

    “The detailed datesheet for conduct of the KUET will be issued and notified separately,” he said.
