UP civic polls: Adityanath says BJP govt ‘put Aligarh lock’ on riots in state

    [ad_1]

Aligarh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the double-engine government of the BJP has “put an Aligarh lock” on riots in the state.

Campaigning for the second phase of urban local body polls in Aligarh, which is famous for its locks, Adityanath hit out at opposition parties for promoting “tamancha (countrymade pistol) culture” in the state.

The chief minister also held public meetings in Budaun, Shahjahanpur and Bareilly, and talked about law and order and development in his speeches in these districts.

    MS Education Academy

“The double-engine government of the BJP has put an Aligarh lock over riots in the state and made UP riot-free,” Adityanath said in Aligarh.

“Double-engine” is a term often used by BJP leaders to refer to the party ruling at the Centre and in a state.

In an apparent reference to the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party, the CM said people with ‘parivarvadi’ (dynastic) and ‘jaativadi’ (casteist) mindset gave ‘tamanchas’ to the youth after coming to power.

“We changed this tamancha culture and provided tablets to two crore youths,” he said.

Adityanath said Aligarh is known all over the world for its locks and the BJP government is working towards its revival.

“The lock industry (of Aligarh) will be given a global platform with the help of one district one product initiative,” he said.

“Taala (locks), taaleem (education) and tehzeeb (culture) of Aligarh were once its identity. But the casteist mindset of the dynastic parties has shut down the lock industry of Aligarh, and created obstructions,” he said.

“These casteist and dynastic parties have nothing to do with education and culture. They adopted the policy of divide and rule and used it to divide society on the basis of appeasement. They made an effort to increase the gulf in society. As a result of this, there was an atmosphere of fear among the people even during festivals,” Adityanath said.

Aligarh will vote in the second phase of the urban local body polls on May 11. The counting of votes will take place on May 13.

Adityanath said people of the state were forced to face curfews for a long time.

“But today, you are seeing Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh and India transforming. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the perception about India has changed, and Indians are seen with respect wherever they go,” he said.

“What could not be achieved in the last 60-65 years has been done in nine years. The government has worked hard to put an end to terrorism, Naxalism and separatism in the country,” he said.

Referring to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Adityanath credited the efforts of the BJP’s double-engine government to resolve a 500-year-old dispute.

“Today, Kashi Vishwanath Dhaam is being constructed in Kashi, whereas Mathura and Vrindavan are being decorated. Along with this, beautification of Naimisharanya, Vindhyavasini Dham, Lalapur of (sage) Valmiki and Rajapur of Tulsidas (both in Chitrakoot) is also underway,” he said.

The CM also said that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with the Airports Authority of India for the building of an airport in Aligarh.

“We are going to connect it with air service and for the extension of the airport, Rs 700 crore has already been released,” he said.

“In addition, construction of the four-lane highway from Ghaziabad to Kanpur via Aligarh is going on at a fast pace,” Adityanath said, adding that a power plant is being set up at Harduaganj which will make Aligarh the centre of energy production.

The chief minister also said that the BJP’s double-engine government has named a university after Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh, who fought for the country’s independence and also donated land for the Aligarh Muslim University, although there is no “shilapat (nameplate) of his in the AMU”.

Addressing a rally in Badaun, Adityanath said till six years ago, dynastic parties used to give pistols to the youth.

“The youth are becoming self-reliant as we are combining talent of Uttar Pradesh with technology and training. As a result of this, UP is rapidly becoming the growth engine of India’s development,” the CM said.

In Shahjahanpur, he said that festivals have replaced nuisance and disorder in the state of today. “The atmosphere of fear and panic is over now. People celebrate festivals peacefully and with joy. Now there is no curfew, instead Kanwar yatras are taken out peacefully,” he added.

In Bareilly, the CM said the city earlier known as a garbage dump has turned into a smart city. “Bareilly has an airport. Four-lane and six-lane roads are being constructed,” he said.

BJP taking country on path of progress: Yogi Adityanath in poll-bound Karnataka

    [ad_1]

Mangaluru: Raising the pitch for the BJP’s election campaign in south Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held massive roadshows at Puttur and Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district and Karkala in Udupi.

Adityanath, who first arrived in Puttur, where party candidate Asha Thimmappa Gowda is pitted against Ashok Kumar Rai of Congress and a BJP rebel Arun Kumar Puthila, said the BJP is taking the country on path of progress.

Addressing the gathering from the campaign vehicle after the end of his roadshow, Adityanath said the Congress has always been trying to put hurdles on the path of progress.

    MS Education Academy

Though the Congress tried to prevent the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the BJP successfully fought the issue in court and the temple will turn into a reality in the near future, he said.

The Congress is now after Bajrang Dal as the party is against patriotic people and try out to demoralise those who uphold nationalist policies, he said.

Adityanath said the people of Karnataka should vote for a Team India’ to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the BJP has fielded the best candidate in Puttur and asked voters to support Asha Thimmappa Gowda.

Adityanath later campaigned for State Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar at Karkala in Udupi, where also the BJP is facing an unlikely rebel in the form of Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik. Congress has fielded Muniyalu Uday Shetty, a confidante of former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily in the seat.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister held a grand roadshow in Karkala and spoke to the gathering in a few words exhorting them to vote for a “double engine” government for sustained progress.

At the final roadshow of the day at B C Road in Bantwal, where BJP’s young leader and incumbent MLA Rajesh Naik is facing former Minister B Ramanath Rai of Congress, Adityanath was given a rousing welcome by enthusiastic party workers.

Addressing the huge gathering, Adityanath called upon the people of Karnataka to stop the Congress from coming to power as the party has declared intention to ban patriotic organisations like the Bajrang Dal. “Congress is always blocking the path to progress initiated by the BJP government under Narendra Modi,” he said.

In a passionate speech, he also invited the people of Karnataka to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh when the Ram temple will be inaugurated in January next year, to the loud cheers from the public.

In all the three meetings, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and leaders including candidates in the respective segments accompanied Adityanath.

Mafias who demanded ‘goonda tax’ earlier now begging for their lives: Adityanath

    [ad_1]

Maharajganj: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday claimed that mafias and other criminals used to forcibly occupy the land of the poor and demand “goonda tax” under previous governments, but the state is free of anarchy under the BJP and there is rule of law.

Adityanath, who was addressing public meetings in eastern Uttar Pradesh – one of poorest regions and a hotbed of mafias and gangsters, sought to woo voters for the upcoming urban body elections by harping on the planks of law and order and development.

The chief minister asserted that security was now guaranteed in the state. “Earlier, the mafia used to demand goonda tax, but today, they are begging for their lives,” he said.

    MS Education Academy

The BJP leader alleged that earlier, the SP, BSP and the Congress used to hand out pistols to the youths of the state, but the incumbent government gives youngsters tablet computers.

“SP and BSP used to spread corruption and encouraged criminalisation of politics, diversion of funds and embezzlement in welfare schemes, but today the benefits of development schemes reach every poor,” the chief minister said at an election meeting in Deoria.

He charged the previous governments with turning Deoria from a sugar bowl to a bowl of bitterness.

“These people sold the sugar mills at a throwaway price… Because of their disgusting politics, they also created an identity crisis for the youth of the state and forced the farmers to commit suicide.

‘But we will restore Deoria to its existence again. A distillery will also be set up here along with ethanol plants,” he said.

The chief minister said that the atmosphere of fear that used to be created during festivals till six years ago is no longer there.

Addressing a conference of traders in Gorakhpur earlier, Adityanath said, “Earlier, the ruling party’s goons or the mafia used to forcibly occupy the property and the lands of the poor, but now, Uttar Pradesh has become free of anarchy and there is rule of law in the state.”

The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has maintained that it follows a zero-tolerance policy against the mafia and over 18O criminals have been killed so far in encounters with the police in the state. However, it has been accused by the Opposition and others of high-handedness and bias.

The criminals killed in encounters in the six years of Yogi Adityanath government included gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad’s son Asad and his accomplice.

The UP Police data shows that more than 10,900 police encounters have taken place in the state since March 2017, when Adityanath took over as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the first time.In these encounters, 23,300 alleged criminals were arrested and 5,046 were injured.

Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Adityanath also listed the development works of the central and state governments.

Speaking in Maharajganj later at an election meeting, the chief minister claimed, “Earlier, traders used to walk with their heads bowed while criminals and mafia used to go around fearlessly, but now that has been reversed. Cities are being made safe.”

The BJP’s ‘double-engine’ government is leading the state on the path of progress, he said and urged voters to form a “triple-engine government” by electing its candidates in the civic polls.

He spoke of medical facilities being enhanced in the state.

Those who divide the society in the name of caste are not going to succeed at all, Adityanath said, adding that the BJP government has completely checked such divisions.

There is a double-engine government in Uttar Pradesh and development work is going on at double speed, he added.

Before 2017, most of the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Maharajganj, used to suffer from encephalitis, but now, this disease has been brought under control. Vantangia villages of the district has also joined the mainstream of development, the chief minister said.

The Vantangiya community comprises people brought from Myanmar during colonial rule to plant trees for afforestation.

The chief minister also sought votes for BJP candidates in a public meeting in Kushinagar.

“Earlier infectious disease on one side and hunger on the other troubled the people. Nine years ago, when the public blessed PM Modi, he changed the picture of the country. The Kushinagar people who were stranded in Sudan were safely transported here,” the chief minister said.

He maintained that willpower is necessary to bring change.

“There was once an atmosphere of fear and panic during the festivals six years ago. Today, there is no nuisance in UP. Festivals shape the identity of the new Uttar Pradesh.”

He pointed out that under the SP-BSP regime, water was supplied by installing generators and electricity was only available for a scant 2-4 hours per day.

We are working to provide water to every household in UP. “Kushinagar is our top priority,” he asserted.

Adityanath compares UP civic polls to `Deva-Asura War’

    [ad_1]

Sitapur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday termed the upcoming urban body elections as the “Deva-Asura Sangram”, a battle between the gods and their enemies, and said it is necessary to teach the corrupt and the mafia a lesson.

Addressing an election meeting ahead of the state-wide civic polls on May 4 and 11, the chief minister assured the development of the sacred Naimisharanya site in Sitapur.

“Naimisharanya will undergo a facelift on the lines of Kashi, Ayodhya and Mathura. After Naimisharanya’s rejuvenation, religious tourism will create employment opportunities in every sector,” he said in Sitapur.

    MS Education Academy

Adityanath also addressed meetings in Lakhimpur Kheri and Balrampur as part of the campaign.

He compared the civic polls to the war between the gods and the demons.

“In this land of Naimisharanya, Maharishi Dadhichi once donated his bones to make weapons for the victory of the divine forces,” he said, adding the elections provided an opportunity to teach a lesson to the corrupt and the criminals who flourished under the previous regimes in the state.

The BJP has been attacking the opposition Samajwadi Party for allegedly giving patronage to criminals when it was in power.

At another meeting, the CM said before 2017, when the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh, there was hooliganism in the state and a “goonda tax” collected from traders.

But now nobody has the courage to demand it, he said.

“Basic facilities will start to reach every home as soon as the ‘third engine’ joins the ‘double-engine government,” he said, referring to the BJP governments already in UP and at the Centre.

“The benefits of the government’s schemes will be made available to everyone without discrimination,” Adityanath added.

In Lakhimpur Kheri, he said along with facilities like four-lane roads, technical education, the area will soon have a medical college and its airstrip developed into an airport.

Lakhimpur will serve as a hub of ecotourism, which will open new avenues for the region’s development, he said.

He claimed only the BJP reached out to people during the Covid pandemic.

“We also provided a free ration facility. Whether it is welfare schemes for the poor or the infrastructure, we have taken care of everything,” he said.

Votes polled in the two-phase election will be counted on May 13. PTI

Gadkari praises CM Adityanath for controlling crime in UP, compares him with Lord Krishna

    [ad_1]

Gorakhpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday heaped praise on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for controlling the law and order situation in the state and compared him with Lord Krishna who “came on the earth to end the evil”.

Gadkari, who was in the state to inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several national highway projects worth a total of Rs 13,500 crore, reiterated efforts to lay expressway network in UP in a bid to make roads in the state at par with that of the United States.

“Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken strict measures to protect people from the evil and dangerous tendencies in the society. On behalf of the people of the country and in my personal capacity, I congratulate him for the steps he has taken,” the road transport and highways minister said here after laying the foundation stone of and inaugurating various national highway projects worth Rs 10,000 crore.

Referring to a recent conversation with his wife, the Union minister said, “My wife asked me as to what is happening in Uttar Pradesh. When I told her about the measures taken by the state government in the last six years to rein in crime, she told me about epic Bhagwat Gita in which the lord has said that he will take incarnation whenever there is injustice and will end the evil.”

“As the Lord Krishna did, Yogi ji is also acting in a similar way, for safeguarding the gentle (sajjan) people. He has taken strong steps against the people having a mean attitude and are dangerous for society,” Gadkari said in presence of Adityanath on the dais.

Gorakhpur has been ‘karmabhoomi’ of CM Adityanath. He has been elected from there to Lok Sabha several times and is presently an MLA from Gorakhpur Urban constituency.

I am happy that Yogi ji has set an ideal about law and order situation. I had said earlier that we will make the roads of Uttar Pradesh at par with America’s, and our efforts have started in that direction.

“Yogi ji, I assure you that gradually the flight service from Delhi to Lucknow will stop as people will be made to think whether to go by plane or by road. In our country, infrastructure has got priority under the leadership of (Narendra) Modi ji,” Gadkari said.

Strict action to check crimes in UP and demolition of illegal properties of mafias and wrongdoers with the help of bulldozers have been making news very often in the state.

The stern measures in this regard has earned CM Adityanath the nickname “Bulldozer Baba”.
Gadkari said that looking at the changing picture of UP, the way investment is coming in, “I believe that UP will definitely become a happy and prosperous state under the leadership of Yogi ji”.

The development of roads in UP will remove poverty, hunger and unemployment in the state, he said, adding that there is a need to bring the automobile industry in UP so that more and more youths get employment.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Adityanath said that today with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a strong network of road infrastructure is visible in the entire country.

“The credit for this goes to Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari under the guidance of the prime minister. Highway construction is going on across the country and Gadkari ji has taken its pace to a new height. The world is amazed that despite the biggest pandemic of the century, India’s economy is growing at such a fast pace. Its basis is strong infrastructure,” Adityanath said.

Later, in Mahoba, Gadkari in the presence of the chief minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones of nine national highway projects worth Rs 3,500 crore, an official release said.

Gadkari said Mahoba was the land of brave warriors and had a rich history.

With the construction of Jhansi-Khajuraho road, the traffic will ease in Maihar-Singrauli-Ranchi industrial division and Jhansi-Orchha-Khajuraho route and tourism of the state will get a boost, the release said.

Gadkari said with the construction of Kabrai section on the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh border, the traffic in the Bhopal-Kanpur industrial division till Lucknow will be smooth.

The Union minister also said the construction of road over bridge between Jhansi and Prayagraj will facilitate traffic in Bundelkhand region.

Gadkari announced to expand 258 km Ramvangaman road in Chitrakoot to four lanes. He also announced to build 15 km four-lane bypass at a cost of Rs 200 crore in Chitrakoot, 18 km four-lane bypass in Mahoba and 15 km 4-lane bypass in Artara along with four-laning of 70 km stretch from Prayagraj to Mirzapur.

Gorakhpur riot case: Man fined over repeated petitions against Adityanath

    [ad_1]

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on a man for filing repeated petitions against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the 2007 Gorakhpur riot case in spite of the issue being settled by the Supreme Court.

On January 27, 2007, a Hindu man was killed in a clash between two groups during a Muharram procession in Gorakhpur.

The petitioner Parvez Parwaz, a journalist, filed a complaint on September 26, 2008, alleging that Adityanath, the then local MP of the BJP, had delivered speeches seeking revenge for the death of the youth and that he had videos of the same.

Subsequently, the state government declined to grant sanction for prosecution.

The applicant challenged the government decision before the high court which dismissed his petition. Later, he challenged the decision of the high court before the Supreme Court, which too dismissed it.

The applicant had challenged the decision of the trial court dated October 11, 2022, wherein the court had rejected the protest petition against the final report of police in the riot case.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh dismissed the petition of Parwaz and another under section 482 (inherent powers of high court) of the Criminal Procedure Code, and imposed the cost of Rs 1 lakh which has to be deposited in the Army Welfare Fund Battle Casualties within four weeks, failing which the same shall be recovered as arrears of land revenue from estates/assets of the petitioner.

The court observed, “The petitioner appears to be a busy body who himself is facing several criminal cases, and he has been fighting this case since 2007. The petitioner must have been incurring huge expenses in engaging counsels to contest this case before the trial court, this court and the Supreme Court.”

Appearing for the applicant, senior advocate S F A Naqvi argued that the “question of legality of the order, refusing sanction for prosecution, was left open by the Supreme Court and, therefore, it cannot be said that the issue had attained finality”.

Appearing for the state government, Additional Advocate General Manish Goyal argued that the “issues raised in the protest petition and in this petition had attained finality up to the Supreme Court”.

“The petitioner cannot be permitted to raise the same issues time and again,” he said.

The high court, after hearing the parties concerned, observed, “I find that the trial court has rightly refused to go into the said question once it has been decided by the Supreme Court.”

After 500 yrs, Lord Ram will adorn the throne at Ayodhya within a year: Adityanath

    [ad_1]

Agartala: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that after 500 years, Lord Ram would adorn the throne of Ram temple in Ayodhya even as the CPI-M and the Congress do not believe in the existence of Lord Ram or Krishna.

Addressing an election rally at Majlishpur in western Tripura on Wednesday, the Chief Minister added that the Ram temple would be ready within a year and Lord Ram after sitting in his throne would give all of us his blessings.

“The Congress and the CPI-M have believed only in corruption and violence. Tripura was once infamous during the regime of Congress and CPI-M,” Adityanath said, adding that after the BJP-led government came to power (in 2018) in the state, peace and good governance have prevailed.

Saying that during the regime of the Congress and CPI-M the benefit of development and welfare did not reach to the people, he claimed that now Tripura has become one of the developed states in the country.

The double-engine government provided a lot from connectivity to welfare of the people, the Chief Minister said.

“People voted for the BJP, and the BJP government gave huge developmental gifts to the people. The Tripura government aiming to empower the women introduced 33 per cent reservation for the women in government jobs. Be it Awas Yojana or farmers’ welfare scheme to health scheme, the Modi government has given everything to the common and poor people.”

Adityanath also alleged that the Congress and CPI-M are trying to derail the development mission of the double-engine governments and their only aim is to keep the people backward to reap political dividends.

The Chief Minister said that corruption was at its peak when Congress ruled the country.

“The country witnessed the Congress’ coal scam, 2G scam, defence equipment procurement scandal and the Commonwealth Games scam. Corruption became synonymous with Congress,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Adityanath is attack on Hindutva: Seer council chief

    [ad_1]

Ballia: Shankaracharya Parishad chief Swami Anand Swaroop on Wednesday hit out at Rahul Gandhi, saying his recent remarks on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was an attack on Hindutva.

On Monday, Congress leader Gandhi asserted that no religion talks about spreading hate and said Adityanath cannot be a religious leader for the language he uses.

During an interaction with civil society members on the recently-concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra in Delhi, Gandhi had alleged that Adityanath was “insulting” the history of his Gorakhnath Math by the kind of language he was using.

“I am sorry, he (Adityanath) is not a religious leader, he is a common thug,” Gandhi, was quoted as saying by an attendee at the meeting, which was not open to the media.

In a video released on Facebook, Swaroop said, “Calling a ‘siddh mahant’ and yogi of a ‘siddh peeth’, who has no one of his own, a thug will not be tolerated. Yogi Adityanath is chief minister later, first he is a seer and a monk of a ‘siddha peeth’.”

The chief the parishad, a council of seers, said that “an attack on a monk is an attack on Hindutva”.

Demanding that the Uttar Pradesh government immediately file a case against Gandhi, he said the Congress leader has insulted a “yogi” to serve his political motives.

Swaroop alleged that Gandhi’s remarks, will prove to costly for his party and him.

Alleging that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is giving patronage to his party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, who had made remarks against the ‘Ramcharitmanas’ recently, Swaroop said that Maurya himself lost the assembly election and cannot steer the ship of the party.

“When Swami Prasad Maurya has become a Buddhist, how can he remain a Maurya now? How can he declare himself the leader of the backward class? Backward class is the soul of Hindutva,” he said.
