    UAE’s job loss insurance scheme: 2 more categories added

    The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has added two new classes of employees who can participate in the UAE’s job loss scheme.

    The MoHRE’s Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILoE) scheme allows employees who work in free zones and semi-government entities to sign up as well.

    The Ministry mandated the purchase of job loss insurance for private sector and federal government employees on January 1.

    Employees with a base salary of less than 16,000 dirhams are required to pay a premium of 5 dirhams per month, or 60 dirhams per year, along with VAT under the ILoE insurance plan.

    They will be remunerated with 60% of the typical fundamental compensation for the employment cutback for three back-to-back months. While representatives with a fundamental compensation of over 16,000 dirhams are expected to pay 10 dirhams per month or 120 dirhams yearly premiums under this plan.

    One or two years are available for the policy period. Dubai Insurance, the ILOE website, Al Ansari Exchange, and ATMs all offer subscription options.

    The number of supporters surpassed 1,000,000 since its send-off in January the service said toward the beginning of April.

    A notice posted on the ILoE website showed that individuals working in semi-government substances or organizations enlisted in a UAE free zone buy-in by continuing to the “Non-Enrolled in MoHRE” connect on the ILoE entryway.

    Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation approached employees that are qualified to buy into the plan to profit from inclusion, and on employers to encourage their employees to subscribe to the scheme.

    As many as 16.03 lakh new employees have joined the Employees State Insurance Scheme (ESI) in February, 2023, as per provisional payroll data released by Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on Tuesday.

    As per the data, around 11,000 new establishments have been registered under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme ensuring social security cover to their employees.

    Employees up to the age group of 25 years constitute the majority of new registrations, as 7.42 lakh employees constituting 46 per cent of the total employees added in the month, belong to this age group.

    It shows that the youth of the nation are getting good employment opportunities in the country, the Ministry of Labour and Employment said.

    Gender-wise analysis of payroll data of February, 2023 indicates addition of 3.12 lakh female workers under the ESI Scheme. The data shows that a total 49 transgender employees also registered under ESI Scheme in the month of February 2023.

    It shows that ESIC is committed to deliver its benefits to every section of the society, the Ministry said. The payroll data is provisional since the data generation is a continuous exercise.

    Saudi Arabia approves hiring female drivers; 12 new professions added

    Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has permitted the hiring of female drivers as part of new professions allowed for recruitment designated for domestic labour.

    The Kingdom’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has approved hiring domestic labour services in 13 new professions available for recruitment via Musaned electronic platform.

    The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said on Twitter that new jobs can be recruited through its online platform, Musaned, as part of efforts to develop the domestic labour sector and meet the needs of the country.

    Among the new professions available to domestic workers are driver, personal care worker, home tailor, home manager, private tutor and home farmer.  

    13 new professions are:

    • Private speech and hearing specialist

    The number of domestic workers in Saudi Arabia reached 3.5 million in the third quarter of 2022, an increase of nearly 193,000 against the second quarter of 2022, Arabic daily Al Eqtisadiah reported.

    About Musaned platform

    As part of its efforts to regulate the labour market, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources has created a Musaned platform to help clients learn about their rights and duties and related services including issuance of visas, employment applications and the contractual relationship between employers and workers.

    The ministry has made the contracting process mandatory through Musaned, being the official recruitment platform in the Kingdom.
