Delhi BJP alleges rigging in guest teachers recruitment, seeks action against Sisodia

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva has sought action against Manish Sisodia claiming that a “massive rigging took place in recruitment of guest teachers by the Delhi Education department”.

Sachdeva urged Lt. Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to seek a report from the Education Department on the “massive rigging” and to give orders for action against Sisodia, who was the Education Minister, and departmental officials.

“The Kejriwal government has misused the OBC quota in guest teacher recruitment to recruit AAP party workers, and educational qualifications were relaxed in hundreds of cases,” the BJP leader alleged.

Sachdeva also claimed that the Kejriwal government, by “putting pressure on the officials, appointed many teachers from the general category and other castes as a guest teacher under OBC quota”.

“Many guest teachers were given subject exemption, for example a teacher who had done post graduation in Environmental Science but was assigned to teach Biology. Similarly, a post graduate in Home Science was engaged in teaching English,” he claimed.

Sachdeva asserted that the Kejriwal government “talks about education revolution, but it does education scams”.

  • NCPCR seeks action against Atishi for posting ‘picture of minor’ on Twitter

NCPCR seeks action against Atishi for posting ‘picture of minor’ on Twitter

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has written to Delhi Chief Secretary and Delhi Police Commissioner to investigate and take necessary action against AAP leader Atishi for using children and for posting a ‘picture of minor’ on Twitter in furtherance of a political agenda.

“The Commission is in receipt of a complaint wherein it has been informed that Atishi Singh has uploaded images on her Twitter handle wherein minor children are seen holding posters of (former Deputy Chief Minister) Manish Sisodia in schools. It is alleged that the said images are uploaded by Atishi Singh in order to divert attention in the ongoing/pending investigation by the CBI against Manish Sisodia in Delhi Liquor Policy Case…,” NCPCR Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo has said in a letter to Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.

The Commission also observes that the posts uploaded by Atishi Singh showing images of children clearly indicates misuse of the students studying in Delhi schools for personal agenda which may adversely affect the psychosocial behaviour of young children for the glorification of the accused person in liquor scam, the letter reads.

The NCPCR has also underlined that the AAP party workers have installed stalls in and around the school campus and the children are being used for their political campaigning and personal agenda favouring Sisodia, and this seems to be in violation of Sections 75 and 83 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and other relevant provisions of the IPC.

Underlining the “sensitivity of the matter”, the Commission has urged the officials to investigate the matter urgently by lodging an FIR against Atishi for misusing her position and power for her personal agenda by involving children, and posting and using images of minors without their consent.

The NCPCR has asked the agencies to submit the action taken report within 3 days of receipt of its letter.

Strict action to be taken against double-meaning Bhojpuri songs: Bihar minister

    [ad_1]

Patna: Strict action will be taken against double-meaning Bhojpuri songs and obscene music videos, Bihar minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said on Wednesday.

Speaking in the assembly, Yadav, the minister of planning and development, said police have also been told to take action against Bhojpuri songs with provocative caste overtones that often lead to social unrest and violence.

“Police are bound to initiate action if a complaint is filed in this regard. The Special Branch of Bihar Police has already issued instructions to district police units over this,” said Yadav, in reply to a calling attention motion.

Strict action will be taken against those who indulge in making such songs and videos, he said.

Moving the motion, Congress MLA Pratima Kumari said vulgarity and provocative caste overtones in Bhojpuri songs are a matter of serious concern.

“We are not against the promotion of art and culture but these double-meaning songs often lead to social unrest. The government must take strict action against those who produce such songs,” she said.

It has also been noticed that local police don’t take action against people who indulge in producing such songs, she said.

CPI(M) MLA Ajay Kumar said that despite instructions from the headquarters, local police don’t take action against obscenity and double entendres in Bhojpuri songs.

“Punitive action should be taken against such singers and musicians,” he said.

Tejashwi assures action against Sudhakar Singh for repeated attacks on CM

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Monday said that his RJD will take action against MLA and former minister Sudhakar Singh for repeatedly targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“The party has already taken his clarification for attacking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Still, he is repeatedly attacking him. It indicates that he was guided by BJP and RSS and playing on their pitch. The matter is in the cognisance of party’s national President Lalu Prasad Yadav and he has asked national General Secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui to look after it,” he said.

“At present, the health of Abdul Bari Siddiqui is not right. Once he recovers from the illness, he will form a committee to probe this matter and submit the report before Lalu Prasad Yadav to take action against him,” Yadav added.

Sudhakar Singh on Monday said that the Nitish Kumar government has failed in every sector in the state.

Earlier JD-U MLC Sanjay Singh strongly objected to the repeated statement of Sudhakar Singh against Nitish Kumar after the meeting of Mahagathbandhan’s legislators in Bihar Vidhan Sabha.

“The water has gone above the head. When will the RJD take action against him?” he asked.

  • Urgent action needed to strengthen international financial architecture: IMF MD to G20

Urgent action needed to strengthen international financial architecture: IMF MD to G20

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Saturday said there is an urgent need to strengthen the international financial architecture, especially in the area of debt resolution and Global Financial Safety Net at a time when global growth is set to slow in 2023.

Terming India a relative bright spot, she said, it is an important engine of growth for the world economy, representing about 15 per cent of global growth in 2023.

India’s remarkable progress on Digital Public Infrastructure provides a strong basis to secure robust and inclusive growth over the medium term, she said at the first G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting under India Presidency here.

“With global growth set to slow in 2023 and remain below its historical average, too many people in too many countries are struggling to make ends meet a point that I highlighted in my recent blog on policy priorities for G20. The international community, therefore, has a responsibility to come together to find solutions for the most vulnerable members of our global family,” she said.

This calls for urgent action to strengthen the international financial architecture, especially in the area of debt resolution and strengthening Global Financial Safety Net, she added.

Global Financial Safety Net is a set of institutions and mechanisms that provide insurance against crises and financing to mitigate their impact.

In light of rising debt vulnerabilities in many countries, she said, there is a need to strengthen the debt architecture and improve the speed and effectiveness of debt resolution.

Sovereign debt vulnerabilities, already elevated before the pandemic, have been exacerbated by the shocks stemming from Covid-19 and Russia’s war against Ukraine, she said, adding, this is particularly the case for developing and low-income countries with very limited policy space and huge development needs.

It is therefore imperative for G20 to strengthen the debt architecture and G20 did so in 2020 with Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) and by establishing Common Framework (CF) for debt resolution, she said.

“Since then, the CF delivered a debt operation for Chad. It is now critical to complete Zambia’s debt restructuring, establish a Creditor Committee for Ghana, and advance work with Ethiopia. Nonetheless, more predictable, timely, and orderly processes are needed both for countries under the CF and for those not covered by it, including Sri Lanka and Suriname,” she said.

“This means that we must enhance dialogue and collaboration on debt issues. This is the goal of the new Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR): to bring together creditors official, old and new, and private and debtor countries to discuss key issues that can facilitate the debt resolution process.

“We launched the GSDR under the auspices of India’s G20 Presidency last week at the deputies’ level, followed by an engaged and constructive principals meeting earlier today. We will further build on this discussion during the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings in April,” she said.

Being the centre of Global Financial Safety Net, she said IMF has been scaling up lending as members confront the significant economic challenges that the past few years have brought.

In a world of great uncertainty and repeated turbulence, it is critical to further bolster IMF’s capacity to support its members, she said.

“This applies most urgently to our concessional financing for low-income countries through our Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGT). Demand for PRGT support has reached unprecedented levels and can only be met if matched by an increase in PRGT loan and subsidy resources,” she said.

In addition, she said, a successful quota review which IMF’s membership has committed to complete by December 2023 is critical for a strong Global Financial Safety Net.

“The latter has always been important for global stability and is even more important in today’s challenging global environment, especially for the most vulnerable countries and people. Our common interest is to secure a well-functioning and integrated global economy, for the sake of a more secure and prosperous world,” she said.

  • Haryana: Cops use water cannons on protesting employees; Hooda slams action

Haryana: Cops use water cannons on protesting employees; Hooda slams action

    [ad_1]

Chandigarh: The Haryana Police on Sunday used water cannons and teargas on thousands of protesting government employees demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Coming out in support of employees, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda condemned using force against the protesting employees in Panchkula. He said the employees were protesting for legitimate demands.

“Cane-charge and use of teargas on a peaceful protest is highly condemnable. In a democracy, the government runs through dialogue, but Haryana’s BJP-JJP alliance wants to run the government through sticks and bullets,” he said.

The Leader of Opposition said the Congress supports the demand of the employees and promised to strongly raise the issue in the forthcoming Budget session of the Vidhan Sabha.

“If the present government does not accept the demands of the employees, a decision will be taken to implement OPS in the very first cabinet meeting after the formation of the Congress government in the state. The old-pension scheme has already been implemented in Congress-ruled Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh. Employees in Haryana will also get benefits on the same lines.”

Talking to the media after the Congress Legislature Party meeting here, he said the MLAs discussed party strategy in the assembly in detail.

Congress MLAs have given more than two dozen calling attention and adjournment motions in the assembly session and dozens of other issues will also be raised during the Zero Hour.

He said the Congress would raise family identity card, cut in pension of senior citizens, cut in BPL card, illegal mining, NGT cases, unemployment, demand for OPS, privatization of education, etc.

When asked about the budget, Hooda said nothing can be expected from this government after seeing the record of the last eight years.

Ahead of the meeting, delegations of agitating employees for OPS, sportspersons, ration depot holders, private college employees, Sarva Karmachari Sangh and farmers met Hooda and handed over a memorandum regarding their demands.

Hooda asked the government to take cognizance of their demands.
