SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha handed over appointment orders to newly inducted recruits of J&K Administrative Service, J&K Police Service and J&K Accounts Service, at Convention Centre today.

The Lt Governor extended his best wishes to all the young recruits and appreciated the J&K Public Service Commission for the transparent & fast-track selection process.

“JKPSC is providing momentum to change with enviable benchmarks and had declared the result for 2021 JKPSC exam within three hours after conclusion of the interview of the last candidate,” said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor said the transparent selection procedure is enabling the government to recruit the best and transform the work culture. He said the State services are playing a vital role in inclusive growth and delivery of services to meet the aspirations of the people.

The Lt Governor highlighted the challenge of sustained & rapid economic growth and the efforts required to ensure that the growth is equitable.

“You don’t have to be a Yes Man but do what your conscience tells you and keep the interest of the public above everything. Remember, behind every file on your table, there are hopes & dreams of thousands of people. Think about the last person in queue while formulating policies,” the Lt Governor said.

Impartial, honest, efficient, transparent & fearless service is basic architecture of a good administration. I am confident that the young officers will discharge their responsibility towards public welfare with utmost sensitivity, commitment and dedication, he added.

“In the fast-changing world, Officers will also have to re-orient themselves like any other profession and learn new skills to adapt to change & progress in the society, protect democratic values and fulfill the commitment towards the public in a better way,” said the Lt Governor.

Today we are standing on the threshold of global leadership, so the expectations of the common man have also increased. In the next five years, the governance will be completely data driven. The administrative system will require effective institutional framework to address the demands of the future, he added.

Observing that no department or public servant can work in silos, the Lt Governor asked the public servants and government departments to work as an organic entity to promote participatory decision making, transparency, accountability, equity and inclusiveness in the governance system and to establish rule of law.

Better alignment of goals, resources and action, along with innovation capability & strategic skills, experience of seniors combined with new generation’s resolve will pave the way for the future of Jammu Kashmir, he added.

  • Twitter to prioritise ‘verified’ accounts

    Twitter to prioritise ‘verified’ accounts

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday said that verified accounts on the microblogging site will now be prioritised.

“Verified accounts are now prioritised,” he tweeted.

This development might give special attention to people who have had their accounts verified.

    MS Education Academy

For instance, if your account is verified, people looking at Twitter are more likely to see your posts.

Last week, Musk removed all legacy verified accounts with Blue check marks.

American actor Charlie Sheen publicly begged Musk to return his blue Twitter check mark.

Sheen, like thousands of others, lost his official verification badge after a site-wide purge of legacy verified accounts.

He was among the ones who refused to pony up for Twitter Blue – Musk’s $8-dolllar-a-month subscription service.

However, Sheen’s blue check was soon restored.

Amitabh Kant, the former chief executive officer of NITI Aayog, also lost the Blue Tick on Twitter.

Earlier, it was said that Twitter will not remove verified status from the government accounts and accounts being run by government officials.

Kant’s Blue Tick has not yet been restored.

Moreover, Twitter’s ongoing Blue Tick saga took yet another twist later, as many influential and famous users have had their blue checks restored by Musk, despite not subscribing to the service.

Numerous influential and well-known Twitter users globally have had their Blue verification badges reinstated next to their usernames.

  • Twitter’s blue tick back only for high-profile accounts

Twitter’s blue tick back only for high-profile accounts

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: In a surprising turn of events, Twitter has restored verification badges on several high-profile celebrity accounts with millions of followers, just days after the microblogging platform culled the legacy blue checkmarks for non-paying users.

The move assumes significance as Indian celebrities and top politicians from Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lost verified blue ticks on their Twitter accounts this week after Elon Musk-led microblogging site started removing checkmark icons from accounts that did not pay a subscription fee.

The coveted blue ticks have now made a surprising comeback on accounts of these celebrities. Top cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli who lost the blue tick mark on their Twitter handles, have also got them back.

    MS Education Academy

It was not immediately clear whether or not these accounts have paid for the verification.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah – who got the blue tick back on his Twitter handle – tweeted that he did not pay for it. “Apparently I’ve paid for Twitter Blue & given them a phone number to verify except that I haven’t. Mr Musk are you paying for mine as well?” Abdullah tweeted.

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai took to Twitter to express her surprise and delight at getting the blue tick reinstated. “I don’t know what happened but I’m happy to have my blue tick back so everyone knows I am still Malala,” she tweeted.

While there is no official word from Twitter on the reinstated blue ticks, the company is reportedly restoring the verified status for accounts with high follower count.

In fact, accounts of some global celebrities who are no more, like Chadwick Boseman, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jackson, too have got the blue tick back.

Earlier this week, Twitter began removing the check mark, which had for years meant that Twitter had verified the identity of the user behind an account, from the profiles of thousands of celebrities, politicians and journalists. This led some of the biggest and most popular names losing the blue tick mark on their Twitter handles.

However, a few high-profile personalities including American author Stephen King, US professional basketball player LeBron James and legendary actor William Shatner, ended up retaining their blue tick as Musk announced he will personally pay for these accounts.

  • Twitter plea against Centre’s order to block accounts: Karnataka HC reserves judgment

Twitter plea against Centre’s order to block accounts: Karnataka HC reserves judgment

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court on Friday reserved its verdict on social media platform Twitter’s plea challenging the central government’s directions to take down 39 URLs.

The matter pertains to the 10 blocking orders that the central government had issued to Twitter, between February 2021 and February 2022, directing the social media platform to block public access to certain information, and suspend several accounts as well.

The Centre had handed over the blocking orders in sealed covers to the High Court.

    MS Education Academy

Justice Krishna S Dixit reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments presented by Twitter and the central government.

Twitter challenged the government orders claiming that they are arbitrary, and procedurally and substantively not in consonance with Section 69A of the IT Act. Twitter also contended that account-level blocking is a violation of the constitutional rights of users.

Apart from arguing that the direction to block entire accounts falls afoul of Section 69A of the IT Act, Twitter claimed that the government orders do not comply with the procedures and safeguards prescribed by the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information by Public) Rules, 2009 (Blocking Rules).

In its reply, the Centre submitted that the directions were issued in national and public interest and to prevent lynching and mob violence incidents.

Stating that it only intervenes when there is a threat to the sovereignty of India or public order, the central government argued that being a foreign entity and the government’s 10 blocking orders not being arbitrary, Twitter could not take refuge under the fundamental rights under Articles 14 (right to equality) and 19 (right to freedom of speech and expression) of the Indian Constitution.

Contending that Twitter does not have the right to espouse the cause of users as statutory enable is required for such action, the Centre also argued that Twitter has no locus standi to file the plea as it cann’t speak on behalf of its account holders.

Apple unveils Apple Card’s savings accounts with 4.15% interest rate

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Apple has launched a new high-yield savings account for Apple Card users that will come with a 4.15 annual percentage yield (APY).

Apple Card users can now choose to grow their Daily Cash rewards by automatically depositing their Daily Cash into a high-yield Savings account from Goldman Sachs.

“Starting today, Apple Card users can choose to grow their Daily Cash rewards with a Savings account from Goldman Sachs, which offers a high-yield APY of 4.15 per cent — a rate that’s more than 10 times the national average,” said the company.

    MS Education Academy

With no fees, no minimum deposits, and no minimum balance requirements, users can easily set up and manage their Savings account directly from Apple Card in Wallet.

“Savings helps our users get even more value out of their favorite Apple Card benefit ‘Daily Cash’ while providing them with an easy way to save money every day,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet.

“Our goal is to build tools that help users lead healthier financial lives, and building Savings into Apple Card in Wallet enables them to spend, send, and save Daily Cash directly and seamlessly ‘all from one place’,” Bailey added.

Once a Savings account is set up, all future Daily Cash earned by the user will be automatically deposited into the account.

To build on their savings even further, users can deposit additional funds into their Savings account through a linked bank account, or from their Apple Cash balance.

“Users will also have access to an easy-to-use Savings dashboard in Wallet, where they can conveniently track their account balance and interest earned over time,” Apple said late on Monday.

Users can also withdraw funds at any time through the Savings dashboard by transferring them to a linked bank account or to their Apple Cash card, with no fees.
