    Four of family from Karnataka dead, one critical in Dubai road accident

    Raichur: The incident of four persons from the Raichur district of Karnataka who had gone for Umrah and got killed in a road accident in Dubai, came to light on Thursday.

    The deceased have been identified as Shafi Sulleda (53), a staffer at Raichur Agricultural University, his wife Shiraj Begam (47), daughter Shifa (20), and mother Bibi Jaan (64).

    Raichur SP B. Nikhil has stated that deceased Shafi Sulleda’s son Samir is severely injured and is being treated at a hospital in Dubai.

    The family had gone to Mecca from Raichur on February 14. The accident happened in Dubai when they were traveling in a bus on Tuesday evening (February 21). The bus collided with a container, according to authorities.

    “We are waiting for more details regarding the case and authorities are in touch with the family of the victims,” he stated.

    Telangana student killed in US as gun goes off accidentally

    Hyderabad: A 58-year-old man died after a motorcycle rider hit him at Ibrahimpatnam in the early hours of Wednesday.

    The man was crossing the road when a motorcyclist Nava Chandu, 25 who was proceeding towards Manchal village from Ibrahimpatnam on splendor hit him. He died on the spot.

    The dead body was shifted to the community health centre in Ibrahimpatnam and kept in the mortuary. The accused also sustained injuries and shifted to Bringi hospital for treatment, his condition is stable the Ibrahimpatnam police said.

    A case is registered.

    SRINAGAR: Two Pulwama residents were among three Kashmiris, who died in a road accident in Churu area of Rajasthan on Monday, officials said here.

    Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that a truck met with accident in Churu area of Rajasthan today.

    He said all three persons from Kashmir, who were onboard the truck, died on spot.

    He identified the trio as Jahangeer Ahmad Naikoo (driver) from Tiken Pulwama, his maternal uncle Mohammad Yousuf Bhat from Kareemabad Pulwama and another driver Showkat Ahmad Wani from Kupwara.

    The official said their families have been contacted and efforts are to bring their bodies back.

    SRINAGAR: A youth was killed after a vehicle he was travelling in met with an accident at Shamsipora railway crossing along Jammu-Srinagar national highway in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, an official said.

    Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that a person identified as Aqib Mehmood Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Bankoot Banihal who was traveling in his own vehicle (JK06-2337) from Srinagar towards Jammu met with an accident at Shamsipora railway crossing last evening.

    He was shifted to District hospital Anantnag for treatment in critical condition, however, he was declared brought dead by the doctors, he said.

    Meanwhile, Police have taken cognizance of the incident.

    Srinagar, Feb 18 (GNS): At least two devotees were killed and nineteen others injured after a bus carrying them met with an accident in Reasi district on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

    They told GNS that a Canter bus, on way from Bindi to Shiv Khodi, plunged into a deep gorge at Taryath.

    In the incident, they said, two persons, a 14-yr-old boy and a 19-year-old girl, were killed on the spot while nineteen others suffered injuries. “Among the injured, thirteen were referred to GMC Jammu after initial treatment at a local hospital”, they said.

    “The injured persons, as per hospital authorities, are said to be responding well to the treatment”, the official further said. (GNS)

    SRINAGAR: A youth from Udhampur, died in a tragic incident in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar area. He was caught in an elevator.

    Reports reaching here said that the young man was part of a group of workers, who were caught in the lift. Most of them survived with injuries but the Udhampur boy died.

    Reports from Udhampur said a group of youth were working with a factory as labourers. They were unloading the merchandise in a lift when the lift broke. At least five persons – all from Lati belt – were injured. One of them identified as Jagdev son of Hemraj received a serious head injury and was declared dead by the doctors. The injured were identified as Ashok Kumar, Mohan, Ankit, Deepak and Yashpal. They are currently being treated for serious injuries.

    “Unfortunate mishap involving Lift/Elevator in Bhavnagar, Gujarat in which a group of boys from Lati, district Udhampur, J-K, got trapped, sustaining injuries with the death of one of them,” Union Minister Jitendra Singh said in a tweet. “I am in touch with local authorities and hospital management there.”

    In another tweet, Singh added that he has spoken with Bhavnagar Bharatiben Shivalik to follow up on the matter.

    “I have also spoken to Lok Sabha MP from Bhavnagar, Bharatiben Shivalik and she is also following it up. Meanwhile, at Lati, our PRI representative Master Kasturi Lal is coordinating,” he added. Singh is representing the Udhampur constituency in the Lok Sabha. In Lati, Singh said PRI representative Master Kasturi Lal is coordinating.

    Hyderabad: Four women died after meeting with a road accident in Dandumalkapuram village of Choutuppal mandal from Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district while several others were severely injured.

    The tragic incident took place when a private bus collided with an auto rikshaw carrying the victims.

    The persons injured in the accident were rushed to a hospital in Hayathnagar. They have been identified as D. Nagalaxmi (28), Varakantham Anasuya (55), Chiluveru Dhana Laxmi (35), and Devarapally Sirisha (30).

    The police said that the victims were working in a company industrial park.

    The police said that the condition of another labourer was said to be critical. They also said that a total of 12 labourers were travelling in the auto rikshaw at the time of the accident.

    SRINAGAR: A 35-year old man died in an road accident in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday late evening.

    Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that the man identified as Nisar Ahmed Dar son of Gh Ahmed Dar (35) of Shahgund suffered critical injuries after a car he was traveling in met with an accident at Bonikhan area.

    He said soon after the accident, Dar was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

    “After conducting medico-legal formalities the body will be handed over to his family members,” he said.

    Clearing the looming confusion over the health of Mufti Muzaffar Hussain Qasmi, one of the known scholars’ of Kashmir who is currently in Mecca to perform Umrah, his close associates on Friday said the scholar is doing well and there was absolutely nothing to worry about his overall health condition.

    A photo of Mufti Muzaffar Hussain Qasmi was widely shared on social media platforms, showing blood stains on his clothes, while at a hospital somewhere at Mecca.

    The circulated photo plunged the people, especially back home, into deep anguish and despair about his health.

    To allay the apprehensions, people close to Mufti Muzaffar Qasmi said that the photo was taken instantly as the scholar had suffered minor injuries after getting hit by a car in Mecca on Friday.

    “Mufti Sahaab is currently at his allotted hotel and there is nothing to worry about his health condition,” news agency GNS quoted Mufti Ishaaq Nazki as having said.

    Meanwhile, the people close to Mufti Muzaffar Hussain Qasmi have urged the people to delete the photo and also restrain from sharing it to avoid the anguish among the people.
