    SRINAGAR: A minor boy died after being hit by a vehicle in Baghpati Surfraw area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.

    Quoting an official ,KNO reported the boy was hit by a speedy vehicle Baghpati area of Gund today, resulting in his on spot death.

    His body was taken to PHC Gund for medico-legal formalities.

    The boy has been identified as Naseer Ahmad Khatana (8) of Baghpati Surfraw.

    Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident.

    SRINAGAR: A man died while another sustained injuries after a carrier vehicle met with an accident in the Doda district of Jammu region on Tuesday, officials said.

    They said a carrier vehicle (JK06B-6047) on its way to Kishtwar from Doda met with an accident near Shibnote Premnagar area of Doda district.

    A man identified as Murtaza Ahmed of Gurmaul Guwari village died on the spot while another man whom police identified as Faizan Iqbal Naik of Doda has been shifted to hospital for treatment.

    Police took cognizance of the incident and registered a case in this regard. [KNT]

    Hyderabad: A fire accident that occurred near Kamineni hospital in the King Koti area that falls under Abids Police Station limits has claimed the life of a security guard, Santosh. He was burnt alive after the car in which he was sleeping was gutted in flames.

    According to reports, the fire has trapped seven cars, out of which three were completely gutted in flames. As the fire spread rapidly across the vehicles, the security guard was trapped inside his car and was charred to death.

    Alerted by the Kamineni Hospital staff, the police acted swiftly and fire fighters brought the fire under control. However, it was too late to save the life of the security guard who was sleeping in his car at the time of the accident.

    The police have launched an investigation into the incident and suspect that a mosquito coil or a cigarette may have caused the fire accident. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

    Ganderbal, Mar 24: A religious cleric died and three others were injured in a head-on collision between two cars in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday evening.

    The accident occurred in Bani Bagh Kangan area of Ganderbal district.

    Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that there was a collision between a Swift car (JK16-6685) and an Alto car (JK16-548) in which four persons sustained injuries.

    They said the injured were evacuated to Sub District Hospital Kangan. Among them, Molvi Qaiser Ahmed Wani son of Abdul Hamid, a resident of Fraw Gund Kangan was referred to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to his injuries.

    The injured who are undergoing treatment at SDH Kangan have been identified as Sirajuddin Mir son of Ghulam Hasan of Fraw Gund, Tariq Ah Rather son of Abdul Samad of Tulmula Ganderbal and Muhammad Shafi Sheikh son of Abdul Ahed, a resident of Saloora Ganderbal.

    Police said that a case in this regard have been registered under relevant sections of law. [KNT]

  • One Killed, Three Injured In JK Road Accident

    SRINAGAR: One person was killed while three others were injured in an accident at Banibagh area of Kangan, Ganderbal on Friday, officials said.

    A Swift car with the registration number JK16-6685 collided with an Alto car with the registration number JK16A-5488, causing harm to all four passengers in the vehicles, officials said.

    Molvi Qaiser Ah Wani and Siraj ud din Mir, both residents of Fraw Gund, along with Tariq Ahmad Rather from Tulmulla Ganderbal and Mohd Shafi Sheikh from Saloora Ganderbal were injured in the accident. They were immediately taken to SDH Kangan for medical attention.

    However, one of the injured identified as Molvi Qaiser Ah Wani was shifted to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to his injuries.

    Meanwhile, the official said that police have taken cognisance of this incident.(KNO)

  • Motorcyclist Injured In Road Accident

    SRINAGAR: A motorcyclist was injured in a road accident at Renji Palhalan area of north Kashmir Baramulla district on Thursday.

    A police official said that an accident took place at Renji Palhalan between Tata Nexon bearing Reg no JK-05G 2581 and motorcycle bearing reg no JK-01W 3792 resulting in injuries to motorcyclist namely Javaid Ahmad khan son of Mohd Ashraf khan resident of Chahal Boniyar.

    He said that the injured was shifted to the Trauma Hospital Pattan for treatment, where from he has been referred to JVC hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.

    He said that police have taken cognizance as a driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized. (KS)

  • Road Accident in JK Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

    SRINAGAR: On Wednesday, an unfortunate road accident occurred in the Thathri region of Doda, resulting in the loss of a woman’s life and injuries to seven others.

    According to a police official, the accident involved a Duster vehicle with registration number JKO6A-6939, which was traveling from Kishtwar to Doda and collided near the Thathri grid station.

    “Eight individuals were injured in the incident and were promptly transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Sushma Devi, wife of Bir Singh and resident of Bhaderwah, was among the injured and later passed away due to her injuries,” he said.

    He identified injured as Sorav (08), Gorav(07), Charan Dass (23), Rishi Kumar (52), Kewal Kumar (25), Ankush Kumar (28) and Raksha Devi (27) who all are residents of Bhagratha Bhalla in Bhaderwah area.

    Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance and started investigation in this regard.

    Quoting an official, KNO reported that Ali Hassan Ansari of Jharkhand succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital in Srinagar on Wednesday morning.

    Five persons had died and 28 were injured in a road accident in Awantipora area on March 18.

    The accident took place when a bus turned turtle on national highway in Awantipora.

    He identified the deceased as Karuna sardar wife of Dayal Sardar of Kolkata. The injured were identified as Rakesh son of Ratan Lal of Udhampur, Nandita Vedi and Bahnolal Chjerveti– all residents of Kolkata, while the identity of another is being ascertained.
