New Delhi: India is about to ring in its 74th Republic Day on Thursday and January 26 calls for a special celebration as this date marks when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. Many filmmakers have made films showcasing the beauty and bravery of our country, as well as the country’s struggle for freedom and patriotism.

‘Swades’

‘Rang De Basanti’
The film starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, and Siddharth which was released almost 17 years back, revolved around the journey of a group of close friends and highlighted the need to question those in authority.
The film, which featured tributes to freedom fighters like Chandra Shekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh, among others, emerged as a major hit at the box office.
‘Airlift’
Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur’s starrer movie showcased the story of a successful businessman stranded in the city of Kuwait set during the time when it got invaded by Iraq and resulted in thousands of Indians getting stuck in the warzone. The storyline of the movie was inspired by true events and depicted an actual picture of what the Indian citizens went through before being rescued and brought home with the help of the authorities.
‘Raazi’
Adapted from Harinder Singh Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’, this Meghna Gulzar directorial is an inspirational story of a young Kashmiri girl Sehmat Khan, who marries Iqbal Syed, a Pakistani army officer (Vicky Kaushal), and moves to Pakistan as an Indian spy.

Her grit and resilience to help her country by finding out important information from Pakistan makes this movie a brilliant watch.
‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’
Starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam, this movie is no doubt one of the best films one can watch on Republic Day.
It’s based on true events and revolves around the surgical strike conducted by India on terrorists after the Pulwama attack. The movie became immensely popular among the masses and was a blockbuster.
‘Shershaah’
Directed by Vishnuvaradhan, ‘Shershaah’ is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra, who laid down his life in the service of the nation while recapturing Indian territories from Pakistani intruders during the Kargil War in 1999. The film, which was released on Amazon Prime Video on 12 August 2021, was hailed by everyone. The film starred Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
The film industry has never been behind in giving due respect to the nation and bringing out the patriotic side in the audience.

Anantnag: 74th Republic Day was celebrated with traditional fervor and enthusiasm in Achabal.
BDC Chairperson Firdousa Akhter, as a chief guest unfurled the national flag and takes salute.
On the occasion, various contingents from civil and police administration, including, SPDO Achabal, Mohd Rakeeb,BDC Vice President Mohd Maqbool Ganaie,BDO Achabal Hakeem Sajad Ahmad,ZEO Ghulam Hassan,SHO Achabal Sarfaraz Ahmad,BMO Achabal Akhtar Hussain,NT Achabal Manzoor Ahmad, PRI’s, Sarpanchs, Ward members, and Media persons were also present at the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest BDC Firdousa in her address extended his Republic Day greetings to the people.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairperson said that the nation is paying rich tributes to the leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs who made countless sacrifices for the freedom of the country. Glorifying their contributions, he said that it is the result of their supreme efforts that we are living in a free country.
Chairperson also deliberated on the ongoing development scenario of the Achabal Area and said that the area is touching new heights with active participation of people in government initiatives.
On this Occasion BDC Vice President Mohammad Maqbol Ganie also Highlighted the efforts besides achievements made by the district under various priority areas including education, healthcare, languishing, back to village, district capex, agriculture and allied sectors, women and youth empowerment, MGNREGA, JJM, water and electricity supply to Anganwadi Centers and schools, rural development, macadamization and road connectivity, Social Welfare, Nasha Mukt Bharat, Industries, self employment and creation of durable and sustainable assets.

The ceremony concluded with prize distribution for Employees from various departments,Media Persons were also felicitated for exemplary public service.

Army Tightens Security At NH44 Ahead Of 74th Republic Day

Udhampur, January 22: As the country turns close to celebrating its 74th Republic Day, the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir has tightened its security to keep intense watch to prevent any untoward incident in the union territory.
The 137th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has increased its strength in Udhampur and has also set up nakas to keep a check on commuting vehicles.
“In view of Republic Day, we have increased the strength and nakas have been set up. Checking of vehicles is being done. We are conducting regular search operations and are alert,” said Second-in-Command of 137th BN CRPF, Kartar Singh.
The CRPF has been keeping a strict vigil on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH 44) for ensuring smooth and secure conduct of Republic Day.
Singh further said that the patrolling of CRPF Road Opening Party (ROP) and Quick Reaction Team (QRT) vehicles have also been increased on the highways in the area.
“Round-the-clock patrolling and checking has been intensified on the national highway. The patrols have been alerted to keep a strict vigil on NH-44. The CRPF personnel deployed in the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway are fully trained to provide quick service to the passengers and help avoid Traffic Jams during the Celebration,” Kartak Singh added.
The CRPF is taking inspecting various locations along the north end of NH 44 with the help of Special Trained Dog Squads to avoid any untoward incidents.
On Friday, a Jammu and Kashmir police official said that they have tightened security in the Poonch district as well.
The security officials have deployed forces in every corner of the area to maintain safety and security, a J-K police official said on Friday.

Talking to ANI, an official Ahjaz said: “Since January 26 is ahead, we have tightened the security in the area. We have deployed forces so that no corner is left untouched.”
Speaking about the recent alleged targeted killing in the Rajouri district, the official stated, “After what happened in Rajouri, the security and safety of the citizens have become important. Therefore, we are on our toes for the protection of our people and those coming here.”
Ahjaz further emphasised that they conduct a yearly drill in the area anyway to ensure the security of the citizens.
“We often undertake surprise visits to some areas we find suspicious, we check cars and other vehicles. On a personal level as well, we undertake checkings so that we are assured that there is nothing to be concerned about,” he added.
On January 17, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh chaired a meeting to review the crime and security scenario of the Valley.–(ANI)
