Hyderabad: CBI grills Kadapa MP’s father in Viveka murder case for 5th day

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued questioning Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy’s father Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and their follower Uday Kumar Reddy for a fifth day on Sunday in former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

The duo was brought from Chanchalguda Jail to the CBI office.

The CBI court had sent them to six-day custody of the central agency last week, which will expire on Monday.

    MS Education Academy

The probe agency officials were questioning the accused about the motive behind the murder.

Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by the CBI on April 16, just two days Uday Kumar Reddy was arrested on April 14 in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Both were brought to Hyderabad where a court sent them to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear on Monday the petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy challenging the Telangana High Court order granting protection to Avinash Reddy from arrest till April 25.

Observing that an “atrocious and unacceptable” order was passed by the high court, a bench comprising Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha on Friday stayed proceedings before the high court and issued notice on the plea challenging protection to Reddy

The Supreme Court, however, directed the CBI not to arrest the MP till April 24.

Avinash Reddy, cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Redddy, has been appearing before the CBI as per the interm order of the Telangana High Court on his anticipatory bail petition.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, weeks before the elections.

The 68-year-old former state minister and MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him.

The CBI took over the investigation into the case in 2020 on the direction of Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing a petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy, who raised suspicion about some relatives.

  • Global IT spending continues to decline for 5th consecutive month

Global IT spending continues to decline for 5th consecutive month

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The global IT spending will continue to slow down by 4.4 per cent to $3.25 trillion for the fifth consecutive month, as technology investments continue to show the impact of a weakening economy.

In its new monthly forecast for worldwide IT spending growth, IDC projected overall growth this year slightly down from 4.5 per cent in the earlier forecast and represents a swing from a 6 per cent growth forecast in October 2022.

“Since the fourth quarter of last year, we have seen clear and measurable signs of a moderate pullback in some areas of IT spending,” said Stephen Minton, vice president in IDC’s Data and Analytics research group.

    MS Education Academy

Tech spending remains resilient compared to historical economic downturns and other types of business spending, but rising interest rates are now impacting capital spending, he added.

After reductions to PC forecasts a month ago, IDC has now scaled back its expectations for some additional hardware categories including servers, wearable devices, and peripherals.

Forecasts have been reduced for on-premise infrastructure investments by enterprise buyers, while cloud and service provider deployments remain more resilient overall.

Service provider spending is still weakening from last year’s highs as the industry adjusts to slower post-Covid growth, but planned investments by cloud and hyperscale providers have broadly held up since last month.

Strong demand for cloud services continues to drive growth despite inflationary pressures but non-cloud spending is set to decline, the report mentioned.

“The most significant impact remains concentrated in consumer markets with consumer IT spending now forecast to decline by 2 per cent this year,” said Minton.

This will be a second consecutive year of declining consumer tech spending, a huge change in fortunes from consumer growth of 18 per cent in 2021.

“On the other hand, enterprise demand for cloud and digital transformation remains strong despite economic headwinds,” he added.

Cloud infrastructure, software, and services are growing more slowly than a year ago but continue to account for a larger share of total IT spending.

  • 5th Grader Muhammad Qais Wins J&K Sub-Junior Soft Tennis Championship

Diligent practice, coaching & skills led to his victory; I too play tennis but couldn’t match his technique and skills: Qais’ Father

    Rehan Qayoom Mir

Srinagar, Mar 15 (GNS): Muhammad Qais, a 5th-grade student enrolled at DPS Budgam, has won the sub-junior Jammu and Kashmir Soft Tennis Championship.

In the finals of the tournament organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Soft Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council from March 12 to 14, Qais defeated Sahil to become the champion.

Sharing his experience and joy, Muhammad Qais told GNS that he is a 5th-grade student and is very happy about his achievement. “My first coach was Dilbagh Sir, who helped me learn the basics of the game amid the chilling cold in the winter season,” he said.

“Mouzam Bhaiya has also taught me about the game besides that I also have learned from international coaches like Javed Sir and Eechi Sir. I am very happy about my achievement and would like to give a message to all the others who play that if you have the courage to play but may not have the platform, don’t lose hope just practice at home and improve your skills until any opportunity comes your way,” said Qais adding that playing sports keeps one fit besides giving many other benefits.

Talking about time management, he said that, “I manage my sports activities and my studies in an organized manner. First I study in the morning hours and make sure I understand things very clearly. Then after finishing my studies, I go to my practice sessions for about 2 to 3 hours.”

Father of Mohammad Qais talking to GNS said that he is very proud of his son’s achievement. “Qais is an excellent tennis player. He has been playing Soft Tennis for the last two months while he previously used to play lawn tennis. He has also played several district, national, and state championships. He has also won the district championship of Srinagar by defeating a 17-year-old boy from GD Goenka School who was in 12th class,” he said.

“Qais has received appreciation from everyone wherever he goes to play. He has even played at the national level championship in Gujarat, where his technique and skills were highly appreciated despite his young age,” a buoyed father said, adding that although I also play tennis I can’t match him as his technique is unique and top-notch.” (GNS)

Karnataka High Court cancels board exams for 5th, 8th standards

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday cancelled the board examinations for the fifth and eighth standards from this academic year. The ministry of education was all set to hold the board exams from this academic year.

The bench headed by Justice Pradeep Singh Yerur opined that as per rules, the board exams for fifth and eighth classes could be held from the next year.

RUPSA president Lokesh Talikatte had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the public exams for fifth and eighth standard students. He had challenged the new evaluation process from the academic year 2022-23 in an order dated December 12, 2022.

The petition was submitted before a single bench seeking a stay on the order. The appeal was filed before the division bench later.

The division bench headed by Chief Justice P.B. Varale and Justice Ashok S. Kinagi has also opined against conducting public exams. The single bench order has been given following the direction of the division bench.

The board exams for the fifth and eighth standards had faced stiff resistance. Parents had questioned the necessity of board exams for these classes, when the CBSE does not hold exams for them. It was alleged that the education department is encouraging the tuition mafia.

The proposal to hold board exams for lower classes was dropped earlier also when S. Suresh Kumar was the Minister for Education due to stiff opposition by the parents.
